I have had the 6 for less than a week, still tinkering with it. It looks fantastic. Extremely quick brew. Dislikes include the spritz of coffee from the gasket upon pulling the carafe after the brew is complete, also finding coffee still in the basket after the brew is supposedly complete (maybe my fav Starbucks preground is too fine?) The water filler cap should have some exterior marking on it to alleviate turning it upside down to fit it in correctly. The carafe really needs to be inverted quite a lot to finish out the last of the coffee. Positives: The coffee we have been drinking for years has taken on a totally different wonderful flavor. Overall I like it, but may have to make some adjustments to accommodate the 6

This review is for the Ratio 4. The wait is finally over and well worth it! I saw the demo at the SCA in Portland and was chopping at the bit to get one. The size is perfect. My first cup was outstanding, very smooth and balanced. I used a bright Kenya, and I was able to taste some fruit notes and plenty of clarity. I did a side-by-side comparison with the Fellow Aiden, and I found the Ratio 4 to be the better-tasting cup. I prefer not to deal with settings. I highly recommend this brewer. You get the benefit of a pour-over without the hassle of timing, and it has the built-in bloom feature. It does it all for you. I can now retire my Ratio 6 since it is larger than my needs.

We're sorry to hear that you've decided to return your machine! We would have been happy to assist with a replacement or address any concerns. While the water tank is now made from high-quality BPA-free plastic for durability, we still strive to maintain the same premium brewing experience.

Broke my Ratio, which now requires a hardware update. Really wish there was some kind of warning on this product.

Great upgrade from the glass carafe that came with the Ratio. Frankly I'm surprised it took five years to break the glass one -- it's tall, and I am clumsy. The day finally came, and I upgraded to the thermal carafe with ceramic dripper. The generic filters sit higher in the new carafe, so there is less coffee splashing on the countertop during brewing. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot longer, and the pour spout doesn't drip. Great upgrade!

I bought the ratio 6. It was awesome. Everything I want in a home brewer. I only do pour over, but if I have company this is the best way to make batch coffee for guests. I could not tell that it was refurbished. Feels brand new.

Overall it's great, but it's I hate the fact that you can't seal off the carafe now. I tend to make a pot and drink it throughout the day alone. Cutting another groove in the lid would have been simple to give it a third locked shut position. The simplicity with which that would have been accomplished through no real additional extra manufacturing costs and the fact y'all choose not to because "we didn't see any added benefit" kind of ruins any good about the new design, even though other than no shut position its pretty perfect.

Thanks for the note! We actually produced multiple prototypes of a 3-position design, but after months of testing, we decided the 2-position was better. Appreciate your input!

I want this Carafe to work better than it does but 1/2 the time I can't use it in my Ratio 8 as it will overflow if I make a full pot. It doesn't drip fast enough (using a chemex filter). Unfortunately my ratio 8 is also a bit dissapointing as the bloom stage does only wets half of my grounds. While I'm happy with the machine (it makes a great cup or joe) and appreciate the quality parts (especially the glass water compartment), my expectations for the design (especially with the price tag) have not been met.

4 out of 5. It's beautiful,it maintains heat but needs some sort of handle. It's hot to pick up and easy to drop. This is our second.

While a huge fan of the coffee my Ratio Six produces, I remain disappointed that we had to pay anything for a defect-corrected carafe. This isn’t a $30 coffee maker. Further, I was quite surprised, after inspecting the replacement carafe, that the same corrected functionality can be achieved by gently removing the flexible plastic piece above the spout of the original defectively-designed carafe. I’ve tested the piece-removed carafe for a couple of days now and it works fine. And if for some reason, I want to have dripping all over my countertop during pours again, I can put the flexible plastic piece back - it attaches/snaps back in easily. But hey, for $40 I now have a lesson learned *and* a carafe planter suitable for flowers or cactus or something. TLDR version: Definitely buy the Ratio Six or the Eight if you want fantastic pourover coffee in the precise amount and strength you want. Now that the carafe has been corrected, you won’t have that to deal with. But yeah, if you already own one, maybe save yourself $40-$75 and simply remove the plastic piece. Doh.

Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate your insight. That part is removable and we're glad you prefer the pour without it. Our redesigned carafe aims to improve aesthetics and functionality by eliminating moving pieces like the lever.
