“I had Ilia as my teacher, and I'm not exaggerating when I say this: He was one of the best teachers I've ever had, if not the best. He is truly a rockstar but without the guitar. I was fortunate enough to have Ilia as my teacher for the PSAT 4-Week Course and multiple hours of tutoring. Before working with Ilia, I had been scoring in the upper 1400s range on my practice tests, unable to get over the hump into the 1500s range. My biggest struggle was always with English, specifically with grammar. Ilia's wealth of knowledge, particularly in semi-colons, colons, idioms, and minor more technical aspects of vocabulary, was a game-changer for me. Here are the results of my six sat practice tests while working with Ilia. I got a 1600, a 1590, two 1580s, one 1560, and one 1550. These are the total results of all practice tests I took while working with Ilia. My scores represent, on average, a 100-point increase from the high 1400s that I was scoring. On the practice tests for math, I got four 800s and two 780s. For English, I got two 800s, one 790, one 780, one 770, and one 760. These scores and results speak volumes for Ilia as a teacher, Prep Expert as a company, and founder Shaan Patel. The classes and tutoring were perfect in terms of structure. Ilia ensured the class was engaging while providing insightful information and strategies, always answering every question precisely, as needed, to understand the material better.”

“The website advertises a “200-point improvement or your money back” guarantee, but in reality it is riddled with artificial technicalities. I purchased the unlimited plan, and my child completed two full SAT prep courses, did assignments, watched the lectures, solved over 900 questions (!), and took their six full-length practice tests—scoring consistently between 1430 and 1540. Then came the official SAT: a 1280 (only 170 above his PSAT). That’s absurdly below what the practice tests predicted. When I applied for a refund (which they advertise is “as easy as 1-2-3”), I was told we didn’t qualify. Why? Because assignments were submitted after tight deadlines (but still weeks prior to the SAT) and he watched recordings of some meetings which fell around holiday travel even though all the work was done weeks before the SAT. What about the second course he took to make sure he did not miss anything the first time around - that's another 6 weeks of lectures, assignments, etc.? They took care of that too. The score improvement guarantee only applies to the first course taken—even if you paid for multiple classes or bought the unlimited plan. That restriction is buried deep in the terms and is not pointed out when you are being upsold on the unlimited plan and boxed into a short time frame to make your decision. So even if your child were to do everything perfectly in the second course, it wouldn't count. Bottom line: the refund policy is filled with technicalities that make it impossible to actually qualify. Practice tests and assignments are way too easy and underprepare you for the official test. Read the fine print. Proceed with caution.”

“I greatly enjoyed my time during my 6 week SAT course. My instructor Ilia Kolmagorov was awesome. He brought great energy to the lesson with the way he teaches and interacts with us. His jokes and style of teaching make the learning process fun. I noticed improvements in my SAT score and expect greater improvements following the end of the course through more studying. I loved my instructor and the style of the course was great.”

“professor ilia was an amazing teacher. i feel like i learned a lot of helpful skills that i have and will utilize on the SAT and other tests. I like the refocusing exercises he does before class and his sense of humor. Overall this class has brought my SAT score up and i feel more confident taking the SAT which is very good.”

“My instructor Miguel Chavira was absolutely amazing. He explained everything we needed and went above and beyond what was provided to him by prep expert even. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. Before his class I was slated to be a very unlikely student to receive more than 150 points on my Sat on top of what I’ve gotten before, but with what I was able to learn with Miguel, I’ve gained a total of 260 points additional points on practice tests. The short time I’ve shared with him over just zoom call has the potential to completely turn my life around with the knowledge I know posses because of him. I genuinely jumped out of my seat when I got my first score over my target of 1400, with it being a 1530. Just this number has made my parents that much more proud of me coming from my past of mediocrity in academic areas and changed completely how I view myself personally in how much potential I perceive myself to posses and the tangibility of scoring anywhere above a 1300. I will talk about this class and Miguel Chavira as one of the fundamental factors in my life that will hopefully lead to an incredible future (It’s hasn’t been THAT long yet) starting with admittance to my college of preference. A school that was my dream reach 3 months ago, now feeling firmly within my likelihood of attending thanks to this class primarily. I can’t thank Miguel and PrepExpert enough for the incredible change and confidence they have imbued me with in just the 12 weeks I’ve participated. I will not soon forget what has transpired. Miguel Chavira should, like, totally also get a huge raise. Or like a reallly big Christmas bonus. Or a Porsche. (I’m really sorry I’m submitting this review twice, I put my email in wrong the first time 😬)”

“Miguel Chavira was someone I would like to have as a personal tutor. His way of teaching really helped me understand most the lessons and whenever I had any questions. He always read my questions and he did his best to answer it in a way I understand it. I don't believe he ever missed one questions because he is that type of tutor. “Customer service is bad and not clear on what to do. Lack of support. When their website went down, they have no proper protocols or policy in place to handle it. This was 10 mins before class started. So I reached out to support which is via sms text. They gave the generic reply and after an hour we were able to connect. They said a makeup would be in place. And an email will be sent out on what to do next. But no email. So my kid is just sitting there with no next step. They assume we know to watch the recording. Glenda their director of enrollment said they will reach out by the next day of outage. But none was made. Not professional at all in addressing the issue and aftermath. All I expected is Communication!! At this point it is no different then watching a YouTube video about SAT and taking the practice from a book. Their exam is not digital like the real test, that will adjust the difficulty level as you answer right or wrong. Will not recommend this product.”

“My instructor was Mr. Jameson and he was really helpful! He had a very positive and fun attitude in class so it created and extremely exciting atmosphere to be in. He joked around many times and it made it an enjoyable class. I also felt his explanations were really good especially with Science and Math. Mr. Jameson also helped us just get a lot of background info and how the ACT would benefit us in college applications too which was really really helpful. Overall, I really enjoyed the class and feel more confident about taking the ACT.”
