This course is outstanding. Every single etude adds hugely to your confidence and range when improvising and soloing. All brilliantly explained and presented.

I am a classical musician and teacher and got a year subscription to openstudio to learn new stuff. I have been browsing some lessons and I am very impressed by the quality of the content and the production. This is going to be a great ressource for me. Great job

Open Studio provides an ideal class for beginners to approach jazz easily and learn step by step. What I particularly like is that it helps address potential challenges during practice, offering guidance and fostering the ability to solve problems along the way. Practicing here is incredibly enjoyable.

Harmony Games is the best practice guide material Open Studio has produced so far.

I am 65. Did a lot of music in my live but not for the last 30 years. Now I inherited a grand piano. "Jazz cords for beginners" is of great help. I am working through all the cords in all scales. I think that will give some base for more :-)

The content is great. AND IT IS FUN AND EFFICIENT TO BE TAUGHT BY YOU ALL. I've bought the harmony games and I'm amazed by all the things I'm learning. Keep up the excellent work.

Always informative, fun to watch. Sometimes I stop the vids & take pic of the lick in the shorts so I can try to replicate it on my 6 string bass.

I've downloaded two courses- the jazz etudes and the genius chords warm-ups. Mixed results so far. Both courses have some useful stuff- but boy are they time-consuming! I'd have liked some simpler starting points and a bit more consideration for those of us with limited practice time. It's a big ask to do drills in all keys, at speed, without a major investment in time. As a Brit, I also find the tutors a bit big-headed and showy. Perhaps it's a cultural thing, with us being more understated. But I don't like being told about how "amazing" etc stuff is all the time- I'll be the judge of that, thank you! I'll keep going with the exercises, but I have to say I've found other sources more useful. Especially those that run a bit slower and, for example, get me fluent in 4-5 keys rather than trying to cover every key going. You might disagree, but for many of us it is about being a functional and improving musician, not being "genius" or "boss level" or whatever.

Hi Dominic! Thanks so much for sharing this feedback. The beauty of lifetime course access is that you can tackle as many keys as you'd like, and come back to tackle more later! But we completely understand your point about the challenge of these two courses, as they're both around Level 2 in our curriculum. For a simpler starting point, I recommend our Level 1 courses, like Jazz Piano Jumpstart, the Improv Games, and Jazz Chords for Beginners. https://www.openstudiojazz.com/piano Please let us know if you'd like to give a Level 1 course a try and exchange your courses for any of these. We're here to help! Happy practicing.

Open studio is a phenomenal platform. I signed up for an upright bass course (even though I don’t own an upright bass and play electric 5 string.) Ran into some health issues recently that interrupted progress though, but can’t wait to get back to it. The information available is quite amazing and affordable (even for old retired people!) and worth it for just watching snd listening to these virtuoso musicians play so effortlessly. Only downside is the double-edge-sword effect of occasionally feeling discouraged by not being blessed with certain abilities, but that generally passes soon enough :) They have even added the ultra-incredible talent of Emmet Cohen, as if the genius of Adam and Peter Christian McBride and Bob DeBoo etc. wasn’t enough!

Good classes and presentations (live on YouTube sessions with pros). I’ve had to skim a bit through classes to find good starting point for myself. Yet along the way, I’ve learned concepts I didn’t know, such as finger placement for more fluidity in soloing.

I think you all are blessed with the teacher's gift. Even when I'm just having a rough day and there's no hint of wanting to learn music, a little short from Open Studio can reopen my heart in an instant. Thanks, y'all
