“Charged a £50 cancellation fee when we sold our car, the online portal inst great and the advisor was pretty blunt and rude to be honest.”

“Absolutely thugs, they make me £55 for cancellation and £61 extra for nothing. I will never use this company again. They have a ridiculous customer service a bunch of unprofessional team.”

“Absolutely pathetic service, had an accident which was not my fault three days later and still no courtesy car, been on the phone in total 2 hours 45 minutes and still getting nowhere. Would definitely not recommend RAC insurance, would rather pay a little more for someone like Direct Line whose business is solely insurance, my husband had a claim a few years ago and it was dealt with promptly and efficiently.”

“Disgusting customer service, I have been robbed I have paid 155 for 15 days of insurance paid a 75 deposit on may 31st and on 14 June they wanted 60 for my direct debit wich was missed and they added on 20 charge and I was told if I cancel I get nothing back o 160 for 2 weeks a can go AA insurance get insured for a year for 350 and the people skill is appalling disgusting rude people who have no customer service skillls I have a recording off the conversation wich is disgusting and all be posting on all my social media account and not to get insurance from rac rip offs”

“I had a policy with RAC changed my adddress and the underwriters didn’t like my new address and I made a claim and it all had an impact and they cancelled my policy and charged me for the rest of the yearly payment. Didn’t explain things very well.”

“Insurance premium is rather low, although far from the lowest. Changes of address and cancelling come with ridiculously high fees. Can't make them online, need to call. I will not be using RAC INSURANCE ever again.”

“Automatic renewal at uncompetitive rate, way higher than last year despite no claims; you have to jump through hoops and have to hang on the phone to cancel - clearly hoping to make money by making it difficult to cancel - I won't use them for anything in future.”

“Read the reviews before taking out insurance with this company. They are very low for a reason. I recently sold my car as I have not been using it. I informed RAC and they want to charge £55 cancellation fee! I know there will be a small admin charge but £55 is ridiculous. Others like AA car insurance charge a more reasonable £30. I made no claims during my period with them and the £55 was about a quarter of my yearly full comp insurance price! Rip off company. I urge you to go elsewhere. I for one am telling as many people as possible to avoid this company.”

“Lost £26+ of policy cost by selling car and cancelling with 3 months left on the Policy. Greedy as no refund given when car was hardly used during lockdowns. I will never use RAC again.”

“Tried to change my car on my Insuramce. They wanted an increase of £300 (smaller engine) and a new policy. My no claims of 16, they told me their max was 9, amd could only guarantee another bonus of 3 if I went elsewhere. Really unhelpful. No negotiations. Go elsewhere.”

“I recently got insurance from RAC and on the comparison site it said 197 pounds and when I got to the nitty gritty of paying it was 246.70 pence.....quite a jump but I spent that long at I just made my complaint verbally and paid. Today my wife bought a new car and I took her old car and went to the RAC to make changes they where looking 25 quid fee and another 225 more for the new car, so all and all the insurance was going to be shy off 500 quid.......well I threw the head up and cancelled which cost me 50 odd quid to do so.........my advice to you is STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY!! I’ve since reinsured with Direct line for 303 inc .............I will never use this company again and I’d advise anyone else not too.”

“Disgusting company. RAC black box, the biggest set of liars and scam artists going, has cost me about 1.5k this week because yet again they can’t deliver on promises made. Agents who say they do things who don’t. Disgusting customer service. Refunded a mere £50 out of the 1.5 I have lost. Will never be back”

“I informed RAC van insurance that I wanted to cancel my policy with them as I have taken a new policy out with a different company, ( it had 1 month to run until renewal and I have made no claims). I was told that there is a cancellation fee of £75 from them (RAC) plus a cancellation fee of £25 from Aviva as well £100 total fee to have a moth less insurance cover???. When I told them to just leave it to run out was then told that I was Illegal to have it insured with two companies. This is totally untrue!!! I pointed out that it is illegal to double claim for the same thing, yes, but it is not true that it is illegal to hold insurance with two companies. I was informed that they would cancel the insurance from now and make the bill up and send it to me. This is totally outrageous and I consider their actions as illegal!!! I will never have anything to do with the RAC again and urge caution with any dealings with RAC van insurance they are not to be trusted.”
