“Drew Murdock sold me some window inserts. Promised that they would significantly reduce the sound of the street entering my home. Bought them. They were installed. And, I haven't noticed any sizeable difference to justify the hefty price tag. I want my money back. I've voiced my dissatisfaction with the company and no has provided any remedy to this complaint. Buyers beware. Purchase from elsewhere!”

Indow stands behind the sound testing information we share about sound reduction that customers can expect from our inserts. However, we do not make performance guarantees because every noise situation is different and depends on many factors including the building, the source of the noise, the frequency of the noise and importantly, the client's perception of noise reduction. Because Indow did not transact with you directly, we are not able to respond to your concerns. Our resellers are trained to assess each situation and discuss possible outcomes with their client. We encourage you to discuss your concerns with your reseller.

“The quality of the construction and materials appears to be good, but the inserts haven't fully met my expectations. While they have helped to reduce the noise level from the road, they haven't helped as much as I thought they would. Based on my experience with them, I certainly wouldn't rush to buy more of them for other windows in my home.”

“I bought the Indow window insert in hopes of reducing the volume of the neighbor's dog barking in my office when I was working. The sales person who I spoke with originally told me that he couldn't guarantee that the Indow window insert would help, but he said that he thought it might. I decided to go for it. Unfortunately, it does virtually nothing to reduce the volume of the dog barking or any other sound for that matter. In one sense, I can't hold this against the company because the sound is likely getting into my home through paths other than the window. However, I provide this review to warn anyone buying a window insert in order to reduce the volume that there is a strong possibility that it won't help. It's a lot of money to have spent on something that had virtually zero positive effect. Additionally, it seems to me that the price of these window inserts is high given their quality.”

We are happy to troubleshoot any fit issues that may contribute to the lessened performance. While our inserts have been proven through independent testing to reduce sound, all sound environments are indeed unique. It may very well be that the sound is entering the room through areas other than the window openings. As stated, we would love to continue to work with you to ensure you are getting the most out of the inserts.

“in general, I think I will be very happy with the Indows, and your service all around was really great! I would suggest that you find a different shipper than Tforce; I’d had problems with them before, both in adding cost after the shipment, not calling as promised before delivery, and in general feeling very uncomfortable with them. My installer noticed a small nick but it must have been limited to the plastic covering because I don't see it. But that’s my only beef about the services we received; your response was quick, efficient, and tailored to us. My beefs are that my Indows did NOT need the safety seals! In fact with the mullions the other end couldn’t even be installed. So we cut off the chains. But 3 of the 5 Indows are on windows that do not open! And, on the other 2, I won’t be able to use them since they open out and up, and my windows open sliding up from the bottom. So extra work for the installation and they won’t be used. Also my installers mis-read the instructions and washed my Indows with the solution, but they are carpenters not window washers! I would have liked separate, printed directions for the homeowners that explain the Indow washing needs and process. They do seem to make a difference as far as drafts, though I’ll need to wait til next winter to see how much! Also, and this surprised me because I just got regular, not noise-reducing ones, is that they do reduce the noise! Thanks so much!”

“Very please by responsive during order process for my skylight acoustical glass sound abatement insert. Was delivered well prior to timeline first estimates - installation was simple and I am not a handyman. The results are beyond what was expected. Nearby 5-lane road noise very much reduced. An ah-hah moment . Problem is I have two large windows that need sound attenuation now because they have become noticeable as another noise source. They would be just too expensive to acquire - at least I the near term. Recommend them as people as well as the product extremely high. Glad to have found a company in this industry niche I can trust.”

“I'm a skeptical person who likes to keep my expectations in check. I wasn't sure if Indow windows would help cancel noise from a busy street right outside my window BUT THEY FREAKING WORK! “It didn't work well in my condo. I can still hear the train from 3 miles away & turkeys in the backyard. I watched every single YouTube video & instruction I received & contacted Indow corporate (whom were helpful) however it still didn't help. It reduced the noise a tiny bit but not worth $700. It may be my outer wall.”

Although our inserts are indeed proven to reduce sound coming through window openings, it appears that, as you point out, it may be construction materials in other areas that are contributing more to your particular sound issue. As all sound environments are different, it is sometimes necessary to use other soundproofing measures in conjunction with our inserts to completely solve a sound issue. “We had 3 to install. The first took about an hour, but the next 2 about 15 minutes each. The written instructions were hard to follow, but the video was great. They look great and definitely curtail noise as we live about one block off of one of Tucson’s busiest intersections. Thanks for the precision workmanship.”

“The customer service was excellent. Can’t say enough great things on that front. I ordered two windows as a trial before ordering inserts for all of the upstairs windows. One window was a perfect fit, the second was not snug in one corner. Both were measured the same way. Snug fit or not, the inserts did not reduce the noise (train horns) by a noticeable level. To be fair it is an older house so the noise may very well be from poor insulation and there is nothing any amount of window inserts can do. I also already have double pain newish windows. All in all I think it could be great for some use cases but if you are looking to damp down noise, and you have double pain windows, I would try one or two inserts first.”

While we are very happy to be recognized for our customer service, we are sorry that you are not experiencing the sound reduction you were hoping for. We are happy to troubleshoot the fit as well as any other issues that may be interfering with the maximization of the sound reduction. While it is true that other factors such as insulation and wall materials can affect sound transmission in a room, we would want to ensure that we are doing everything we can to optimize the inserts. That way, you can proceed with any other soundproofing measures needed in an informed manner. It is also true that the sound reduction is not as dramatic with existing double pane windows as with single pane. Your advice about conducting a few trial windows is certainly good, as long as the test area does not have additional window openings that are left without inserts. Thanks again for the feedback.

“Very pleased with the product's design. Easily fit inside an old recessed skylight built into the sloped ceiling upstairs of my 1987 home. Frame edge was flexible and tight fitting.”

“Package arrived on time and the quality of the product seems to be accurate. Very clean and easily installable. I personally have not experienced any difference In outdoor noise though. Birds chirping, dogs barking, vehicles traveling on a road over 1000’ feet away. I’m sure the insert has some quality in saving energy but that was not why I bought it.”
