Hi Tommy, Thank you for your review. Our reproduction notched dog tags are made to the same thickness as current military specifications which calls for .014" thickness. Tags from WW2/Korea were manufactured thicker and these tag stocks would be used until they ran out even though the specifications had changed over the years. We are always looking for ways to improve our products to better serve veterans and their families and sourcing thicker tag stock for older veterans is on our list. Thank you for your military service.

“Dog tags look great. My originals have my SSN on them so like that I can just use the last 4 on these replacements. Hanging from the rear view mirror of car. Will also order for my three veteran bothers as a gift. They look like the originals!”

“I lost my original dog tags when I was in the Air Force. The difference is the font and size of the printed information. Unless the dog tags have changed over the years this is a cheap reproduction of the original.”

Hi David, Thank you for your review. It sounds like our debossed font is a better match to your original tags than the embossed tags your ordered. Embossing has been the military standard for years however many bases will continue to use their existing machines and issue debossed tags. “Out of the box I could tell the material was inferior to military issue. So if your looking for active duty inspection passable tags these are not it ONE TAG IS STARTING TO RUST I CANT BELIEVE I PAID MONEY FOR THESE FONT : not the same font used for standard ISsue tags . Also not the same font as pictured in proofs. EMBOSSING : They arrived reversed like pillow embossed instead of USMC standards SILENCERS Barely wrap around edges so the constantly unwrap themselves . Hardly silencing dog tags so you will be at risk in combat scenarios where your stealth will cost you your life. CHAIN: way cheap chain. Had no real weight to it so I assume it’s crappy MATERIAL : oh my god people this stuff is thin and has no weight to it. If I were you I would save your money and head out to the surplus store and have the real stuff made there. I’m thoroughly disappointed . I was looking for a set to replace marine corps standard tags.”

Hi Jeremy, thank you for the review. Our tags are made in the US to military specifications out of stainless steel. Military tags have been 'thin' (.014") for many years. We do sell a high carbon tag that will rust (on purpose). If we sent you the wrong tags we will replace them for you. Embossed font, which you chose, has been the military standard for many years. Some bases continue to use their older machines to deboss. We provide many options for our customers to get their replacement tags made like their original issue. Our chains are supplied by the same US manufacturer that supplies the military. Standard silicone silencers are easy to put on and they also do slip off. We offer a more rigid PVC silencer that is harder to put on and stays on. Please email us at support@mydogtag.com so we can help you customize a set of tags that meets your expectations.
