“So we purchased an acoustic grade panel to help with tamping down the noise of nearby highway traffic. The insert has helped somewhat but not to the level we expected. We have already replaced one window facing the highway in an adjoining room with a Pella triple pane and that window does a better job than the Indow panel. Of course the cost is a lot more for the window as well versus the insert. We had hoped that the insert would be at least as good as the Pella window if not better and we were going to order some more. Now not sure.”

David, Thanks for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that the inserts have not helped to the level that you expected. The Pella triple pane versus our insert used with an existing double pane is usually quite close in noise reduction performance, but all sound situations are unique. The results can vary due to the type and style of the existing window and the amount of space between the insert and the window. Also, other factors such as the frequency/direction of the sound and the other materials in your walls and ceiling can affect results. The fit of the insert (something we can certainly troubleshoot with you) can also be at play. We would love an opportunity to ensure the fit and placement of the inserts are providing optimal performance. We will reach out separately to discuss these options. Thanks again for the feedback.

“The window inserts have been amazing. We used to have lots of street noise that disrupted our sleep, but the inserts made a huge difference. I would guess a 75%+ reduction in sounds. Now we only sort of hear the loudest cars or sirens, and it’s quiet enough we can sleep without disruption.”

“I bought my Indowindows for insulating reasons. I got them during a hot spell and what a difference they made! I am assuming they will work equally as well in the cold New England winter. I might actually keep the heat a few degrees warmer!”

“I live close (about 0.4 miles) from a busy street where illegal and very loud street racing happens in weekends, at night. My house is on top of a hill and there isn't much in the way to block the noise. I got the noise reduction window insert and it does reduce the noise by a lot (maybe 80-90% noise reduction). I was a little worried about the entire measuring and fit process, but actually it went pretty smooth. I measured the window myself with a measuring tape and the insert fits very well. I highly recommend the insert.”

“Unbelievable product! It took our windows project from unfeasible financially to affordable, energy-efficient, and soundproof which was more than we could have ever asked for. The inserts were 1/4 of the cost of replacing the windows.”

“They fit very well. They do decrease the external noise by a minimum of at least 60%. I highly recommend them. I'm on a busy street and this is fantastic for cutting noise level.”

Kevin, Thanks for the review. Besides energy savings and noise reduction, the thing we are most proud of is our unobtrusive design. The clarity of the optical grade acrylic used in our inserts is certainly a major part of this design. Being clearer than glass, the inserts do not interfere with the look of the existing windows or the view to the outside. Of course, you may have to clean a few "noseprints" from time to time. “The sound reduction is fantastic on our acoustic window insert. We live on a busy road and had a very large 3-window length insert made and it fits fantastic and does an amazing job. It helps my wife sleep at night and that was worth every penny.”

“So far, so good. I really need to wait for the winter months to see how well they buffer the cold drafts. I haven't seen any difference in taking the edge off the heat as was suggested.”

“I had 9 inserts made, with 3 going into one large window. Six work just fine. I found the corner fit, finish and material at the corners and pillar areas problematic for some inserts. One compression side piece split at the corner, one inside corner had separated, and the compression was not adequate to totally seal around the pillars top and bottom anchors. They all look very good in our windows.”

Based on the info you here, the fit issues are covered by our SungFit guarantee and the condition issues would most likely be covered by our limited lifetime warranty. “I do not hear any of the neighbors dogs we have to get used to it being quiet cut out all the noise we don’t hear anything It’s one of the best things that we have done to our home the only problem is you don’t hear the crickets anymore and the thunder”

“Customer service is very good. Informed, smart, communicative representatives helped me from initial inquiries, measuring, ordering and a post install issue with a chain location. The window inserts are as sound proof effective as marketed. They don’t 100% reduce outside street noise, but they have made my home livable. Inserting them myself (I’m 61 and very petite) was doable - any my inserts are large! My husband, who was initially against ordering the inserts due to the relatively high cost, is now glad we bought them. I likely will order more for additional rooms.”

“Overall, the inserts are great, but it is a tedious process. If you have a lot of large windows, the measurement process is pretty painful. I wish they would partner with TaskRabbit or someone to have local certified folks to help measure and install. Customer service is excellent and very responsive though! The inserts themselves arrived in great condition and all fit perfectly, which is pretty amazing since I had 6 large windows. Soundproofing was about as I had expected. Excellent for higher frequencies, not so much for lower frequencies. The window corners do not insert quite right, but I was able to workaround that issue. Overall though, the windows are doing their job and helping us and our baby get some sleep in a noisy neighborhood!!”

Rachel, Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. We are concerned by your response, both about the lack of performance you have reported and the visibility. Because our inserts have been independently tested to reduce sound coming through the window areas, we would like an opportunity to work with you to ensure proper placement and fit, as these are usually the causes for reduced performance. Regarding visibility, our inserts are made with optical grade acrylic (clearer than glass). They do ship with a semi-opaque protective film that would need to be removed. Perhaps this was not removed as instructed? We will reach out separately to discuss both fit/placement and to ensure the film has been removed properly. While all sound situations are unique, we believe strongly that with a bit of troubleshooting, we can ensure the sound reduction available in your situation can be maximized.

“We put a total of 4 Blackout Indow Inserts in to 3 windows in our Master bedroom. The center window was too wide to use a single insert. I was given an excellent explanation by the Indow sales consultant, Martin, about how the mullion bar would work, prior to deciding to proceed with requesting the laser measuring kit. Our Master bedroom is on the back of our home, which has a very busy major street running behind it, and also happens to be on the west/sun-setting side. I have always encountered frustrations installing curtain rods and even then, blackout curtains seem to still let in more light than my wife and I wanted. The Blackout Indow Inserts have addressed the light issue so much better than any blackout curtains ever could. The sound reduction from the traffic and a significant temperature reduction in our bedroom are bonus aspects to these investments in our home. The Inserts were easy to press in to place and fit perfectly. My wife and I are extremely pleased with the results and highly recommend Indow Window Inserts”
