Open Studio is a fantastic organization of gifted, supportive, and knowledgeable teachers, sharing their expertise and enthusiasm for Jazz with a worldwide community of students. I've made many new virtual friends, and always come away from sessions inspired and excited about digging into my playing. Joining OS was one of the best musical decisions I've ever made.

As a dedicated non-musician, who has after 30 years been occasionally mistaken for a professional musician, as someone who has diligently utilized, lots of Internet resources and years of ear training, along with well-known jazz textbooks, for my money, Open Studio offers the most experienced, teachers I feel I’m ready for the pace of the lessons, and the patience that goes along with internalizing the lessons. But I don’t think that was true, until I practiced fairly regularly for a few decades using other materials

The guided practice sessions are everything - for someone like myself with ADD practicing productively has been a challenge my whole life. These sessions feel interactive. It’s so helpful to have someone telling me what to practice and practicing with me

I am an intermediate piano player (by my own estimation). Most of my playing relies on my ear. I have been stuck at a level for some time. The lessons I am taking now with Open Studio are exactly what I needed to advance exponentially.

A relative newcomer to jazz but not to music, I am appreciating Open Studio's commitment to rigorous theory and to having fun while learning it. I could hang out with these guys all day long, listening to their impeccable playing and analysis and banter. Thanks so much!

I think Open Studio is fantastic - the courses and content and instructors are excellent, high quality and inspiring, and the tools/soundslice/transcriptions/website design are so easy to use and access. So happy I found it! I emailed support to report a problem loading a video and they responded very quickly with a work around, and then followed up within a few hours to report the issue had been resolved - very impressive. I've recommended it to friends, and changed my membership to yearly.

Well first of all , thanks for this great website this is awesome stuff. Maybe i couldnt find it yet, but what i especially need is some guided practice sessions to master soloing with rh while comping myself with the left. That would be my input , thanks for reading.

The site seems highly dedicated towards the advanced player and could use some gap filling between the beginner and the more advanced user. Keeping any material like this as musical as possible and not an encyclopedia of chords or scales would be helpful. I could spend a year going through the chord voicings on this site and never play an actual tune. I gravitate towards the musical or in context lessons. Notation with the specific examples is helpful so when you want to back over something you can find it quickly rather than trying to find it in the video. In the guitar department you really need some hollow body courses and not just nylon string since the bulk of jazz is played on a hollow body. That being said I appreciate the incredible care and work that are going into all of your courses. Definitely filling a gap that needs to be filled.

The "Mastering Rhythm" course was so great that I think it deserves a sequel and a three-quel :) There really isn't that much material explicitly on rhythm out there for us "non-drummers." The gems are few and far between. I count "Mastering Rhythm" as one of those pedagogical gems on rhythm. You've got the likes of 13 pro's, including Melissa Aldana and Alexa Tarantino, all giving specific lessons on the art of rhythm and time feel. Once elusive concepts now feel tangible. Looks like you CAN teach rhythm in an intention way! Rhythm is one of the key elements that separates the "amateur sound" from the professional, so buy this course NOW :)

I love the content and the teacher(s). The Piano All Access is a little expensive, which has scared me off from purchasing it. Any lack of progress is on me. the content is excellent.

Once you come here, there really is no need to look further. I PROMISE! I have been studying this music for a long time, and every time I experience "wanderlust" and try something else, I always come back home to Open Studio. Whether you have a personal instructor or coach NOTHING compares to this. Just stop. You have finally found the ONE-STOP SHOP. The price alone does not compare. What you pay here for one month is what you will pay for one lesson for most teachers. Plus all the content here will take you multiple lifetimes to truly acquire. The instructors are WOLRD CLASS!!! Thank you OPEN STUDIO.
