“As always with internet purchases, I was holding my breath on my recent purchase of inserts! However, everything suggested by everyone I spoke to via telephone, email and text, was verified when I received and installed my inserts!!! Nothing short of phenomenal; fit, sound deadening qualities, (yet to discover energy savings), and customer service is excellent!! I highly recommend this company and product!!”

“Good quality window inserts. Easy to install. Unfortunately, doesn't do much to block road noise that I was hoping it would help with. Website is clear on the uses so I can't say it was false advertising, just buyer error.”

We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the noise reduction level you had hoped for. In many situations, troubleshooting the fit of the inserts can be effective in increasing the sound reduction properties. We are happy to help with that. Sometimes, due to the many variables at play in each unique sound environment, other soundproofing measures need to be implemented in conjunction with our inserts in order to receive the desired level of sound reduction.

“We ordered 4 Indow Window inserts to see how they worked on our steel casement windows. We are very pleased with the fit and finish, and especially the improvement in wintertime comfort. Steel casements present challenging issues when trying to improve efficiency. The only downside for our installation is it required the removal of the locking and operating hardware to work in concert with our window treatments. The attached photo is during installation with Indow inserts installed on the two left pair; not yet installed on the two right pair. Pretty minimal visual difference! I'm now ordering 17 more inserts for the rest of the house.”

“Our acoustic window inserts have definitely reduced the amount of street noise coming into our apartment. While we can still hear the train as the engines pass by the noise from the train cars is very muted. Likewise we still hear the drunken club patrons yelling, but it no longer seems like they are in the room with us. Our big negative would be that the blinds we enclosed in the space between our single pane and the insert melted and warped within the first week. I don’t think there was any mention in the directions about the possibility of heat build up and potential consequences. That might be good for people to know.”

“Finally, a solution that doesn't break the bank and allows you to keep your existing windows. We bought ours primarily for additional soundproofing as our builder used dual-pane glass. It makes a measurable difference - 20 dB. The bonus is the insulation value. It's been a mild spring and our main bedroom at the front of the house facing the morning sun is much cooler. I suspect it will be warmer in winter as well. If you follow the self-measure and installation instructions to the letter, they go in easily. We have floor-to-ceiling windows, so we had massive inserts, but it was still manageable for two people.”

“The measurement process was overly complicated - I understand the desire to get a tight fit into not perfectly square windwos, but a 17 page manual for something you can accomplish with math felt unnecessary. I also found the interface to be a bit challenging to work with when inputting fractions that necessarily had to be rounded but the system didn't like my entry. Otherwise, the inserts themselves fit well, very tight, noticeable noise reduction. I am so satisfied with them that I am considering placing another order (depending on whether I want to also spend the money to change window treatments).”

“What a great option for old homes with drafty windows! Our home's windows are so drafty that the curtains in our bedroom would move/blow when it was windy out. The communication with Indows was excellent, and our questions were answered promptly. We thought the measuring process would be a pain, and we were worried we would not be accurate enough, but the kit they sent along with the instructional videos made it very easy. The Indows were delivered in a large wooden crate, and they made it through shipping unharmed (just some dirt marks on the silicon tubing, most of it came off with Castille soap, but some dark smudges did remain on the white tubing--our only disappointment). Our windows are huge, so we installed the little safety chain provided and inserting them was a 2 person job. There was a little bit of a learning curve with the first Indow, but we can take them in and out fairly easily now. The fit was perfect, and we noticed a difference in the temperature of our home right away. Our house stayed warmer, our furnace ran less, and our curtains are no longer blowing in drafts. The product looks great, and blends right in with our woodwork! We will definitely order more for the few windows we didn't do, and we would recommend this company and product to anyone.”

“They really work! While I still hear traffic (mostly trucks and motorcycles) normal car traffic is virtually silenced. I'm still not able to sleep in the room because we get so many trucks I am able to use this room as an office space now, which was my goal. This room was once the noisiest room in my house and now I enjoy coming up here to watch tv. Thank you!”

“Not happy at all with my inserts. We live behind a rather busy 2 lane road and the traffic noise is rather loud. The inserts maybe block 10% of the traffic noise. I knew there would still be noise but had such high hopes that it would block more sound. TBH some does it doesnt even sound like we have window inserts. I have watched videos and am confident they are in right as well. I was really hoping these would block more noise than they do and am very disappointed.”

We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the sound reduction that you were expecting. Our records show that you had inquired about some gaps in the fit which are likely the key reason why the sound reduction is not as substantial. We offer a snug fit guarantee, so in cases where there are such fit issues, we offer remedial assistance including remakes if necessary. To that end we have followed up several times to troubleshoot the gaps issue since it was reported to us. As yet, we have received no response. We will continue to contact you in hopes that we can troubleshoot the fit of your inserts and maximize the sound reduction properties. We look forward to getting this issue resolved for you.

“Only one thing to say... I am absolutely in love with the indow insert.. We only did a few windows to see if they would be workable and suitable for us up here in the north,, and what I can say is they are great. Will order for the rest of the house when the funds warrant. The procedure was painless and the questions answered well. The overall packaging was a bit destroyed when delivered but there was no damage to the inserts and considering the length of travel to the destination it was to be expected. Overall very happy.”

We have seen a few instances like yours where, because of package mishandling, the packaging took a bit of beating. “For the past two years, I've been looking for something to reduce the traffic noise during the morning rush hour. Finally, I came to the conclusion of replacing the windows. I was researching things on the internet when I came up with their website. I researched it and compared the costs. I read all the articles and reviews. This seems like the best option. “The Indows seem to fit well, they do stop air leaks and they do dampen outdoor sounds. As far as room temperature control, though, I have to say I don't see a difference. Ours is an old house, the rooms were cold, and they're still cold. Our home insulation is likely so inadequate that it dwarfs the windows' contributions. This uncertainty is an important issue that the company ought to address somehow. Another obvious issue is that for large, double-hung windows, removal, storage and re-installation of the Indows is an awkward and time-consuming process, so that getting some fresh air in the room can become a chore.”

James, Thanks for the feedback. We are happy to hear that your inserts are stopping air leaks and dampening sounds as designed. We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing a difference in home heating. From the info given, I would venture to say that more time will show the difference in home heating costs. It is a good point about lack of insulation in other aspects of the home. The inserts can only control the cold entering and exiting the home through those window areas. In conjunction with other insulation corrections, you would certainly see a greater difference. As to getting fresh air into the room, I might suggest a technique that other customers utilize, if feasible: The inserts can be dislodged and can hang in place on the safety chains for short periods. This allows the air to enter, while remaining stored nearly in place for convenience. This is not recommended for extended periods, as the pull of the chains can lead to slight deforming of the insert which sometimes can affect refitting. Anyway, thank you for the feedback. We are always willing to help with any issue or concern you may have.

“Excellent solution to completely replacing all 16 of my windows The cost was 28% of all new windows. Window fit was excellent. 9 of my windows were 36x55 inches. My bay windows were 21x 55 very large and very odd sizes. Great job !”

“I am very happy with Indow. I am a therapist and am very interested in having a quiet room. My windows were very old and very porous. Someone told me about window inserts - so I decided to use Indow. Using window inserts was something very new to me - so I was unsure initially. Indow made everything very clear and created a very simple and thorough process. My initial salesperson was very helpful. As I proceeded through each step, I found it very understandable and doable. There were both written and video instructions. Now my windows are so much better at blocking the sound! I barely hear the traffic and people talking out front - which was quite regular prior to the inserts. Sounds outside could easily have distracted a session as my client and I turned and reacted to a loud sound. Now I forget it was even an issue and take the quiet for granted. I highly recommend!”

“After doing a little research on window inserts I decided to take a shot with Indow. I was a bit hesitant but the whole process was super easy and I had all the support I needed when measuring the windows. The shipment was faster than quoted and everything showed up without any damage. the inserts themselves were amazingly simple to pop in and back out as needed. Now for the best part, Living in new England fuel costs in the Winter (Oil) can be pretty rough. During our first Winter with the inserts we ended up saving $3,000 on our oil costs year over year! to say I was a bit surprised while being ecstatic would be an understatement as this represents about half the cost of the actual inserts! This also means that after using them this Summer while running the A/C during the hottest months and again next winter, the inserts will have paid for themselves in a single year (2 winter seasons) of use. I would say we got a big bang for our bucks and would recommend these inserts to anyone else interested!! 10/10!! Side Note: I worked with Reed on my inserts and he was fantastic!!”

It can be truly amazing how much savings can be attained through the use of our inserts. This is especially true when, as you mentioned, the cost of heating oil is involved. You also bring up a point that most do not think of when it comes to energy savings: the cost of A/C. Because our inserts help regulate temperatures in the home throughout the year, the savings (and comfort) is maximized in every season.
