“I signed up for the TEFL certification class with the International Tefl Academy with a plan to get a semi-retirement teaching position in Guatemala after twenty-five years in another field. I was the oldest person in my class and a little nervous about how not only the class but getting a job in Guatemala would go. After four years here I have taught in two nonprofit schools and one private school in three different cities. I have always felt well prepared and have always been well received as a TEFL-certified teacher. The preparation I received from ITA and the positive experience it allowed me to start with, have helped me continue to learn and I am now opening a school of my own. I could not be happier with my experience with ITA. I would also like to make myself available to anyone interested in coming to teach in Guatemala. Despite what you read in the news, Guatemala is a wonderful country filled with happy, friendly people. There is a huge demand for English teachers supported by a growing middle class. “It had been a big goal of mine to graduate from International TEFL Academy. I'm grateful to say I finally did it and everything about it and more was better than I had imagined. If this is your dream, do not waste time by feeling overwhelmed! The entire process, from signing up to becoming alumni, was smooth. There is help with every step and if you are ever confused, there will be someone or something to answer your questions. Before you know it, you'll be seeing the world and ITA will STILL be around to help!”

“As an experienced adult education teacher, I learned so much to take my international teaching career to the next level. Everyone at The Academy is very helpful and responsive to questions or concerns. The part-time online program was exactly what I needed during the pandemic. I looked forward to the videos, discussions, and content provided. I feel totally prepared to begin my job search abroad!”

“Hi everyone! I received my TEFL certificate in the fall of 2014, I know it was some time ago! I thought the online course was great. The instructors and other participants were helpful. It was work, but it went smoothly. I went to Seoul in 2015 for a year and a half, then went to Madrid for a year. I loved teaching abroad. I was a teacher in the states, and decided that wasn't for me, so that's why I signed up for this program. Now fast forward to January 2023. My husband and I want to relocate to Costa Rica, and what better way to do that than to teach abroad again! this is where my experience with International TEFL Academy goes south. I contacted them via email regarding how to obtain a copy of my certificate and to speak to someone about help with a placement in Costa Rica. They responded quickly, but needed further info. I provided them with that info and they wrote back saying they couldn't find what I was needing. Since then, 1 month has passed. No one has EVER contacted me although I have left at least one voicemail a week and have called several times a week with no answer from the Student Affairs department. I was able to reach a young gal at the front desk I'm assuming, who is very nice each time I speak with her. She says she will send my info/request to the SA and even to a supervisor. I find this unacceptable! I went with this company because of the guarantee of lifetime help/placement. I have already ben accepted with another TEFL academy for a placement in CR. This interaction from first conversation, to interview, to being hired was less than a week. I'm almost ok with paying them $1,300 for the placement, but I should not have to.”

“The team at International TEFL Academy is amazing! They helped set me up in so many ways to get ready to leave and teach in Taiwan. They were able to give me all the information I needed to get certified and for classes, as well as give me some information about Taiwan itself and what I could expect out of it. I was able to meet up with people while in Taiwan that were also Alumni from International TEFL Academy. I would suggest them to anyone looking to travel abroad and teach!”

“I had a great experience at ITA! The teachers were very knowledgeable and helpful. The job search guidance was helpful, especially the recruiters that came in and talked to me and my classmates. “My TEFL certification from ITA helped me land a great part-time teaching English job in my home city in the U.S. As I go through the required professional development classes to be state certified, many of the topics were already covered in my ITA course. When I retire I plan to take this experience and ITA credentials to move abroad.”

“I had decided to teach English in Japan and was browsing the internet looking for a TEFL school, so as to gain some experience and qualifications. I happened to click on International TEFL Academy's website, and it was one of the best clicks I could have made. From the moment I browsed the site and requested more information to the moment that I graduated, International TEFL Academy was amazing all the way through. My advisor was extremely helpful in setting everything up, and my teacher of the course was awesome. Overall, I had an awesome time and learned a ton in the comfort of my own home with the online program. Being able to take the course from home was extremely valuable to me as I work full-time as a manufacturing engineer. Everything worked out. After graduation, I was assigned Glenn from the Student Affairs Department, who helped me greatly all throughout my job search. I ended up accepting a position as an ALT working in Toshima city, Tokyo, and move there this December 2022! It was my dream to come to Tokyo, and I feel that I wouldn't have been able to do it this way without International TEFL Academy.”

“I took the 4-week intensive. Both my theory instructor, Nicole Vail, and practicum instructor, Juliana Dukov, were excellent. It's a good amount of work but the assignments are interesting and teach you a lot. I'm so happy I chose ITA and would recommend it to anyone looking to get TEFL-certified.”

“The TEFL course I took with ITA was well-paced and well-organized. My instructor was responsive and helpful in her feedback on my written assignments. I learned a lot about designing lessons, developing students' confidence and skill, and managing the classroom. Overall, the course set a good foundation for my career teaching English overseas.”

“I felt very prepared to teach English abroad as a foreign language thanks to International TEFL Academy. I appreciated the chapters on cultural differences between specific cultures. The information I learned about Hofstede's Five Dimensions of a Culture still informs how I interact with my foreign students today. I am also very grateful for the experience I gained from the required observation and teaching practice. It was a relief to have gotten the experience of getting up in front of a class of students for the first time over with before my big move. I am now teaching English as a foreign language in my home country, after returning from 18 months abroad. Part of why I chose ITA was their commitment to supporting me as an ESL teacher for life. I'm grateful to know that ITA will be there to support me should I ever decide to teach abroad again.”

“The course was very well thought out, and the instructor gave excellent feedback on every assignment. It was intimidating, at first, but I quickly learned that I was not the only student experiencing those feelings. Both the instructor and my classmates were extremely supportive throughout the course. I am not new to online learning, and I felt this was one of the better classes I've experienced. All the materials provided were excellent. I almost feel like it should be a longer course, given the quality of the content. You will get out of it what you put into it.”

“I am a Canadian citizen, semi-retired, living and working in Hong Kong. I took the TEFL program to add a different skill set to undertake some pro bono teaching support to NGOs in the Asian region. I found the program excellent in design and delivery. The support through the process was outstanding, both administratively as well as from the academic support leader assigned to my program. The program was well regarded and accepted in the HK parochial school system I completed my practicum requirement here in Hong Kong. It was just too much fun with the kids and it also had the effect of helping me with my Cantonese. Super program, fantastic people, highly recommended !”
