“So I posted my dog here, everything filled out correctly. Paid 10 dollars to have it out for 30 days. Saw it was under review.. next day see that I have an email saying that my post will not be posted.. well okay so where is my money? I emailed them, they avoided the question and then sent me what to do to my other post to get more viewers????????? I know it's not much my where is my 10 dollars”

“Hopeless…full of scammers. “ you still got dis ?” within two milliseconds of the ad going up . And ,”my mate is a courier ,and ting is I owe him £100 , so I’m gonna PayPal you over the money for the item ,plus a hundred quid for him . Then they do a chargeback and disappear with your item and your £100 .”

“Lots of issues with this platform recently, which is a shame, because it used to be a handy site to sell/buy things locally. 1. The mobile app does not allow me to create new ads, but does allow me to reply to ads I've loaded via the website, it always comes up with "unexpected error occurred" and no information on how to fix it. 2. So many people click the auto reply "hi is this still available" then never follow up. 3. A lot of people ask questions that are answered in the ad. 4. Too many rediculous offers 5. Some people even agree to buy and don't show to pay and collect 6 if you allow your number to be viewable, your guaranteed to have scammers message you via what's app and ask for the item to be delivered, clearly not genuine buyers. Your number used to be hidden, but you could get calls/txts via the platform, 7. It seems to be flooded with traders now too, if you search for an item, you often get ads saying an item is for sale in your area, however this is often a trader offering delivery from much further away than advertised”

“Same experience as the other unhappy sellers. Placed an Ad, Even paid for it to be featured. Money came out my bank. Checked my ad few days later and it was removed. No notification it was removed. Contacted them by email. They responded but did not give any reason. Replied asking for my ‘featured’ money back but still no reply from them. It was only £4 so im not too stressed but that is not the point. As bad as ebay is, it is not as bad as gumtree. 1st and last time seller so just beware.”

“Paid to advertise for 2 weeks featured they removed my ad few days later so I asked them to refund my money they refused. I understand the £2.99 fee but the £20 for 2 weeks featured to not refund that is disgusting. I will be taking this further clearly you’ve been ripping loads of people off your company should be prosecuted”

“I am a registered dog breeder. This is the SECOND time in two weeks that GUMTREE has DELETED MY AD! The first time, they deleted it, they advised me that they could not re-post it, that i would have to waste MY TIME FOR THEIR ERROR TO REPOST IT. I asked to have a file note against my file for this NOT to happen again and for them to ensure that this does NOT happen. I paid $18 or $19 to upgrade my ad as the puppies can leave next sunday and just after Gumtree emailed me my receipt to upgrade, they emailed again saying my ad was deleted! UNIMPRESSED!”

“Put my 5 guitars up on gumtree. A bloke named Gaz very quickly responded. He eventually offered to buy 3, despite casting shade on one of them in order to try to put a bit of doubt in mind. I was very clear that it was buyer collect. However Gaz kept on about meeting at service stations miles from my home to do the deal. I was aware this man was a trader and his rationale to get me out of my home was to allow him to review the agreed price and offer less in the hope id capitulate and hed get even more of a bargain than he already had. As a consequence the deal fell through. However, rather than being an adult about it, man child Gaz then reported me and all 5 guitar adverts were immediately removed. Obviously because if he can't get the guitars then no one else is going to get them? Nothing from gumtree about it just a cancellation. I have tried to communicate with gumtree, but they're customer service is appalling. No agents available. My advice is dont use gumtree, its obviously full of these shady Gaz type people who behave unethically (at the very least) while gumtree itself is woefully understaffed and illequpped to actually manage the business in any cohesive way.”

“Rabbish platform Rabbish platform. Constant mistakes Things are happening over a year now no 1 can sort it out Costumer services even worse completely dont know what they doing or how to resolve a problem Just give me a different reason with different adviser this is radicelous Not recommended this platform time wasters and money wasters. They're fast to take ur money but very slow to resolve the problems”

“Rude staff. Hadn't used the site in years, posted an ad selling tickets & paid for 2 weeks front row space. Within a few hours the advert was removed, when contacting their online support, they failed to explain why but instead, supplied a 'Policy Rules' link, when I questioned this & asked for a refund, Gumtree rep then terminated the chat without any explanation. Customer care, pathetic but happy to take your money. AVOID”

“GUMTREE USER !!Hello All i just posted a job needed on painting decorating criteria and I paid 109.99. £ for 7 days of feature advert And i see nobody called or texted and i pay another 10.99£ for bump up advert and still nothing in all London I asked myself why ?? And I tried to find myself on the gumtree website and i can't find myself nowhere I tried even from different gumtree user and still nothing find I tried searching in location and at the criteria Painter decorator and not finding nothing unfortunately im not happy for paying this money for seeing my advert is not displayed on the website And in my profile says is active but is very good hidden please be aware if you pay on this website I tried to contact this customer service number but is not working at all you cam try also 0208 605 3325 And the chatting is not working at all are very bad website i use them for 9 years but now I realised are ripping off our money”

“Same as ebay. Many sellers and or buyers one cannot see their details but they can see yours. I think the majority of them are not even in the uk they might just be gumtree or ebay members of staff playing silly games. I am done with them.”

“Absolute joke. Buyer kept bombarding me with questions that the answers to were written up in the description and each time made an offer of £10 less after I had agreed to the first offer they made. Eventually got cheesed off envisaging all kinds of problems at the payment/ collection stage and messaged him that I would not be selling the item to him. Came back with that this was no way to treat a disabled person ( for real ! ) followed by some choice expletives. To boot he left me with a 1 star review. Have had a couple of transactions that went smoothly but on the whole complete time wasters that never follow when replied to. Searching for another platform to sell odds and sods on.”

“Absolutely rude, these guys will cancel your add without any notice whatsoever, gumtrees had its day there are other far better services out there like marketplace etc. I recently had my adds wiped from my account had some girl taryn come back and say they were just being checked all should be good but il have to re do my adds again as they had been wiped !! So did my adds again wiped again GO JUMP GUMTREE !!”
