“As a Desert Storm Combat Veteran, after trying to fight the VA on my own for nearly 15 years, and having my initially (in 2000) granted 20% of Service Connected Disability first reduced and then completely taken away (in 2008), I had given up.

“I had contacted this attorney several years ago to represent me on appeal. The did good on this. Hence the three stars. If you use attorney make sure the contract is specific about issue and time. I had claims pending that they did nothing on but took 20 percent. I filed claims no assistance from them they took 20 percent. I filed supplemental claims no help took 20 percent. Lastly I added my dependants no help from them they took 20 percent. Said that because they got me to 30 percent they were entitled to it. I got myself to 30 percent. They may fight for you. But they cost me thousands of unearned money. Use a vso or other free service. Learn from my mistake”

“I first used the DAV as my representative. Ten percent each for Hearing, Tinnitus, and some 'Jungle Rot' on my feet (30% total)- Then it seemed that they forgot about me. My knees were my most concerning issue, from an injury while I was in the Marines. I wrote my own NOD's (Notice of Disagreement's) and kept my claim alive for years. On my own I got to 70%. Stuck at that rate after 15 years, it was quite obvious that I didn't have the Knowledge, Skill, and Ability to move my disability rating any higher - even with my Back and Hips added on as secondary claims. After signing on with Jan Dils, in short order my rate went to 80%, then 90%, then at 100%. Early on Jan Dils reopened a TDIU claim. Apparently they chased down some details that resulted in that claim being approved just weeks ago and backdated to 2006. The entire staff stays on top of your claim, and any time I had a question they got back to me no later than the next day. If everything involved with the VA moved as fast as the staff at Jan Dils does, there probably wouldn't be any backlogs at the VA.”
“I contacted the firm regarding a Veterans Claim matter. When I received the new client package, via regular, United States Postal Service mail, it contained my complete date of birth, my complete social security number, and address. Everything needed to construct an identity theft. On December 18, 2023, I contacted the firm :304.428.8900, to complain. After being placed on hold for 20 min, I terminated the call. Shortly thereafter, I received a return call from "Beth," who identified herself as a case manager. After I explained my displeasure with having my contact information exposed. The summation of her word salad . . . "it is not illegal," so we can do it. I protested, asking why that information could not be redacted, she responded with, not including the information was impossible, because I gave them my information.”

“Ihad Jan Dills lawyer firm as my attorney and let me tell you if you want a lawyer that does not work. Then this is the lawyer for you. I had at least three different people who started the case and passed it off on someone else's. I had to do all the work. They only contacted me twice before the hearing and once after. You could never get it contact with anyone over the phone. I knew the result of the hearing before the lawyer. I contacted them by email to notify them of the results and still have not been contacted back. So if you want terrible representation this is definitely the law firm to have.
