It was easy to swap over to RAC policy from my previous provider, and hopefully it will be comparable when it comes to renewing for the next year.

Poor. Been charged extra £95 when I made a claim for a stolen bike which has been rejected as the bike wasn't in my garage. The issue is, I was using the bike at the time. Having made the claim, RAC then decided to charge me more money for a clerical error that THEY had made on my policy. They've not been interested in listening to anything I've said and rejected every issue I've had. Customer first - NOT with the RAC. After eight weeks of waiting (and paying for a bike policy on a bike I no longer have) I'm now involving the ombudsman. Thanks for absolutely nothing RAC. Wouldn't recommend you to a soul if you were the last insurance company on earth. Top tip to customers...read and check your policy then read and check it again cos they ain't going to rectify any mistakes they make if you don't tell them to - in their eyes, the fault is ALL yours!

Easiest insurance cover I've arranged in fifty years. Would recommend to friends and family, it's that good.

WHEN I WENT THROUGH ON TELEPHONE TO CLARIFY POINTS AND GET DIFFERENT QUOTES THEY COULD NOT PULL UP MY REFERENCE NUMBER AND TOOK OVER 20MINS BEFORE FINDING MY QUOTE. THEN THEY TOOK ME ALL THROUGH THE DETAILS I HAD PROVIDED AGAIN, THE FASTEST DEALING WAS THE ENQUIRY FOR DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS OF QUOTES, AND AS IT WAS A PREMIUM NUMBER I GOT THE DISTINCT FEELING THE IDEA WAS TO KEEP ME ON THE PHONE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE AND IN THE END THE CALL COST ME £3+ PLUS A SURCHARGE FOR CREDIT CARD PAYMENT SO IN THE END I QUERY WHETHER I GOT THE GOOD DEAL QUOTED ON "GO COMPARE". THE REASON FOR AMENDED QUOTES IS RAC HAVE FINISHED DISABLED MEMBERSHIP AND THERE "BETTER" MEMBERSHIP IN MY CASE ISN'T.

I had to call my provider in order to change my reg plate - I was unable to make this change online. It took over ten minutes to change and cost me £30 to do so which I thought was ridiculous! I recently moved house so then needed to change address on policy. My partner was able to change his online for free with his provider. Not the case with RAC - it would have cost another £30 to change this. I called them and they 'waived' the fee when I threatened to cancel the policy. Small things like a change of address should be free to change!!!

Saved money as RAC were cheaper than my last insurer for the same policy

I was new to the online system. One of the main problems I did not understand the rules of no claims transfer. My new car still was insured when I tried to use it for my new policy. I sent details to RAC several times via email. The response came back phone RAC. It was at this time I found out about unable to use the same no claims on two different cars. I had to pay in full + £25 because I was changing my policy. I had sent my no claims to the RAC several times since and the email response I got back was phone the RAC. They explained the 16 years I had built up could not be accepted but they will give me 10 years. It would mean a fee of £25 to change my policy again. I had no paper work thorough the post. I phoned them up and my details are all on line. I was upset at the time. I am not a spontaneous person. I am also 67 and not as quick and into technology as some youngsters. I did not change my policy and I will not be renewing it. I will be going back to my other insurer who will send me the paperwork and my 16 year entitlement.

Good at the beginning but poor follow-up. I discussed the possibility of making a claim when a large tree branch fell on the car. The discussion was not with the RAC, I was passed on to someone else, presumably the representative of the underwriter. When I was told that I would have to accept the blame for the accident, because there was no-one else to claim from, I decided not to pursue the claim. I subsequently found that an at-fault claim had been recorded on my insurance record, despite the fact that I was not in the car at the time and that no claim was actually made. I discussed this with an RAC representative who promised to get the record corrected and let me know when this had been done. When nothing had happened after several weeks, I wrote to the RAC asking for this to be corrected but I have still received neither acknowledgement nor reply after more than 3 weeks.
