“The system that mpb has for trading up is amazing. The customer service (when I was upgrading a camera ago, was so helpful, and put my mind at ease sending my gear to trade. Then, the camera I received (both times, I've traded up twice but the above was my first time) was exactly as the description said. And the no fee to send my camera(s) in was a big plus! Thanks again to all the folks at mob.com for their help!”
“I always love browsing the site and on many occasions have swapped gear or added to my collection. They're always fantastic to deal with, helpful and honest. Such a pleasure!”
“I was very pleased with the two transactions I had so far! Very competitive with pricing actually they were higher than anybody else I checked with and they were right on the money when I sent it in! They reviewed my gear fairly quickly and send it out same day they reviewed it!”
“I was happy to be able to trade in my gear and get a camera that I thought would help with my photography progression. So glad that they had the camera I wanted and I guess at a reasonable price. I still think that they could give me more for my trade in though. I don't know how much they offset their shipping by the prices they set for their gear though.”
“I love the idea of trading in old cameras for new or used ones. The camera I purchased is great! I love it. However, I wanted the camera for a trip to Hawaii and it took way longer to receive it than I expected. When we send in our old equipment, we should be able to choose expedited shipping to mpb and there is no option for that. I would have paid for that.
In addition, even though MPB had all of my tracking info and transaction info, I received several emails from them asking if I had decided to trade in. I even received these emails after I confirmed that MPB received my old camera. It made me nervous that my trade in items were lost.”
“I used to leave positive reviews for MPB because my past experiences were good. But something clearly isn’t right anymore.
My latest purchase was a tripod in a shameful condition => completely unusable. It took about 30 seconds to realise it belonged in the bin.
This is not about expecting a gear out of the box. It’s about basic quality control for an article sold as good. Any minimal inspection should have caught this immediately.
To be fair, the support team remains responsive and understanding. But there is clearly a serious issue somewhere in the equipment verification chain.
Items in this condition simply should never be listed for sale.
At this point, the myth of the impeccably run German operation has unfortunately started to fade.
________________
I genuinely believed the situation had been resolved after my exchange with customer service. They acknowledged the issue and promised compensation.
Unfortunately, they later stepped back from their own commitment without explanation.
This clearly shows that their below response was simply E-reputation management rather than a genuine resolution.
Duly noted. Customers should not rely on such commitments.”
“Good communication, fair deal for a lens I was not using. Good shipping and return communications on used lens ordered. My second time using MPB, good service.”
“Fair, if a little high, pricing for used equipment but the equipment arrived in excellent, as new, condition. I would definitely deal with MPB again.”
