Took my mums dog to the Brighton pdsa because over night her belly had swelled, she wasn't walking properly and she was shaking, they felt up her bum and then Said she had cancer and to have her put down. My mum's dog is a westie and 13 years old. She's on the mend now but my mum was devasted at the thought of putting her down because we knew it couldn't possibly been cancer over night. They never even scanned her or did bloods just put there fingers up her bum. I know they are a charity but christ what has happened to the pdsa it's not the first time they have attempted to put one of our older animals down instead of treating them. And judging by the comments others have shared I'm starting to wonder if they just don't bother with older pets and rather save costs and put them to sleep. It's sad they are our family pets not just an animal.

Had an emergency at psda only vets open at the time & Honestly feel like they put my cat down with out checking him over. I Was told nothing on why he had fallen unwell I had him from a kitten and has always been an indoor cat. Wouldn’t trust them ever again seems as though it’s easier for them to put animals down rather than check and offer treatment. Truly devastated as I am now left in regret wishing I waiting until the next morning to take him to his regular vets.

Rang them up for a mysterious lump that is quickly growing on my 4 year old rottweiler to find they have "made getting an appointment easier" which entails going online to fill out a form, sending it them and then waiting for them to "contact you" in the next 5 working days. After 4 days we were "contacted" with an automatic generic reply basically telling us that they won't see her ("your pet") at all and to "get financial help elsewhere" the founder of this"charity" will be turning in their grave! No advice or reassurance other than go somewhere else!!! Absolutely disgusting. They have enough money to buy a brand new hospital but not enough apparently to treat any pets there. They used to see 5 pets per household and this is now down to ZERO while they sit back and watch the money role in

Took my 17 year old lhsa apso for check up because you could see his spine and ribs. Vet said after tests he had tumour on bowels and needed to be put to sleep. We wasn't convinced he had this problem, he wasnt losing weight or showing signs of bowel cancer so we got a second opinion from private Vet and she said there's nothing wrong with him, so basically the PDSA can't be bothered with older animals. We'd been using pdsa since he was a pup and this is how you get treated on older animals.

No words, terrible terrible service. First time using due to circumstances. In the end needed to go to a private Vet. I know PDSA are a charity but their whole business model is flawed.

No person centred approach to my pet at all. She just said to let him go rather than repeat antibiotics. Pointed to his flea collar and said is that a flea collar? I said yes. She said its not working. I said does he have fleas. She combed him thru and surprise no he doesn't have fleas. They can't be arsed to help and it's more beneficial for them to put ur dog to sleep even if they have quality if life. Wtf

These people are the most unpleasant, awful people ever. 2 years ago they have put down my beautiful dog, because instead of doing some tests they have given him a pain killer, within 2 days we have had to put him down because of a food poisoning. And yesterday I have called them to put down our Hamster ( Caramel) because he is suffering from cancer. Yesterday they have asked me to pay £30, when I have called them today to go there they have asked for £57. I am eligible for full free treatment, but these people are awful people.

Bristol PDSA is very good. Both reception staff and vets very helpful. Admittedly I think they don't always give same level of vet service as private but pay private if that's what you want! I've seen too many people with expensive cars and dogs are PDSA who if they can afford those, why do they need PDSA? Means the needs of those with out money don't get highest levels of care the PDSA used to be able to provide. I also agree with their one 'animal treatment for donation' and reduced treatment costs for 2nd pet. Their service is so overwhelmed currently, it's fantastic we have this available. Also if you can't afford to get your pet chipped, you shouldn't have got one in 1st place. Please do give as much as possible when giving donation for treatment

Receptionist was disgusting at Bournmouth PDSA. She should be sent to people skills training. After I dropped my dog off I went to get some money from cash point and as I was sitting in my car she came running out shouting you've got to pay first. My friend in the car was shocked at her attitude. I then was 10.00 short and when I went back to pay she said I wondered where you were. You can't get through on the phone unless you say it is an emergency. The vets were lovely even though the operation was not a success. I will have to find another one to finish the job as can not stand to see the Receptionist again. It is embarrassing to the name of the practice as the vets were so respectful. I won't give you her name because she knows who she is. C Sherlock.

Doped our cat up on methadone and expected him to eat asked us to transport him to a different vet 6miles away every night and morning he was left in a room at night and only checked on at this other vet after 5 days of so called care they insisted he needed put to sleep or take to another vet for 2nd opinion which we obviously could not afford wouldn't recommend to anyone cruel

Do not use pdsa. They will not inform you of any treatment your pet needs in order to save funding. Take you pet to a private vet. They left my cat to suffer in pain for years knowing she had rotten teeth and heart disease. They turned me away saying “ you’ve got a cat that’s eating and drinking; we are a charity” I was unaware of the dental and heart disease although they knew. Private vet informed me of her diagnosis’

Do not take your pet to pdsa. They will not diagnose or treat your pet in order to save funding. After numerous visits to pdsa over numerous years I eventually took my cat to a private vet whom diagnosed heart disease and rotten teeth. She was put to sleep. Pdsa left me ignorant to her suffering and left her to suffer in pain over many years. They turned me away saying “you’ve got a cat that’s eating and drinking”
