Shocking service from start to finish ! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY level of service is the worst i have ever dealt with in years of hiring cars all over the world. They are sharks with upsell and scare you into taking all the covers... Quality and cleanliness of the vehicles was appalling, I am still waiting for a response after one and half months so will now be taking this the the Spanish authorities that regulate car hire in ESP

I have rented from Goldcar numerous times over many years at Nice airport but have just cancelled my next rental with them on the basis of the last two rentals, up until which my experiences had been between moderate and good. On the last but one rental there was a virtually invisible small scuff on a wing mirror which was almost certainly there when i collected the car and i hadn't seen it until dropping the car off. The checker pointed it out and said words to the effect 'its unimportant', in other words it doesn't meet the criterion for a charge, but then i find a payment being taken from my credit card. My last rental involved a warning message appearing on the dashboard that I should stop driving due to an engine problem. This was late on a Sunday afternoon soon after collecting the car. Neither 'phone number provided was answered, it turned out one is only Monday - Friday and I was later informed the other for the breakdown service was having problems at that time. I had no option but to keep going to my destination with the intermittent warning display and reminder bleeps. Following numerous tel. calls and emails the following morning I was informed by the breakdown service they would send someone out and about two hours later a recovery vehicle arrived and took the vehicle away leaving me stranded 50km from Nice airport, which is where the car had been collected. I was then informed I could go to the nearest Goldcar office (in Nice) and collect a replacement and that Goldcar may reimburse my transport costs for getting there. I was able to get there on the Tuesday afternoon and collect a second vehicle without a problem. Having lost two days of rental and been put to considerable trouble I then requested reimbursement of two days hire but not transport costs as i was able to get a lift to Nice. Goldcar at first rejected my claim saying they needed to check if the problem was my fault, and then that I was 50% at fault but they had decided not to charge me for the recovery vehicle, even though i had not taken out the additional damage insurance offered by them. I informed them this was not a damage or insurable matter for which in any case i have annual cover taken out in England. I could go on but they ended up paying me back for one day loss of hire and then made a refuelling charge of plus €50 on my credit card. I had used fuel for the 50 km drive from Nice airport but having reached my destination dare not take the car any further, even to buy approx. €10 worth of used fuel, not knowing the car was going to be removed. Goldcar dealt very badly with me on all fronts. It took a considerable amount of time and determination to get to where i did with them and it would have been easier to just give in. Up to five rentals a year from Nice airport for the past 20 years and ongoing, not all with Goldcar but a majority have been. Customer service and the outcome has been diabolical.

Gold car stitched us up ! We ordered and paid for an automatic and got a manual . We asked for a refund as an automatic is much more expensive but they refused and said no we had a automatic when clearly we didn’t and we gave then the reg which they can see is not an automatic but they still refused to refund us the difference! Very bad customer service! Watch out that you don’t get stitched up like we did !!!

I made a booking at Clickrent (part of Goldcar)redirected through Ryanair website. My pickup time was noted at 19:30. The rental agreement states the shuttle service runs every 15minutes. I waited for 15 minutes and no shuttle, so I rang their number at 19:45. Main number, redirected to airport office, no answer. Website says office closes at 20:00. Rang again at 19:59, no answer. Took a taxi at a cost of 21€ to their offices and arrived at 20:10. Unhelpful receptionist at BCN airport office said the office is now out of hours and I need to pay an extra 22€ for arriving late. I said I required compensation for the taxi, she said it was not her fault. I said you did not answer the phone, she replies she was very busy despite me being the only customer. Never got compensated. Never using this company again.

It’s worthwhile reading small( or non existent) print. Just taken car of from Madrid airport. I usually use my Amex for car rental insurance extras. no, not allowed. You either have to pay the additional insurance to them - an Extra €200 or, a deposit of €3000 and use that to cover any damage. The next time you look for good deals; better go to trusted companies Hertz : Avis etc. It would have been cheaper and no nonsense

When we got a flat tyre, what could have been an easy fix, became a very stressful and time consuming ordeal! A flat tyre can be replaced, but instead, by instruction from GoldCar's recovery phone number, we had no choice but to have the car towed away by a third party leaving us stranded with no vehicle. The only way for us to get a replacement car, we were told repeatedly, was to return to our nearest GoldCar branch (Pisa Airport), which was 100km away from where we were staying in Tuscany!! Other companies will replace a tyre a or supply a new vehicle on the spot. It took over 90mins to drive there and over 90mins back, and a further 90mins wait in the pickup station at Pisa Airport. That's a near 5hr round trip, in addition to the recovery time and time on the phone, all to replace a flat tyre! Totally unacceptable. I will not use GoldCar again and will warn others against it in future.

Worst company ever. Car was over 100k miles on the clock. Had a mechanical problem and couldn’t get a different car nor a cancellation of contract. Refund of deposit still not received. Was overcharged on my deposit.

I collected the hire car with a full tank of fuel and returned it with a full tank but I was still charged a €23 refuelling fee. I complained to Goldcar and informed them that I was not informed of this charge at the time of making the booking. Goldcar informed me that customers are only informed of this charge when they are standing in the office, signing the contract! This is a very underhand way to conduct business.

Lhighly disappointing experience I encountered with a car rental reservation I made through your platform. I booked a 7-day car rental at Nice Airport with Goldcar, and I submitted my airline ticket in advance to inform you of my scheduled arrival time—7:00 PM. The confirmed price for the rental was €136, and the reservation was made in good faith, based on the arrival time specified. Upon arriving at the Goldcar counter at Nice Airport, the agent was initially unable to find my reservation. After approximately 15 minutes, I was informed that the reservation had been cancelled due to a “no-show.” This was both confusing and unacceptable, as I arrived at the correct time I had specified—7:00 PM—and at no point did I select or agree to a pickup time of 12:00 noon. The Goldcar agent then offered me a similar economy car for €625, which is more than four times the price of my original booking. When I expressed my concerns about the integrity of the business process, the agent advised me to contact Enjoy Travel directly, as they claimed only Enjoy Travel could reactivate the cancelled reservation. Following this, I attempted to resolve the issue through the Enjoy Travel website. I spent over 90 minutes chatting with an AI assistant, which repeatedly promised to connect me with a live agent—but that never happened. I also submitted a complaint form via the website, but I have not received any response. This experience has caused significant inconvenience and unnecessary stress. Sincerely, Ruslana

The car was really old , over 71,000 in kilometers, the car was full of Dennis and scratches all around the outside and underneath, inside the car was absolutely filthy dirty, I had a quote from the insurance from the head office before I picked the car up, when I went to the office the credits was completely different a lot more expensive a complete rip off, they just made figures up at the desk, a very unhappy customer

Do not use - Do not trust - We returned car full of fuel but on return to UK were charged £11 to top up and a £60 penalty charge. Fuel gauge full on return as topped up less than 10 minutes from airport return (& checked when exiting car). Customer Service basically ignored issues raised didn`t ask for further details just returned a stock reply

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONSIDERING A RENTAL WITH GOLDCAR. Booked a car through Goldcar in Alicante airport. I previously worked in car rental for many years so no the aim of the game is to extract as much cash as possible at the counter which agents get generous commissions on. That being said the tactics I observed when I collected was nothing short of disgusting to the point that other customers were almost in tears. The agent that served me tried his hardest but I didn’t fall for any of the scare tactics. I was told I had no insurance for my car only the third party vehicle if I had an accident. This is false as I had total coverage with collision damage waiver and excess payable at 1400 euros. I was then told I wasn’t getting the car I booked as I needed to read the terms of conditions. When I probed further the agent backed down. The whole process took what felt like forever as the agent just stalled almost in a way to provoke and get a reaction so he could then find reason to refuse giving me the car. However after what felt like one of the most challenging experience’s, I was finally given keys and told ‘303’ which I assumed was the parking bay but no further explanation on how to get there. Fortunately I knew ALC airport quite well so could navigate it un-assisted but some gester to offer assistance would have been polite at least. Once I got to the car I inspected it thoroughly and confirmed all damage against the report they had given me. All the damage was marked as it should be but I took some pictures to make sure I had additional evidence. The car was ok and for the price I paid it did the job however I was advised by a Spanish friend that under Spanish traffic law a car with smashed lights is illegal. Goldcar had given me a non- road worthy vehicle ! Upon return I waited almost 10 minutes to check the car in until a miserable and clearly non motivated staff member appeared. She checked the car however like a crime scene investigator with a torch and close attention to detail. So close that she then decided to try and charge me for the broken light !!! Fortunately I had the all the paperwork and my pictures so was able to contest this to the supervisor who quickly stamped my paperwork to say no charge was applicable. Lesson learnt for me - Never use Goldcar ! It could have been an expensive and uncomfortable lesson if I was not wise to the antics that regretfully do on go on in this industry. My advise to you is try Record / Malco or Clickrent in Alicante as prices are good and service is generally better !

Would like to address the circumstances surrounding the agreed rental with EasyTerra and Goldccar : billed to my account for unjustified reasons and due to their lack of cooperation. On the day I picked up the vehicle, I was informed that it needed to be returned clean. However, traveling to the airport inevitably makes the exterior of the car dusty, and there are no cleaning services available in the vicinity of the airport. To my surprise, upon returning the vehicle, I was charged additional fees for the exterior not being cleaned. I view this as not being part of the agreement with EasyTerra-Goldcar and perceive it as a tactic to present a low rental price that ultimately becomes more expensive. In the spirit of mutual cooperation and in light of the agreed rental price, I fully tried to get a refund of the amount charged. No success. Furthermore, I requested that any future pricing clearly indicate if there are expected additional costs associated with local rentals -as this kind of issues

After four years of loyal use of Goldcar, I must leave a negative review because they penalized me €60, stating that I breached the "full-to-full" tank policy. I filled the tank, washed, and vacuumed the car the day before returning it to the airport because I had an early morning return. The trip from my hotel to the airport was about 30 minutes, so I spent approximately €5-8 on fuel. I had left a deposit of €138 for the full-to-full policy and spent €68 returning it to full. Apart from that €60 penalty, I ended up paying €266 in total, which I think is unfair. For this reason, I would not recommend this company.

Absolute scandal!!! We rented a car for 5 days through Carjet, to be picked up in Marseille. I decided that this time I would choose the 'peace of mind' option and purchased additional insurance. Upon arrival in Marseille, I was informed that I didn’t have full insurance and was offered the option to either buy it for - attention please - a non-refundable €150 for a 5-day rental (€30 per day, sic!), or have a €1100 deposit blocked on my card. I told Goldcar that I had already purchased insurance and didn’t need another, to which they responded that the insurance was from a different company, and from Goldcar’s perspective, the car was uninsured. I asked why the cost was so high (€30 per day, when normally it’s between €6–8), and the lady informed me that “peace of mind and stress-free driving” costs that much. When I refused again and agreed to the deposit being blocked, the agent refused to inspect the car with me to note and record any existing scratches or dents. I asked if it was a brand-new car straight from the showroom, because otherwise it must have some marks. I was told to just take photos myself... After finding scratches on the rear of the car, I asked the agent if we could mark them on the form, and said that since I didn’t have extended insurance, I didn’t want to be blamed for them. I was again told to just take photos... In the end, the existing scratches were not included in the report!!! I consider this behaviour by Goldcar employees to be highly inappropriate and strongly advise against renting a car from this company, where scamming customers seems to be standard practice.
