Just began the Genius chord series. Enjoying it very much. Using it with the Alfred Adult books. Like the music theory explanations which are included. The section on Tritone subs was very helpful to me.

As a Jazz beginner I had to look up too many terms like secondary dominants, drop 2, drop 3 already in the "standards". The progressions in the video's go too fast for me and if I slow them down they sound horrible especially Adams voice.

Hi Marcus, I'm sorry to see this course wasn't a great fit for you. If you're referring to Genius Chord Warmups, I might recommend a Level 1 course like Jazz Piano Jumpstart or Jazz Chords for Beginners which are both designed for folks to get the basics they need before moving on to Level 2. I'd be happy to exchange this course for you, as we have a 30-day complete satisfaction guarantee. Just let us know at support@openstudiojazz.com.

I really like the "practice along with me" format that allows me to get music under my fingers even when I'm too tired to organize my practice session after work. I like the graded approach as I am very strong in some areas (theory) and weak in others... such that I'm not playing insipid arrangements until my fingers catch up...

Good lessons and there is enough here to find your challenge. I love how they use actual jazz standards rather than “sounds like xxx” songs. In doing so practice builds your body of playable material.

I have some of the lesson packs (Blues, bebop, ballads etc.) They are fantastic. The idea of combining lessons from musicians playing different instruments and contributing different insights and complementing each other works very well. Special mention to Sean Jones, Diane Reeves and Christian McBride whom I have found particularly inspiring. The piano stuff is also very useful (since I'm a pianist). I feel I have still months of practice exploring these ideas. Thank you !

I have been taking jazz piano for years. I came across Open Studio on YouTube and saw that it was different than other groups I had joined previously. I'm not a beginner, so I appreciate that I could explore the different levels. Having the instructors explain things in different ways than I'm used to helped me understand the concepts on different levels. I love the guided practice sessions because they keep me focused on skills I need to work on but might otherwise skip over. The instructors are very skilled musicians too.

Excellent! The information on this course is well presented and highly useful. It Is not ‘paint by numbers’ like some other courses I have seen advertised, but highly musical. It will, of course, require much play time at the piano.

I think fingering suggestions on some of your lesson pdf's would be helpful. other than that, the material is great. I hope to join Pro after I have built my skills to a higher level.
