“The food and recipes are always amazing! Unfortunately quite often we have ingredients missing from our food bag which is starting to get very frustrating. The staff kindly compensate us for the missed ingredients when we notify them of this which is great, but it doesn't really help at the time as you still need to go out and get what was missing.”

“My Food Bag is good most of the time. The great things are that it saves me going to different places to get good quality ingredients and keeps weekly meals interesting. It also means teenagers in the family don't have an excuse not to make dinner once or twice a week! We get the lite 20 which suits all the family as the boys can have an extra potato or a roll to fill them up - I find it versatile and suits everyone. Sometimes though the meals can be a little lacking in flavour and lately some of the vegetables have not been very fresh. The protein is generally good, but the beef can be tough and sometimes there isn't much fish - and would like salmon more! Often the garlic and ginger can be a bit rotten, and I have had rotten or slightly mouldy items too, eg like herbs, cauliflower, mung beans.”

It's a fantastic option that I'm happy to hear your family has been getting involved with. I'm really sorry to hear that the quality of the produce you've had with some of your vegetables, we'll go back to our suppliers make sure that it meets both yours and our expectations in future. We're recently been reducing our plastic use and have found that for some items, not having plastic wrapping can effect the life-span of the products so we're continuing to work to keep items fresh and reduce our plastic options. Salmon is delicious! I hear you - it's always nice to have some salmon in your weekly cooking! I'll pass this request onto our Development Kitchen for you. They'll be able to review how to incorporate into a under 450 calorie meal in the Fresh Start plans. “We have loved receiving My Food Bag over the past year - it has really changed our lives. We are busy, working people and we do love good food so this has been a wonderful opportunity for us to try new (and simple) recipes without having to think what we are having each night. “We buy Fresh Start 20 every week and it has been a lifesaver. My husband and I are both very busy with work, three children and Scout activities. However, we want to cook and eat healthy lunches and dinners and Fresh Start 20 works very well for this. We cook, have dinner - offer it to the children but have back up options in case they are fussy (tuna spaghetti, rice, toasted sandwiches etc), then have the leftovers for our lunch at work. Surprisingly, the kids (aged 3, 8 and 13) do try quite a few of the meals - even though the meals are vege and healthy foods heavy, and low carb (which we love!). This means that my children a trying a much greater variety of foods than we had before with our standard 'family friendly' meals. Although the cost seemed high at first, I did a comparison with Countdown's online shopping for the same ingredients and it wasn't much less to buy them ourselves. Personally, I HATE supermarket shopping, so having all the thought around meals planning and shopping taken care of is worth several hours of my time that I can now spend on other things. Plus, I think we save a bit by not buying all the unplanned for items (chocolate biscuits etc!) that seem to sneak in to the supermarket trolley. Finally, I find Fresh Start meals time guide to be very accurate - most meals take about 30 minutes (less when I have my 13-year-old help me - and he is learning to cook through the process) - which is less than it would take to order an pick up takeaways. Some changes I would like is at least one vegetarian meal per week and even more work on reducing plastic containers - but overall I am very happy with this service and would recommend it to anyone with a similar number of people in their family.”

“After being somewhat skeptical I decided to give My Food Bag a go, and registered for the Fresh Start programme. I have had no regrets. The food is tasty and there is heaps of variety. I am also satisfied with portion sizes etc. I opened my mind to a much wide range of fruits and vegetables than I have ever tried before and loved it. Even changed my husband's thinking on some things. I feel great and am told I am looking great (who wouldn't love that) and I have lost 12 kg in the process, without really trying. Not having to think about what we are going to eat on a daily basis is awesome. And we havnt had a takeaway, nor missed them, in the 8 or so months we have been doing this. I am a convert!”
