Terrible service. Rude officers. Employing dishonest and volatile people. Theft from overturned vehicles where goods / belongings have been spilt onto the road and if you really want an interesting read … request a freedom of information from the business and ask how many times there are signal failures where members of the public are at risk with no protection from signals. And, how many officers have criminal records (West Midlands I know of one that was in uniform and stabbed another driver outside of work time in a road rage incident, the business kept him employed after given punishment in court)

For a start a lot of the roads and particular where I drive in North Lancashire are appalling, its ok saying its the local authority, but shouldn,t a body like yours be telling them to get sorted out. The other infuriating thing on the main roads is the signs that are completely or partially covered in bushes or trees, very annoying when you are not from that area, guessing where you have to go. I recently went to Whitby, and the amount of signs covered was ridiculous. Should you not again as a highway authority be sending directives to all authorities and also your own responsibility roads to please keep the signs visible,. otherwise what is your purpose?

Do not, under any circumstances follow the diversions this useless company put on roads, especially if you’re a HGV driver. I stupidly followed their diversion when A1 southbound was closed just south of Grantham last night. I followed their diversion signs for 23 miles until I reached a sign saying diversion ends, road closed. There were at least 20 HGVs following the signs. My advice, pull over, get out your map and plot your own diversion.

Totally useless, 3rd June 2023, didn't warn far enough in advance junction 23 to 22 was completely closed for roadworks, forced down to round about with poorly marked diversion signs, the website didn't make it clear that the road was completely shut, absolute fiasco, I can't believe these people get paid for being so incompetent

A Friday evening 9pm and our car broke down in a live ('smart') lane of the M25. Watching my husband put a warning triangle out in the lane was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. The police response to a 999 call was fantastic. They contacted the Highways Agency, talked me through what to do and even before I'd finished speaking, the lane had been closed and the recovery vehicle was there. The HA guys who helped us couldn't have been more skilled, professional, kind and helpful, and never have I been more grateful for someone to take control of a precarious situation. All those drivers who complain of lanes being closed unnecessarily, might stop and think about those stuck in fear of their lives and those who come out to help them.

in my area in Kent the Highways agency have constantly created hold ups with ridiculous schemes and roadwork like all around Ashford. They make no sense and go on forever. M20 total wasted time on Operation Brock which was a colossal failure, the M20 is only clear for a short time before some new Daft scheme to bring money down from government starts. whilst this is going on potholes are appearing everywhere. Do you people not get that motorists just want roads open they can use, simple. National disgrace

Don't even deserve 1 star, the highways agency I think are run by a lot of people who don't really know what they are doing and employ a damn lazy good for nothing work force, they have closed lanes on the m48 bridge for nearly a year for maintenance on the bridge which they 1st said it would be finished nearly 4 months ago. This is causing hours of gridlock in the morning and I have to leave my house at 5.30am to get to work on time. A journey that normally takes 50 mins now takes 2 hrs and 30 mins, this is unacceptable.

On Monday 17th October st 11am I was diverted off the A12 near Kelvedon. I followed a diversion for 30 mins only to return back to where The diversion started albeit travelling in the opposite direction. This process was followed twice adding an hour to my journey. I had a dog in the boot and was visiting my dad who was starting chemotherapy the next morning. I called the highways agency and logged a complaint. I received a call just now (a week later) to receive an apology. No consequence to offset the fuel used driving for an additional hour following the diversion twice! Furthermore, I really wanted to understand how my feedback was to affect the service / procedures going forward. A complete waste of time; ticking boxes and kicking the can down the road. This is the epitome of today - no responsibility taken, nor improvement desired and a dead end line of communication. No holistic oversight or useful feedback or insights acted upon, just another unfulfilled job (and that means an unfulfilled person) and a salary wasted

Why do you employ cowboys the M27 should of finished last spring yet still lane closures are you going to pay compensation for miles added to journeys and being late doing 40 mph on miles of motorway with no one working on them which I expect will be going on for years you lot couldn't organise a p##s up in a brewery

My wife, and our petrified dog were sheltering behind a barrier on the M5 after a tyre blow out. I phoned Highways Agency and explained our situation. They told me they do not send out or recommend any roadside assistance, then asked me for further details. I politely pointed out that giving him further details on the edge of lethal motorway traffic was not my immediate priority and rang off. After getting the tyre changed at services we continued our journey. We came across debris in the fast lane of the motorway, and it looked like a wheelbarrow. I called the Highways Agency and ended up 5th in the 'Debris on motorway queue'. I hung up phoned 999 and got instantaneous response and a thankyou - others had rang and they were dealing with it. So my point is - what is the point of the Highways agency as they seem thoroughly incapable of dealing with traffic emergencies.

Quite possibly the most inept organisation I've ever come across. No consideration for how their road closures impact residential areas. No policing of speeds. Many closures could easily be avoided.
