Firstly before you read below the most worrying and disgraceful behaviour is that the co op home insurance company aren’t responding to my wish to make a complaint.Which legally they have to which is why I having to go to the ombudsman. Background I rang co op home insurance a few weeks ago about an automatic home insurance renewal I was unaware about. We have been covered by another company for the previous year and have renewed again with them in September 24. The co op call handler cancelled the automatic renewal and advised me to email proof of the cover I had taken out with the other insurance companies for consideration of repayment. I sent clear proof of the cover I had with them.Note they asked me to do this. I told them I couldn’t access the coop on line portal to see what had happened and what we had ‘agreed too?’ Coop Call handler said there were known problems with customers getting/keeping access to the portal! Any new customers should be wise to this as well as all the other problems and hoops I have been asked to jump through and that’s been growing. Since providing the proof I have had a string of extra request for evidence. Starting with they wanted PDF documents and requesting ‘schedules’ of the insurance. In effect they want everything provided that they would send out of it was their own insurance. But I probably haven’t got everything laid out with my current insurance company exactly the same way as the CoOp. I asked them to send me proof of what insurance schedules documents I had apparently taken with them as much to help me understand what I need to get from my current insurance company, but they aren’t responding now. Nor will they respond to my request I have made twice now to make a complaint over the last fortnight. Really bad customer service and is a massive red flag along with the other problems I am encountering. Just look at the other negative comments about their current claim handlers. This is my experience.

Had storm damage to the roof of my house, slates missing leaving the roof open to the rain. No help at all refused due to age of tiles. Useless don’t bother. They are quick enough to to take your money the thieving gits.

As a member I phoned for an insurance quote, it was more than my own insurance with far less protection. You’re a joke, and I won’t be shopping at the co-op or Asda ever again

An appalling experience from the start. Spent close on an hour on the phone only to be charged virtually double the price of our last premium despite being with them for many years. We now have better cover with an alternative company, with whom we spent a fraction of the time on the phone, for virtually half price. What a disappointment.

My experience with co op Insurance has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the onset of my insurance contract, the black box provided malfunctioned, and despite months of complaints and battles, I was left without a working replacement for six months. The level of customer service I received was utterly disgusting, and it was clear that competency was non-existent within the company. Throughout my ordeal, none of my complaints were adequately addressed. Instead, I was met with dismissive responses such as being told to simply place the malfunctioning black box on my passenger seat or to consider switching to another insurance company altogether. Even when contacted by customer relations, I was rushed off the phone without any resolution to my concerns. To add insult to injury, I was lied to multiple times, including receiving incorrect information in my customer complaint letter. Promises were made regarding the functionality of the black box, only to find out the next day that it was indeed broken and required reinstalling. Despite paying a hefty £4000 for my insurance, I was told my complaint was being closed as they fronted the cost for multiple replacement cradles and black boxes due to continuous malfunctions, even though NONE of these were my fault. By not providing me a working black box they were violating the terms and conditions of their own contract and policy and therefore making me do so. This level of negligence is unacceptable, especially considering that the faults were not of my own making. In conclusion, my entire experience with co op young drivers Insurance has been nothing short of a scam. Young drivers, in particular, should steer clear of this company to avoid being taken advantage of. Gillian Fullalove, the employee handling my complaints, has demonstrated gross incompetence throughout, leaving me utterly disgusted with the company's practices.

Be careful dealing with this company! Was a customer with Co-operators for over 30 years, never had a problem until last week when I purchased a used car and called to switch my insurance. I was quoted a price DOUBLE what I was paying previously, no way I could afford this. I tried to get price down and no way they would budge. They didn't want to help and didn't care. I also had tenant insurance with them. I called around and got a much cheaper price. When I initially called Co-op to transfer insurance, my call was transferred to their call center (I thought I was speaking with local office). I called local office after I cancelled to express my disappointment and it was explained my local office could have given me a better deal. They tried to get me back. No way! Very disappointed how this was handled. Will never deal with them again!

I do not usually leave reviews I do not usually leave reviews, but I had to with this one. Yesterday we were informed that our claim was declined, and Co-op Insurance rendered our policy as VOID. This is a relatively new policy and they claimed that we failed to disclose two previous claims. We were with our previous company for a while and had two incidents where we discussed claims but did not proceed with them. On one occasion it was a telephone conversation that lasted for less than 5 minutes. We called in about a leak that caused cosmetic damage to our property. Once we were informed about the access amount, we decided to cover the cost ourselves and ended the issue. We did not think or know that it was considered a claim. As far as CO-OP is concerned this was a claim and by not disclosing this our policy is rendered invalid. This looks to me like bad customer service because our policy was good enough to collect money for but not good enough to claim from. We could have been paying funds into an invalid policy for years and not even know it!! If you do health checks for CLIAMS then consider doing the same for new policies. You were able to pull out his information quickly from what I can see. We are now faced with having no funds to replace our damaged items. We were not covered when we thought that we were. NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL with CO-OP INSURANCE. STAY AWAY!

Price hike for retired households with building and contents insurance. Is this age discrimination? There web page shows an older couple in the building and contents picture, is this something that the advertising authority needs checking?

"Not having had to actually use the insurance with regards to any claim etc., it's difficult to gib=ve a review. All I can say is that their admin and customer service setting up the policy was fine. What happens at a claim time remains to be seen!"

Thanks for leaving a review and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. As a comparison service we have no bearing on the price of your policy. This is determined by the insurer based on the risk presented to them such as your driving experience, vehicle details, age etc. However, prices are based on real time pricing and subject to change, which means if you return at a later time to purchase the policy, the previous price is not held for you and an updated quotation will be provided. If you would like to discuss this further with a member of our team, please feel free to email us on customerservices@gocompare.com or give us a call on 01633 654 019, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5.30pm.
