Car put in for MOT failed on track rod end, other jobs could not be quoted on until they had been investigated I was quoted £170 to replace track rod end I thought this price was excessive so I got quotes from other local garages I got prices and got the job done for £103 almost £70 cheaper I asked for a price breakdown from Halfords but the manager told me the price was set by a central computer system and he could not provide a breakdown on the price this is not the first time that I have heard about halfords excessive repair costs so take some advice check around for repair costs I guarantee you will save yourself a lot of money

Considering the age of my car, it has never had problems. Since I took it into the garage for a full service and MOT, there has been nothing but problems. I was given a quote when I dropped off my vehicle but was later told it would cost me 379 pounds for the overall services. Unfortunately, I am not knowledgeable when it comes to car parts and the way it works internally, and I feel like this lack of knowledge was taken advantage of. What was shocking too was the fact that after getting the MOT certificate, I started to have problems with my headlights which would not switch on and could hear a loud sound which sounded like the wheels were going to fall off. I called back the next day and reported this- took it into the garage- and was told that the rear wheel bearer is completely damaged and needed to be replaced. I made it clear that I will not be paying for it to be replaced as I had already paid a hefty amount of money for a full service and MOT the day before clearly, these problems should have been addressed in order for the car MOT to be passed? The manager was willing to cover the costs at least, which put my mind at ease but I overheard his conversation when he was requesting the car part needed for the car and had clearly purchased the cheapest equipment to fix the damage. He may have thought I was a quiet, timid customer, but I am definitely not stupid. This is the first time I have had my car serviced and let's just say that I have learnt my lesson and will avoid it if I ever need a MOT or full service again.
