About Leonard Buildings & Truck Accessories:

Established in the Blue Ridge foothills of North Carolina in 1963, Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories is a privately owned retailer, manufacturer and distributor whose product lines include storage buildings, cargo and utility trailers, truck covers and accessories, carports, playhouses, pet and animal structures, gazebos, and outdoor furniture. We serve our residential, commercial and government customers through our 59 factory outlet stores in the five-state region of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee.

Seventy percent of our business last year resulted from repeat customers and referrals mostly of which were from family member to family member. We hear a lot of this: "I am here because when I was growing up my grandfather had a Leonard building in his backyard . . ." We take pride in serving and taking care of folks as if they were our family.

Over the years, our company's focus on quality, craftsmanship and customer service has allowed each of our company-owned stores to be integrated partners in their local communities. We encourage employees to look for ways to make a difference around town and to help out worthy causes.

I bought a Leer XR100 truck cap for my 2015 Ford F150 from the location in Winchester. They are very nice and professional. Extremely pleased with the truck cap and they did and excellent job on the install. I highly recommend them for any of their products. Very nice folks there!

I bought a two wheel tag trailer to allow me to pull my car behind my RV. The friendly and very knowledgeable staff were very helpful. After the purchase the selected trailer was brought out and hooked up to my pick-up truck. It was fully tested for lights operation and fit. I could not have been happier (unless it had been free) when I left. I have since used it and it tracked as smooth as if it were part of the RV. Very satisfied with service and product.

Shed appears to be good quality. They stood by a couple of repairs that needed to be done. The installer was excellent. However, their was a lack of coordination between Leonard's and the delivery service. They did work with me and we made it work in an acceptable matter, but it was questionable for a bit. The biggest complaint I have is the shed was a foot smaller on one side and six inches smaller on the other. At first, they claimed it was immaterial and were not willing to prorate it. A month later when they realized I stilled owned the the last 25 percent payment, they were a little more willing to prorate it in order to get their final payment. I might would use them again, but next time I will be much more likely to shop around first.

On December 31st 2018 my company purchased a 16ft 2019 Arising enclosed trailer (Model # 716VTRB) After 2 days, my vehicle fuses began to blow when the trailer lights were hooked up. I brought the trailer back to Leonard and Roger began to trouble shoot the issue. He found an uninsulated wire had been left loose when the manufacterer wired the brake lights and it was intermittently shorting out. A few days later I was performing a brake gain test and noticed the brakes were not fully engaging when gain was set to 10…even with an empty trailer. Brought the trailer back to Leonard and he began troubleshooting. He found the brake wire on one side was never connected at factory. He then connected the wire and the problem was corrected. Less than a month later when the outside temp finally broke 60 degrees I noticed the panels on the side of the trailer facing the sun would buckle. Not just waves….they were extremely buckled and looked horrible. It has continued to do this ever since. Around the same time I noticed rust stains on some of the exterior paneling around the screws. Upon inspection I found during manufacturing somebody had left the heads of their broken bits in the heads of the screws. This was the case for about 5 screws. Overall i feel this company performs sloppy work and lacks basic quality and safety checks. I would not reccomend these products to anyone nor will I be making any future purchases.

Good but... Gate safety pins should be PTO shaft locking pins commonly used on trailer hitches to keep them closed. The pins provided are short and thin and can pop out over big bumps. Also the manufacturing of the gate latches could be better. The latch springs should be tighter and the gap between the latch bottom and catch top should be smaller, perhaps 1/8 inch max not 1/4. The latch itself is not that long so any movement of the latch upward will allow it to open with the gap as big as it is and the springs as soft as they are. I know because somehow when I arrived on one trip only one safety pin was holding the gate up. Small improvements would go a long way in this area. I replaced the safety pins with locking pins. $9.99 on amazon - PTO Shaft Locking Pin 3/8" x 2-1/4" ( PACK of 3)

I would purchase my shed elsewhere if I could do it over. I always thought Leonard built a quality product, but I have definitely changed my mind. I first ordered a 10x16 shed in early November 2018. Leonard tried to deliver the first shed in early January, but the skid came off as the driver was unloading. I had to wait 3 weeks to find out the skid couldn't be fixed and a new shed would have to be built. After being told by the corporate office that our order would be given priority, we still waited another 2 months to finally receive our shed, putting us at a total of about 5 months to get our shed. We could have built a better one in that time frame for half the cost and ended up with better quality. Our delivery driver was very professional and did a great job setting up, but that's where my praise of this company stops. A few days later, our ramp was delivered while we were not home and was set up completely crooked. The local Leonard dealer had to send a second person out to fix it. Our final complaint still hasn't been addressed and no one from either the local Leonard dealer or corporate has returned my husband's calls. The roof of our shed was poorly put together and we can see through, small holes from inside, where nails were put through the shingles that didn't overlap the plywood underneath. We've been waiting for this issue to be addressed for over a month and haven't heard from anyone, but that's been the case since I ordered the shed in November. If I want info, I have to call Leonard. No one calls us. Customer service and quality of workmanship could use a lot of improvement.

It seems the people that manage this location do not understand the importance of timeliness and keeping to schedule. It took them a month to get us our building when they said it would be two weeks. Then it took them 2 months to get us the ramp which was poorly made. When we called they had forgot that we had paid for one. I paid cash for all of this on the same day. These people are making Leonard look really bad, and I won't ever recommend them. I mean you should see the ramp they gave me!! It looks like a 7 yr old built it. I wonder what would have happened if I was making payments; probably way worse.
