I was hoping for something more jazz oriented. But this seems to focus on people who have never touched a piano. Names of keys, how to buy a keyboard, ect...

Hey Robert, We're sorry to see that you're not completely happy with the Jazz Piano Jumpstart. It may be too easy for you, as it's our novice piano course. We have several other piano courses available, perhaps Jazz Piano for Beginners or the Elements of Jazz Piano (intermediate) might be a better fit. If you'd be interested in switching to a different course, we'd be happy to refund you, and send you some links to sample lessons of whichever course you'd like to try. Let us know! Thanks so much for your feedback. Best, Rachel Morgan Operations Coordinator, Open Studio

I'm really impressed with what you are offering. I wish this had been available when I was a younger. Still, I like to think I'm still fairly young ;-) so I'll be with you for quite a while yet and look forward to becoming the best musician I can be with your help. Keep up the fantastic work. Damien.

Hi, Unlike the another courses I am not very happy with the last course. I am not pianist so I need a few explanations and perhaps some exercices to do. Also I would like english subtitles. Yes, I know this course is cheap but no help me like the another courses did. Best Regards Antonio

Hello Antonio, Thanks for your feedback. Since this pack is curated from Peter Martin's "Jazz Piano Method, which does not currently support English subtitles. We will take your suggestion into consideration though, since we definitely see the value in them. - Open Studio Team

I’m not in a rush!! There are no shortcuts. I’ve been a Professional Musician for 55-years. Sax, Flute, and Clarinet. I’m familiar with the Piano because I am an Arranger (Berklee College of Music) Studied Saxophone, with Buddy Collette. I am enjoying the lesson and I feel I found the right place. Can you tell me about the videos on Extensive Ear Training. I believe you mentioned that when I first signed up Thank you, Nick De Mauro

Open studio has really helped my playing. I've studied and played jazz piano for many years, but Peter has really helped me progress. He has the right combo of excellent musicianship and teaching skills with a good dash of humor thrown in that makes learning fun and effective. Adam Maness is also very steeped in jazz theory and together they are great. I plan to work on their lessons for a long time to come. Gordon Krainen

Hello! I recently joined the "Jazz Jump Start" course and my 5-star rating is based on my experience so far in that particular course. I like the way the theory part is presented jointly by Peter and Adam. And I like very much the structured exercises that Adam presents for each week of the course. I started piano very late in life - in my late 50's (I am now in my mid 70s) and naturally for an adult, I want to learn everything instantly. I appreciate that learning jazz does take time and I take on board Peter and Adam's regular reminders that one needs patience. The structured practice sessions I find extremely useful because of the ability to play along with Adam and imitate. And the structure provides a means for measuring my progress. About one year ago I bought Peter Martin's "Jazz Piano for Beginners". I don't recall that the "Jump Start Jazz" program was available at that time. From the piano experience that I had, I thought that I'd be able to follow the Beginners course. However, I found it very challenging. The content is good, but for me, I would like the same kind of guided practice segments as in the Jump Start course. I felt frustrated at the very start with the PM Blues piece. Peter gives the basic structure and then shows possible variations that one can improvise. I note that the variations have been provided in written form as well. However, I would like to see suggested fingering for the different variations. Having felt frustrated at my lack of progress with the Beginners Course, I was glad to see the Jump Start course and finally feel that I am making some progress.

I'm a multi-instrumentalist (Guitar, Voice, and Piano) Right now I'm working on Piano; Jump Start and Elements of Jazz. Since Piano is my weakest instrument I'm starting there. I like the way the courses are set up. There are tons of online sites to study from; and I've been on lots of them. Open studio resonates with me as one of the best out there. in time I plan to take a few other classes in the future!
