“This company is the biggest con ever, I'm paying £145 a month and then having to pay an extra £130 to drive 1000 miles as gone over the yearly mileage allowance! They rip you off big time, as I can't afford to keep on paying a high price to drive some miles, my car will now have to sit on the drive until my policy runs out in January! DO NOT GO WITH THIS INSUARNCE!!!”
“Insured my car paying a down payment of £240.00
Received documents which I signed with a copy of my Driving Licence and return within 21 days as required.
Received an email on the 09/11/2016 at 12.15 with the wording
‘Failure to complete any necessary actions could result in cancellation of your insurance policy’
Attached to the email was a document ‘Cancelling my policy!’
I Called THE POLICY SHOP - I stated that surely they can't send me a email stating that if i do not action it could 'result in' cancellation attaching a Cancellation letter (dated the same day) to be advised that they sent me a letter by Recorded Delivery and that was my 7 day warning/notice of cancellation.
I have NOT received any letter from them and on them checking their systems they confirmed that the Post Office attempted to delivery but the letter is still held at the Post Office.
The Lady and i use this term loosely stated 'its not our fault that you weren't in' I reminder that I work full time as per the details on the Policy.
The lady responded with Posting of the letter deemed that i had received it. I reminded the Lady that that is not how deemed receipt works and The Tribunal held (in regards to the Cancellation of policies) that the Onus is on the Company to confirm receipt prior to any cancellation and that they had evidence on their systems that I have absolutely NOT received it.
My argument – surely that’s evidence that I have not had 7 days’ notice of cancellation therefore void as not met T&C’s
The keep £89.00 for the period I was insured (3 weeks on the 09/11/2016) the keep £75.00 for the cancellation and they keep the remainder of the £240.00 that being £76.00 for lost Commission!
Complaint submitted and will now take 4 weeks (up to 8 weeks if complicated) to resolve. These people find tying their shoe laces complicated so I not holding my breath!”
“It's just impossible to get through to them on the phone and they provide no other means of contact (email etc). I am currently waiting on hold for the 6th time in a row ( I hang up after 30 minutes). I have no idea how much the calls are costing me.
I recommend you avoid this shoddy outfit like the plague.”
“DO NOT INSURE WITH THIS COMPANY!! Rip of merchants.. constantly raising the price of the cost of miliage. Terrible customer service. Non helpful towards youngsters! Shame that I can't afford to cancel with these muppets!!!!!”
“Dont every go with this company, they said when i took out my policy that my no claims bonus was valid i then got an email saying my insurance was about to be cancelled no warning! so i rang them and got the worst customer service i have ever received saying that i was connected and i new this would happen? (no one called me) they said i could remain with them if i paid the small price of £250.00 WTF! i said i would look around at other insurances and got new insurance with another company who have been helpful and cheaper. DO NOT GO WITH THE POLICY SHOP THEY ARE RUDE OVER CHARGE THEY ARE THE WORST COMPANY EVER!”
“Been on hold for 45 mins. Its cost over £10 just to be on hold (don't forget they make money from your calls to them) and I still haven't managed to get any cover.”
“Several things went wrong here! After sending in the required documents TWICE for car insurance, they emailed me out of the blue saying if I didn't send them the documents by close of play my insurance would be cancelled at midnight. I had to pull off the road and struggled for an hour trying to upload all the info again from my mobile. I then called them and they confirmed all the documentation had been received and all was in order.
A week later, I received an email stating my policy had been cancelled the week before and there were cancellation fees now due. What?? I had been driving around for a week with no insurance, non the wiser, and now it was late afternoon and I was in a car park a couple of hours from home. They said I could have a new policy, I had to go through all the questions again, but now they wanted a deposit of the cancellation fee AND a deposit, about £350.00, due immediately. I didn't have that kind of money just sitting in my bank account, so I was stranded in the car park. Their complaints department said they would investigate and would get back to me within 48 hours. Hello?? I'm still sitting in a car park, because of your screw up, and no insurance so I cant drive!!
I called another insurance company which made me legal again, at a great rate. They have asked for my no claims proof and my previous insurers wouldn't release it till I paid the outstanding fee. Ransom springs to mind.
Imagine if I had had an accident in that week, believing I was insured??? Could have lost my home if damages were high.
Oh and the average wait time for your call to be answered is 7 minutes. Yep, I timed them each time. The phone number you call to take out a new policy gets answered very quickly for some reason.
Oh and another”
“I am a youngn driver and i had a massive crash through no fault of my own and i feel like the one in the wrong. I have had to ring them every single time to find out new information every time, they have NEVER contacted me directly to tell me about my car i had to ask them if my car was repairable (2 and a half weeks later) and they tell me no its a total loss and they thought someone had already rang me to inform me. I had to give my courtesy car back with 3 hours notice or i would be charged and they have just completely done as they please and not followed regulations because they think im too young to even know if im being ripped off. DO NOT GET CAR INSURANCE WITH THESE IDIOTS.”
“I am a young driver and this company came up with the cheapest as they offer good deal for young drivers. However they don't tell you they rob you for every penny during your time with them it's disgusting! I have rang up the company several times to speak to peoplr with terrible attitudes and very unhelpful. I will be leaving this company in November and making sure no one ever goes with them and I will be namr and shaming them on social media so the word gets around how bad this company is.”
“I wouldn't even give them 1 star. The staff are obnoxious, it can often take hours for you to get through to anyone, and they will take your money absolutely any way they can! My policy may come up the cheapest company at the time but tif you go over your miles they will charge you what ever they like to add more. I have 2 years no claims now and I would class my self as a good driver, however to buy more miles they are charging me £175. As soon as my policy runs out i will will be getting rid! DONT go with this company!”
“The worst insurance company I have ever experience, after waiting for a phone call for over 4 hours to complete my home insurance which I had competed online they took me through every question which was fair enough to then tell me they couldn't complete it but had another company who would do it for 60 pound more so I went ahead and then when I came to cancelling the charged 35 pound! A disgrace of a company, had nothing but bother and hasell”
“This is the worst company for insurance! after 4 months of having my policy they told me that my black box isn't working and had to come and fit a new one. Then they charged me more at renewal than what my documents stated. When i changed jobs i had to pay a £60 admin fee and it didn't change my premium and then they wanted to charge me to send out new up to date documents. I have also had to top up my miles 3 times this year that's an extra £150. What an appalling company WOULDN'T recommend to anyone just out there to rip off young drivers. Pay a little bit extra on your insurance and don't have the hassle!!!!!!!”
“I can't even begin to explain how useless and unprofessional this company is. All they do is rip you off and take your money. They never gave me any warning that I'd exceeded my miles on my black box and cancelled my insurance, which then meant that I had to pay a fee off £400 for leaving the company and didn't get my years no claims. When I confronted them there was no appology given but the money was back in my account. The worst part of it is I've got to stay with them for one more month to get my years no claims and I've had to pay £100 for 1000 more miles which I won't use. Absolutely appalled at the fact that the company think this is acceptable.”
“almost every week they asking for outstanding documents (that i have already send)and threating me that they will cancel my insurance..
Have called to ask if everything now is ok and they told me that they will contact me on monday as now is friday after 5..that hapened 3 weeks ago..still waiting.”
“I had a quote to buy on line but it said "call us" so I thought i would. After a 10 minute call confirming all details they say "Oh, you've previously had subsidence, our underwriters will need to be contacted and they're closed now" (my previous subsidence, which was 20 years ago, was fully mentioned on the quote search) so I agreed to be called back between 9 and 11 the following day.
It is now the following day and they simply couldn't be bothered to call me. If this is how they treat potential customers, who knows how badly they treat ones that have already paid. I'll go elsewhere.”
“Time to renew my policy. I have had no contact with them at all since taking it out last year as there are no claims. The renewal price is over £250 for a standard buildings and contents policy, whereas I have purchased an all-singing, all-dancing, everything covered, legal/emergency cover, lower excesses and higher allowances, more specified items of higher value for 20% less than the renewal price quoted. Go elsewhere - they are NOT the cheapest, just the crap'est. They call several times a day and do not speak when you answer, they email and send letters requesting you contact them, but I don't want to be hanging on for half an hour, so I am letting the policy lapse, far more convenient and quicker to input all the details on a new quote!”
“Don't go near The Policy Shop. They're a bunch of sharks! Have had an horrendous experience with them!
I gave them 1 star because I had to otherwise they would have received nothing. Very unimpressed!”
