“The arrangements made by weekend a la carte were excellent. Transport from airport to hotel in Verona and from Verona to Gardone and Gardone to airport was efficient and courteous. Drivers arrived on time and the cars were clean. Two of three drivers spoke English. We liked the Hotel Accademia in Verona very much; the room was comfortable and quiet and a very good central position. The pre-opera buffet dinner was an easy option, but there are plenty of restaurants to chose from in the vicinity. The Savoy Palace Hotel in Gardone was less to our taste. Whilst the room was large with an excellent terrace, everything was rather 'tired', and the service was not very good. It was nobody's fault that the weather was bad! We got through Tosca on 14th with four rain breaks, but Aida on 15th was abandoned about half way through. We had read the forecast, so were well prepared. What we saw of Aida was wonderful, Tosca rather second rate. The seats were excellent on both occasions. Unfortunately, the weather on Lake Garda was also bad, with only half a day of sunshine, so it was not possible to enjoy the beauty of the place fully. We were very satisfied with the arrangements made by weekend a la carte, and found all the people we dealt with most helpful.”

“We had a great break. All the travel arrangements worked as planned , the hotel was excellent and the seats at the operas were first class. Highly recommended .”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our break in Verona. The itinerary provided omitted the second opera we had expected to see - Aida- but luckily when we checked in to the hotel, vouchers for both performances of Tosca and Aida- were waiting for us. The taxi waiting for us on arrival was good and the same lady took us back to the airport, so that worked well. For the Tosca, there was rain (with a bit of thunder and lightning) and the performance stopped twice because of the danger of damaging the orchestra instruments, but continued to finish.. On the second (Aida) night, rain stopped play two thirds of the way thru the third act and we left as there was no sign of the rain stopping. Luckily, very luckily, we missed little, but it is a gamble and there is no obvious compensation if the rain writes off the opera. A risk that you need to make apparent.. Overall, very pleased.”

“What a find a company that gives more then I expected. Our first opera and first time to Verona. Flights perfect times no late check out fees. Private air conditioned Mercedes-Benz transfered was excellent. Hotel well placed for arena and close to shops and restaurants. Food at hotel for breakfast great choice and cater for gluten free group member. verona pass what a great idea we visited so many amazing places free with pass and bus travel included made the break. But best of all to be centre gold section right in front of the stage in the arena for the opera. Best seats available everything was perfect and I couldn't ask for more. We couldn't fault the service from start to finish. We will definitely recommend and use ourselves again..”

“Our short break in Verona was a birthday gift to my husband. It was the first time I had used Weekend a la Carte, but I need not have worried. We had the best organised short break ever. We were driven from the airport to our hotel and really appreciated the room upgrade that had been obtained for us. Our evening at the opera was superb as we had marvellous tickets for Tosca, and the rain was kind to us as, although it threatened, it did not fall. The hospitality of our restaurant hosts made the wine tasting which was arranged all the more enjoyable. We managed some shopping, sightseeing and, of course, restaurants. We were collected on time at our hotel and driven to the airport for our flight home, and were already planning another visit next year. Thank you, Weekend a la Carte for making my husband's birthday one to remember.”

“I need a higher star rating than "very good"! The whole trip was superb. Lovely hotel with friendly ever helpful staff, transfers were all done on time by equally friendly and helpful people in Mercedes cars far better than I have at home and the seats we had at the opera exceeded our high expectations. Wonderful view of an absolutely superb spectacle on both nights we attended the Arena. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. If you are considering this holiday through this company and have any doubts at all cast them aside and go. Not only will you not be disappointed you are likely to be as blown away by the whole experience as we were.”

“Most things went brilliantly and the itinerary was very well planned. When things went slightly wrong then they were sorted out very quickly and efficiently. The opera seats at Verona were superb and the church/museum passes a great way of getting to see all the sites of interest. Parc du Salo Hotel is 1960's "high quality retro" if that makes sense! It's location is excellent on the edge of the lake and then just a short walk into the pretty town with so many bars, cafes and restaurants along the promenade again overlooking the lake.”

“The service provided by the booking agency I found to be extremely helpful. Hotel Firenze in Verona was one of the best hotels I have stayed in in a long time. The position was ideal.The staff were extremely helpful and the service excellent. The Hotel Bonticello in Venice did not quite live up to the hotel in Verona.Although the bedroom room was of a good size the air conditioning was not adequate to keep the room cool. The breakfast also left a lot to be desired. The travel arrangements all went smoothly.”

“Fantastic seats for the opera. Comfortable, punctual car transfers and the hotel in Verona was perfect. -couldn't have been in a better location with friendly, helpful staff and very welcome air conditioning and blackout in the rooms. In retrospect though, it would have been better to stay another day or two in Verona as there was so much to see and another night at the opera might have been a good idea. We didn't really have enough time it Lake Garda .”

“Other than a slight glitch with the instructions to the Florence hotel due to recent changes in the one way system (when we did arrive a stiff drink was required) the trip was well organised and took account of our own self booked week in the countryside in the middle as well as a fantastic Palio experience. We had 3 nights in Florence and I think in retrospect 4 would, have been better. Expensive but worth it.”

“This was a magnificent trip faultlessly organised. We were based at three locations, Lake Garda, Verona and Milan. All of our transport turned up on time, the cars were luxurious, and the drivers extremely helpful. The three hotels were first class. We had a balcony room overlooking Lake Garda. T he excursion to Isola del Garda was a delight. We were shown round by Alberta the daughter of the Cavazza/Borgese Family who spoke perfect English. (their mother is English by birth.) The Accademia in Verona is excellent, very centrally placed. All of our documents were awaiting us and all in good order. We had excellent seats for the opera, Nabucco, and enjoyed it so much that we booked again for Aida two nights later. As advised, three nights was just right for Verona which is a charming place. The Hotel la Ville in Milan is magnificent. The staff were very friendly and helpful (except for the serving staff at breakfast who wer5re a bit uncommunicative - couldn't work out why as all the rest were wonderful. We did not get to see Leonardo's Last Supper in spite of all our efforts to book online and by telephone. Staff at the hotel told us that it is notoriously difficult. We went for our art fix to the Brera which is really worth while. So full marks to Hannah at Weekend a la Carte for organising it so perfectly. We were very impressed.”

“When we arrived at the Hotel Una in Milan we were thrilled that it was so central and the welcome we were given was very friendly. Unfortunately the two things that I had specifically asked for, namely twin beds and a bath in the bath room, were missing. They managed to rig up an extra single bed in our room which was fine, but we had to settle for no bath which is always a disappointment to me when I have ordered one. We had also been told that breakfast was not included and, in fact, it turned out that it was included - something that we did not want. However, our room was comfortable and well air conditioned and we had a very enjoyable stay in Milan.”

We did definitely book a twin bed room with a bath as per your requirements - I have checked with our supplier today and gone through our correspondence and all was verified by the hotel, so my apologies for them not doing this. “Organisation of private transfers excellent - drivers prompt and courteous. Hotel Salo du Parc - excellent standards across the board, staff helpful and friendly, great location. Recommend. Hotel Firenze - functional and comfortable, staff helpful and friendly, convenient location.Tickets for opera waiting at reception as arranged. Nb can rain quite suddenly ( blazing sunshine until hour before start of opera - start delayed by one and half hours. Plenty of people selling 'macs' if not come prepared. Return flight via Monarch awful - flight delayed, no information why. Then over course of three hours told three different departure times - none of which correct ( causing problem for keeping informed people who were collecting us from the airport ). Eventually took off one and half hours late - no explanation and no apology at any time before, during or after flight. Shame it was a frustrating and tiring end to what had been until then an enjoyable holiday. Will avoid Monarch in future.”
