Hi Dave, It seems that you ordered modern style military tags without a notch. We do indeed carry WWII/Korea/Vietnam war era dogtags with a notch and deboss text, however you need to specifically choose that style of tag or use an appropriate template https://www.mydogtag.com/dogtag-timeline.php Please email us and we can help you find the correct tag and format.

“Lost my original tags after I retired. Join the USN in '64, and went to Nam in Jan '68. Wanted to give them to my daughter. These are as I remember from that era.”

Hi Robert, Thanks for your review. Both our modern emboss and vintage deboss letters meet the size specifications for the military. Nevertheless, we do indeed offer a non mil-spec larger emboss font which is easier to read for those with sight impairments.
