“Beware! Dishonest company! They lie about the camera's shutter count on the cameras they sell hoping you wouldn't check it after receiving it. My partner and I ordered two different cameras on two separate accounts with MPB and both were completely different shutter counts much higher than what we both ordered. The camera I ordered was listed at 15,929 actuations and they sent me a camera with 73,436 actuations. My partners camera was supposed to be 13,493 actuations and they sent a camera with 34,193 actuations.
We also both used a refer-a-friend coupon for each of the orders and they said they couldn't re-issue it, even though it was an issue on their end! We returned them both and they didn't even apologize for the inconvenience or offer any restitutions. Has been nothing but a headache dealing with MPB! Shop somewhere else.”
“Want to return an item? Yeah will take you over a week.
I was sent an “excellent” 24mm canon ef lens and the focusing is soft so I want to return it but their customer service is shocking.”
“Bought a lens from MPB a few days ago. The lens was at a really good price so I bit into it. The condition of the lens is "Excellent" -- no signs of any damages, whatsoever. Upon receiving the lens, it appears that the focus motor doesn't work. So I thought maybe a simple update would fix it. Updated it and doesn't work. Called customer service and now they're telling me that the lens has issues with the focus motor and it WAS NOT noted anywhere in the listing. This is my first time purchasing from them too and now has given me a bad first impression. I was willing to give them a chance till I found out that they're not able to refund me the shipping cost I paid for to get expedited shipping.”
“If you buy a used GoPro, know that they don't test if it's waterproof. I bought one in "Like New" condition, which would lead me to assume it is waterproof as the camera should be. It broke the first time I put it in water. After much communication with MPB, they let me know they have "no facilities to test in water." I guess they don't have a bathroom at their location. Water damage isn't covered in their free 6 month warranty so I paid $284 for nothing and lost all photos on a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Deceptive communication and the woman who communicated with me was not nice. I would never buy from this company again.”
“MPB promised 1566 euros for my equipment but paid 1385.
They have stolen 181 euros.
They call themselves trained professionals but don't really understand anything about the photo equipment.
Their conditions and rules are made only to protect themselves in case of disputes.
NEVER do business with them!”
“I sent several pieces of equipment, very carefully assessing their condition. I trusted their expert judgment, but a couple of hours later I realized that I had made a mistake with it. They downgraded my Panasonic Leica 12-60mm from Excellent to Good.
Without any additional comments in adjusted quote!!
They claim that the rating like Excellent or Good only reflects the cosmetic appearance.
It took a lot of effort to get any info from them. As mentioned in the last explanation: "adjusted down to "Good" owing to some internal marks within the optics of the lens" Very detailed explanation!! The day before in the chat they claimed that "scratches on external elements". Two conflicting assessments!
They took 72 euros off the price of my Nikon 180mm lens. In adjusted quote was stated that "moderate fungus". Today's information was already a little different: "-€72 adjustment for minor fungus" Bravo!! The fungus has already decreased during the holidays! If things are going like this, it will disappear completely, you just have to wait a little.
In this case, with the Nikon 180mm, they did not lower the rating - very confusing!
I bought this Nikon 180mm lens 4 months ago on eBay from reputable photo equipment seller from Japan in Mint condition without fungus.
I doubt that a "moderate fungus" has developed in the meantime.
They downgraded my Olympus 45mm lens from Like New to Excellent and no additional comments in the adjusted quote on Friday. Today I received information that: "adjusted down to "Excellent" owing to light dust and moisture within the optics". It should be noted that I owned this lens for 4 years and only used it in warm and dry weather, the rest of the time it was in a warm and dry room at home. Where does the moisture come from? In my 30 years of experience with lenses, I have had no problems with any moisture because I know how to use lenses.
Total inconsistency in rating lenses. First one judgment, now another explanation.
These are very convenient ratings - "minor fungus", "minor moisture", "minor dust" - they can be used in almost any situation with lenses.
I just lost faith in this company. It looks like they work very sloppily or just think only about their own benefit.
I admit that it was my mistake to trust their "trained specialist" judgment.
They insist that the transaction has taken place and that it is irreversible.
Be careful with your choice when doing business with MPB, think twice so you don't regret it later. They are not customer friendly. Apparently, their magic business is based on this, - to create trust in "some trained specialists" who evaluate the things. And to abuse people's desire to get money fast.
Unreliable service.”
“Seen all the ads for this company and I figured I would try them out as I had some Nikon F mount lenses and a DSLR sitting since upgrading to the Z Mount mirrorless system. Put all the the equipment I was parting with into their quote system and received an acceptable price for the stuff. I spent a small fortune on packaging as some reviews mentioned gear being broke upon arrival. After about a week and a half including I received an email regarding a change on the quote. PRICE was less than half of what was originally quoted. They are just like KEH and did a bait and switch. I decided to cancel the trade in and get my gear back. Would not recommend dealing with this company and will be updating on time it take along with condition of returned gear. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!!!”
“Be very careful ordering from here customer service is horrible and if you have an issue with a shipment you will not be able to get in touch with anyone all they have is AI bots and template emails there is no human connection or care about providing you service there are too many other vendors that do an awesom job such B&H photo and Adoroma”
“I placed an order it didn’t go through they freaking kept billing me over and over and made charges of over 1,000 each until they depleted my credit line and all I could do was file a ticket. Meanwhile it says no order was placed! Scammers!!’”
“When purchasing a camera they misrepresented their listing of an excellent because the camera was missing front screw, I would be careful they seem to wiggle out of their responsibility on this one case instead of standing by their description of what excellent means.”
“I just have an answers today after 3 weeks because I send a Formal Notice. They answers that they already resent me the material WITHOUT telling me nothing but was return ( of corse I’m in a trip outside of Europe and open a company ! ) .
And NOW you don’t want back my material ??!!! because the adress even I have my new rent contract AND don’t want pay you because for you a transfer isn’t proof. It’s a big scam and for sure I will be compelled to file formal complaints with the prosecutors in Berlin and Paris and let know everyone about this big scam. This is theft. Accepting the sale before waiting to receive the equipment. Refusing a proof of transfer as justification (I am currently in traveling and have nothing else, but imagine if it were a second-hand product??) to then tell me it’s not a valid proof, and since I’m not in the same location anymore, even with a rental contract, they can’t send me the equipment? Seriously? Why not ask for these documents beforehand? Why don’t ask this document BEFORE to send the material ??? This is theft!!! I won’t leave it at that, and I will make sure everyone knows.”
“I tried to buy and/or trade for a used Leica m10 Monochrom. Around a $6000 camera. The first time I noticed there were many spots and dust on my images from a filthy sensor. The camera was sold as new. After some back and forth with MPB ,they assured me the sensor was cleaned. Now the camera in question has a dust detection function on the menu, so MPB has no excuse to sell this as new.
I needed the camera for a trip so was stuck. MPB said “there is nothing we ca do, and I could return the camera.” I couldn’t return the camera bc it was necessary for my trip.
Weeks later MPB has done nothing to resolve the problem.”
“Bait and switch lately. Before had no problems with them. Lately they do as KEH did: fungus or moisture inside the lens story to deduct the $. I should request a video and pics of my lens with serial number. But wanted no hustle and delays.”
“I made a Trade-in transaction through the MPB website, during which I sent my Sony 35mm 1.8 lens. In return, I received a Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 L USM lens from the company.
My Sony lens was rated by the site as being in Excellent condition and valued at €225. Although this is much lower than the average market price I found online, I accepted it because the trade-in lens was of sufficient value to me, even with an additional payment of €189, which I made.
The Canon lens from MPB was rated as Heavily Used by the company. The description indicated that this rating only referred to external features and did not affect the lens's functionality. Unfortunately, the lens glass was damaged upon receipt.
The Canon lens I received has significant moisture and haze in its optics, a defect not disclosed in the advertisement.
I filed a complaint with MPB to cancel the transaction due to their error. I requested to return the damaged Canon lens and get back my Sony lens along with the additional €189 payment I made.
MPB refused to return my Sony lens, claiming the trade-in procedure consists of two separate transactions: selling my lens to them and buying a lens from their website. They offered me a refund of €414 (the valuation of my Sony lens plus the €189 I paid) if I cancel the deal.
The trade-in of this company is a scam, and nowhere in its process is it stated that it is impossible to return your gear in case of problems with the one they provide on their part. Even though you lose money, they will earn it by reselling your equipment.”
“Awful
Awful - Do NOT use. Sent them two items and they evaded every question about confirming the contents as I had sent two items. They would NOT tell me what they received. They would NOT give me a telephone number, would not put me through to anyone who could tell me what they have received. Ella the customer service stated they had received both after 20 mins or arguing and then said no they haven't and may take 2-3 days to check what they have received.
The most scammy company i have ever dealt with.
Will be taking this to court with the print out of the conversation recorded and full claim and costs.
Do NOT use these and be scammed like i have.
I have the DPD delivery stating they have sent/received and have photographic evidence. MBP do not want to even state what they have got for 2-3 days! wow... just wow... be WARNED.”
“Raised a quote with MPB for 3 items that being Nikon Z7ii, Nikon 20mm F1.8 and a Nikon 24-70. Offer received was low but acceptable. Packaged and sent my stuff to them but then realised I did not include the tx ref number they provide on the box and called them. Advisor said he did not have the original quote and apologised and said he would re-quote and confirmed the equipment had arrived with them safely.
Then I receive an email with the re-raised quote which they sneakily requited £500 less than the original quote. I called them back immediately and was told they would raise it with the purchase sales team.....Today I get an offer and they knocked even more off so now I'm close to £600 less. Camera has 6000 actuations so you can imagine this camera is pristine the 20mm lens £1000 in the shops is also pristine having been used sparingly. and the other lens received a fare offers.
My advice is, they where a great company offering fare money for your equipment but now they are operating in an unprofessional manner, steer clear until they sort themselves out and if not give them a massive miss.”
“I had two negative experiences purchasing with MPB. They did not honor their return policy and I have had multiple issues with their items not matching the description or the photos on the original listing. What makes this even more complicated is that they at no point provide a serial number, they only provide a SKU number. They also do not send items with a packing list and never put the product serial number on the receipt after payment is processed. This led to a denial of a return that is baseless since I had nothing to verify if they actually sent the correct item.
I have had two instances of mismatch items not fitting the original listing. The first was a canon camera lens, which had far more damage than the listing claimed…The condition was blatantly incorrect and the photos did not match. I purchased a camera from them a few years ago and had a very positive experience… These last two purchases occurred within 30 days and I am disgusted by this company.
I informed them of the concerns with the camera body the very next morning after I received it. The return was approved, the item was shipped back that afternoon… Three days after they receive it, they claim the serial number does not match their SKU number… but I never received a serial number, that was never discussed with the MPB representative and they are attempting to force me into keeping an item that was returned well within their 14-day return period. Within 24 hours…
This is not the only report of MPB sending incorrect items or not putting an appropriate condition of the items they are selling. There is also a lack of transparency with these “serial number mismatches” that are identifiers not being disclosed to the customers who ultimately purchase the item. Only to then be a deceptive reason to deny a return claim. I had the camera in my possession for less than 12 hours and was forthright and honest with the MPB customer service team. I sent it back and informed them of my concerns immediately.
I fortunately took photos of the camera and the item packaged at the FedEx location to confirm timestamps… I have now resorted to filing a dispute with my bank… please steer clear of purchasing used gear from this company or at the very least practice extreme caution… I have no more trust for this company and am still in the process of disputing.”
