I’d like to thank Rachel Morgan(Director of Operations & Member Experience) for helping our organization "Pittsburgh Bassists" in assisting us with gifting courses we bought and gifted to our members at our annual "Pittsburgh Bass Day" celebration. Our raffle winners told me they were really thoughtful gifts and will be looking to Open Studio Jazz for more courses. Thank you Racheal Gordon Gary

I love the Thelonious Monk lessons I purchased ,it’s so obvious that much effort has been put into each minute of the lesson, there’s no extraneous fluff , just pure info ! The living notation is a lot of help too! I am not ready to purchase a membership yet as I have to save up for a little while but if your other lessons are like the Monk the price and wait will definitely be worth it .

My main complaint is that Peter plays way too much in the videos. It really gets annoying after awhile. Adam is much more restrained. Hearing Peter play some really fast bebop is just not productive.

Open studio is the best online education platform that I have experienced. Living in a rural area, I do not have access to a lot of interpersonal instruction to further my jazz education. Being involved in this format has increased, my knowledge, exponentially, filling in the blanks in areas of misunderstanding that ordering books and attempting to study them by myself, could not provide. I am 68 years old, I am still expanding my knowledge. Thanks to open studio.

I am a student in South Korea. I have experience studying classical music for a long time when I was young. I have always had doubts about whether I can really learn jazz piano online. I've taken a few offline lessons, but due to my job and expenses, I had no choice but to opt for online classes. However, I felt that the lessons at Open Studio were more valuable than those of offline teachers. So far, I have only taken the jump-start class, but I felt that the content of Open Studio's lessons was focused on the essence of jazz. I was surprised by how they started from intervals and taught how to listen to music as a player. Many offline teachers instruct students to play the keyboard with the correct finger and memorize scales and chords. Of course, this method has its merits, but I really enjoyed Open Studio's lessons, which encouraged me to think, imagine, and experiment with small ideas and concepts. In the future, I plan to slowly learn jazz through Open Studio, and if I ever feel a clear limitation in self-study, I plan to take offline lessons on an ad-hoc basis. I hope that all the classes I take in the future will reflect the efforts and considerations of the Open Studio team, just like the jump-start class. If I have one wish, it would be that backing tracks for the etudes are available in all 12 keys! And also It would be awesome if the "Introduction to the Piano Pathway" is availabe to non members. (I was noticed about this content through openstudio team with email)

I like the course a lot, however it’s a little intimidating that’s it’s labeled for beginners (genius chord warmup) because I’m not a beginner, but I’ve been struggling a lot with this warmup (still haven’t got past the introduction). There a lot of info right from the start that isn’t explained like “drop 2”? I think having a recommended starting point or prerequisite courses may help.

I joined and left twice, those were on a monthly subscription and finally, I signed up for the annual membership. Initially, I found the courses a bit dry as I still like to play songs. After playing for a while I noticed I needed to build my basics on chords and scale which I think is essential in Jazz piano and Open Studio has strong training in this area.

Newbie - only there for a week, but working with Adam Maness makes me aware why my first 6 months starting w jazz after a lifetime of classical piano has been chaotic - I didn't start with the basics! Adam does a phenomenal job of making practicing/learning "the basic chords/scale/harmonies" interesting, engaging, and productive. Looking forward now to Jeremy Siskind's new class. THANKS!

Love you guys, amazing content whether payed for or free. I’d love to have more content of specialized courses like the warmups rather than subscriptions. I’m a classical pianist/teacher/hobby bassplayer who tries to jazz. I don’t have a continuous workflow, im more like targeting my interests and have fun. I am always recommending my students to check your YouTube channel and search for stuff they like. As for something I’d be really happy to see is a course that targets classical players who have the mechanics/technique but developed in another direction. I am teaching in Switzerland, and we have to do additional courses every year to improve our skills. The school pays for it, so I think many teachers would be interested if advertised properly. I don’t know how this translates into paperwork, but if I would have access to open studio pro (even if just a limited amount of live sessions) through the school system it would be a dream came true I’m not working yet full time so the price throws me off a bit even though I find it fairly priced

You have the best teachers. They are patient and encouraging. The lessons are extremely helpful. It is the best source of music lessons for students at any stage of learning.
