It's a short review alright, too early to say. It's probably a big topic there how to convert new subscribers to active participating students. In my experience you need to paint the picture and get the learner to finish it, to own it. The catch22 is that we need to convince ourselves that sitting down and practicing is desireable and worth doing. And not just on principle but in fact -- practice is fun, even when it isn't! Your several emails since I signed for the 7 wk intro course have touched on several topics. This is good but they also muddy the water by talking about "lifetime entry", other courses, huge discounts, etc. All very distracting for ADHD types like myself who need to be insulated from the flotsam and jetsam of the misinformation age. What might be more conducive to helping the new student step from boat to shore would be a courtesy email welcoming him/her to the PM fold and telling them you have a surprise for them at the end of Lesson 1. And send them that tee 4shirt. Don't get me wrong: your website and emails are well done, too much so. Getting them on first base is when you can pull out all the stoppers but not before, if you know what I mean. First 10 days following a purchase devoted to polishing the focus and building a personal connection. Doesn't need to be one of you two guys. A warm pleasant rep can do the job. Some thoughts.. The lessons are great, I have learned a lot in a short amount of time, and the price is good. Only complaints I have are on the website. The user interface and navigation is cumbersome and could use a overhaul. Having to scroll around and try to find where you left off, searching for the right supporting material, etc. can be frustrating. I would recommend a way to filter out courses you aren't interested in, or sort by what courses are currently active or last visited, with a way to keep track of progress. Podia is a good platform but there are other online training sites that handle progress tracking and lessons more thoughtfully.

I am currently enrolled in the Jazz Piano Jump-Start course. I am so happy with the course and what I am learning. For me this course is filling a void which others assume is so easy to learn but for a beginner it isn't. The in depth explanations and the instructions given are awesome. Intervals are so important and an area which I have struggled with and now it is starting to make perfect sense and how it is so fundamentally important to not only learn intervals but being able to hear them. I am totally enjoying the whole course overall. I am not rushing it and go back and revise. Peter and Adam have done an outstanding job delivering this course and I appreciate the effort and time they have put into it. It is not overwhelming and none of this expectation that you will be playing Ab7 etc. I really relate to the intervals presented in minor sections of music that they have selected. I could go on but I would like to say thanks to Peter and Adam on such a wonderful course which is teaching me a lot as a beginner to Jazz. You can watch the video's and play along, ear training is also included, download the PDF's which are invaluable or even listen in audio format.

I am thankful for finding Open Studio. The internet can be overwhelming with the diversity of resources and the varying/inconsistent quality, and Open Studio, thanks to a referred link to a NY Times article, is exactly what I was looking for. With Open Studio, I have clarity on where to start, HOW to practice, and a roadmap of courses on HOW to improve.

Open Studio, to me, is a fantastic example of a progressive, no-nonsense way to start or continue your musical journey. It already has a giant library of videos that cover multiple instruments, philosophies, and styles, but is simultaneously expanding that library every day, based on subscriber feedback and needs! I'm glad it exists, and I'm glad it's growing to be more helpful and more comprehensive. There's no replacement for mentor-based teaching, and the fact that you can do it online gives global access to anyone who may not have had that opportunity otherwise. Thanks, ya'll, and keep up the good work.

Man, Open Studio is a gold mine. I'm learning so much with the all-access pass about all types of instruments (especially rhythm section) and it's all been helping me on my main instrument and as a musician in general.
