“Overall: Our stay was incredible. From the moment we arrived we knew we were in for something special. The pictures we had were nice, but no picture could capture the beauty of this place. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, the room felt Old World but had every modern appliance, and the view were some of the best Tuscany had to offer. Enjoyed Most: To pick one thing would be to absurd. If forced all I could say would be: My favorite thing about the property are the memories and stories it gave me. Enjoyed Least: While the windows had no screens and felt we were eaten alive by insects, I have to say there was no real negative experience. Surrounding Area: The location of the property was central to just about every major tourist attraction-town. Florence was a 20 minute drive... this made exploration of Tuscany easy and fun. Nearby Events or Locales: Bargino was the small town located nearby. It was within walking distance -we did in fact walk there. But the majority of the walk is up the steep road and not recommended for foot travel on a regular basis. Tips or Restaurants: Our room came fully stocked. The exploration of San Casciano is well worth the time. It came to be our favorite Tuscan town and was NOT considered to be a good tourist point by any travel book. Directions: Be patient. Once you start getting close to the property, the directions are perfect and easy to follow.”

“Overall: We have taken many high end trips, but this was the best one we have had so far. A. Over the top. Wonderful. I don't have enough superlatives. Enjoyed Most: Very comfortable set up for a family. The bedrooms are many and large and comfortable. The food served outside, inside and by the pool was very relaxed. The pool was over the top. The whole place is well kept up and modern. We had internet access, ping pong, tennis, fous ball, petanque. We kept 9 children and 13 adults delightedly amused all week. The staff was very friendly, helpful, on the spot. We really liked Andre and Jean-Jacques, Lina, Josie-Anne and Chantal. The took great care of us. Enjoyed Least: No complaints. Surrounding Area: The surrounding Provencal area is magical. Great mountain biking and hiking. Easy access to all of the stunning Luberon region. Nearby Events or Locales: Simiande La Rotande is about 3K away. We walked and ran there often. We also biked and drove to Banon several times, which is about 7K away. Both are beautiful little perched villages. Tips or Restaurants: No good restaurants in the area, but the food at the house was great. We had a great time going to the market in Fortqualquier on Monday morning. Directions: The directions worked great. It also helped to rent a car with a GPS. Check In Out: Andre does a great job of handling everything. All went smoothly.”

“Overall: We did enjoy our stay at this lovely property. We all had a wonderful holiday, and the best part was the week in Chenaud. We will certainly add this home to our list of places to which we hope to make a return visit and we are letting our friends know what a wonderful spot it is. “Overall: We had a wonderful time at the Casa Fascinante. We were four couples and there was plenty of room for all of us. The owners were gracious and hospitable. Maria went out of her way to make my birthday dinner memorable, even whipping up a chocolate cake on very short notice. Federica spoke English and was always helpful. Enjoyed Most: The garden and pool area were beautiful and well-maintained. The views were gorgeous, and even though the house was surrounded by other houses, the landscaping provided privacy. Enjoyed Least: The property is advertised as having bug screens, however only half of the windows had them. The front door was also very hard to open with the key provided. Overall we thought these were minor problems. Surrounding Area: The villa was well situated for day trips. We were situated between Pisa, Florence and Siena and could reach them easily. We also took the train from Castelfiorentino into Florence several times. Nearby Events or Locales: Castelfiorentino was about 3 km. away. The train station is next to the tourist information office and you can buy tickets for the train there if they are open. Otherwise the Bar across the street sells them and there are automated ticket machines on the platforms also. There is a parking lot by the train station where we would leave our car for day trips. Tips or Restaurants: The CoOP was a supermarket chain that was in almost every town. It was handy for stocking up on toilet paper, etc. In general the kitchen was well stocked with cutting boards and even some spices. We were able to prepare meals easily.The bathroom towels were new and were very thin probably for fast drying in the high humidity. Some persons might prefer to bring their own towel, as the bathroom towels were the thickness of kitchen dish towels.”

“Overall: Wonderful!!!!! The manager gave us so much personal attention that it was better than having a concierge. The villa was awesome. and we really enjoyed being off the beaten path. Enjoyed Most: We enjoyed being in a secluded area. The courtyard was beautiful. and we felt that we were living like locals. Enjoyed Least: Nothing Surrounding Area: Quiet Nearby Events or Locales: Meglachori Tips or Restaurants: You do not need to bring anything extra - there were hairdryers, soap, shampoo, iron, toilet paper. Check In Out: The manager picked us up with a rental car and brought us back to the airport at 5am.”

“Overall: We had a wonderful time, and the owner and staff of the villa were very helpful and attentive. They made us feel at home and welcome. Enjoyed Most: The high-level of interior design. This was by far the most "expensive looking" rental we have ever stayed in, and we constantly felt like we were in a 5-star resort. The daily maid service was much welcomed, and we were very thankful that a car rental was taken care of prior to our arrival and waiting for us. Enjoyed Least: We couldn't figure out if you could plug the drain in the bathroom in the upstairs unit. Surrounding Area: The village we stayed in was absolutely beautiful. The owners of the villa also own a restaurant at the end of the road, and we were often down there eating and visiting with the other employees. Because they all worked together, if something was wrong with the house, we could just tell anybody down there and they were always eager and willing to help. Nearby Events or Locales: We stayed in a small town, Megalochori. Picture perfect! Tips or Restaurants: This villa came fully stocked, so in the end we didn't need to bring the majority of the kitchen supplies that Rentvillas.com recommended in their orientation packet. Directions: The owner arranged for pick-up to and from the port, so they took all the worry out of arrival.”

“Overall: We would recommend it to anyone. It is a beautiful place. Very comfortable. Away from the tourist trap of Fira, but close enough to be able to drive most places within a few minutes. Enjoyed Most: It was very private, clean and spacious. Enjoyed Least: Not within walking distance to the beach. Surrounding Area: It was quaint and charming. We were surrounded by the authentic Greek culture. It wasn't commercial. Lots of nice places to eat within walking distance. Nearby Events or Locales: Most places required driving to, although you could walk. We walked to Fira one day and it took us about 45 minutes. During the busy summer months it would probably be too hot to walk. There was enough accessible in the town where we stayed, so we were content. Tips or Restaurants: Renters have an option to request an automatic car if they are not comfortable driving manual. We didn't know that and we would have chosen automatic if we had known. I would say not to over-pack. It becomes a burden.Metaxumus is a local restaurant only known to the local people. It is a gem. All of the restaurants in Megalochori village were great. Directions: We were taken to the property by a representative of the property, so we had no problems. In fact, he was so nice - he even gave my husband a crash-course in driving a manual car. Check In Out: Our key-holder, Ester, was kind and sweet. She made us feel very comfortable and welcome.”

“Overall: We would definitely return. The photos on the website do not do the property justice. Enjoyed Most: The location was very nice. Lots of trees, quiet, beautiful pool, lovely house. The kitchen and bathrooms were all new, clean and well-equipped. There were many places to sit outside in solitude or with your traveling companions. The owner met us at our arrival and gave us a very detailed explanation of the home in French; her English is not very strong. She also called for us and made restaurant reservations and the restaurant owner helped us find an extra room at a bed and breakfast in the area. Everyone was wonderful. Enjoyed Least: The electrical system tripped when we used all the appliances, but it is easy to reset. Surrounding Area: Convenient to all locations including several large grocery stores, small bakeries, restaurants, etc. Nearby Events or Locales: Isle-sur-la Sorgue is a few kilometers away. Not within walking distance - you definitely need a car. Tips or Restaurants: There is also a microwave oven contrary to the information on the website.”

“Overall: Very happy; would go again. Enjoyed Most: Great location; nicely decorated; spacious; optional dinners. Enjoyed Least: Dusty in Tuscany; small shower. “Overall: It was absolutely wonderful! Enjoyed Most: The VIEW! Enjoyed Least: The ferry ride across from Venice, but it was well worth it! Surrounding Area: Small restaurant towards the ferry stop was wonderful - I cannot recall the name, however it also offered sandwiches to go at the front of the restaurant as well as outdoor seating. Food and service was excellent. Nearby Events or Locales: Take the ferry across. Very easy and convenient, although pricey. Buy the pass for a few days. Tips or Restaurants: We did not cook at all here. They provided coffee, cream, breakfast items stocked in fridge such as ham, water, milk and then crackers, cereal, etc! It was a treat in itself! Directions: It was good to take the taxi if you have many bags. We ended up rolling our bags when we left, down to the public transportation and took the ferry to the Piazza Roma - it was very easy and fast, too! Check In Out: Great experience - they upgraded our room for us! How delightful!”

“Overall: The experience exceeded expectations in all ways. The home is amazing, and even more beautiful and extensive than the photos and literature suggest. T manager offered a tour and overview of how to operate appliances and other such practical manners. She was also available to assist us with any other requests for directions, suggestions, sites, etc. We invited her to dinner the last evening and learned about the history of the castle. Her gracious style was an enhancement and a practical benefit to a group that spoke no Spanish!Previous reviews suggest "the bell" was a big problem. The house has modern insulated windows and air conditioning. With the windows closed, you could not hear the bells. Our room was immediately adjacent to the bell tower, too. Our group consisted of 7 couples plus a single. There was plenty of privacy for all, yet rooms large enough to congregate in for a large group. We could seat 15 for dinner at one large round table, and there were numerous sitting rooms lounges to offer quiet places if desired. Enjoyed Most: The proprietor was available to help with recommendations and translations- she speaks excellent English and has offices at the foot of the castle. The home was beautifully furnished and has an exceptional private patio with pool. Daily housekeeping was an added plus. Kitchen was well equipped allowing for meals to be cooked for a large group. Ample supply of good quality linens and dishes were available to set a formal table. A modern washer and dryer is available to guests. Enjoyed Least: One small bar in the village is open only on weekends. All amenities require driving, but there were shops and restaurants that were not far. Surrounding Area: Excellent access to major roads. Sites in the area range from beaches to museums to archaeological sites. The Castillo was a convenient base to support the highlights of the region, yet offered a private, tranquil retreat for those in pursuit of sheer relaxation. Nearby Events or Locales: The village of St Mori is home to "120 souls". There is a daily bread truck, once a week vegetable market, and a butcher in the village. Everything else requires a car to access. Tips or Restaurants: There is a list of suggested restaurants at the home. Linens, towels, nominal supplies such as dish liquids, soap, toilet paper, were provided. There are chefs available to cook and serve at the home and clean up! We took advantage of that the last evening.”

“Overall: This was one of the best places we have rented. It is to be highly recommended. Enjoyed Most: It's in a beautiful location, surrounded by wonderful countryside. It was extremely quiet they even turn off the church bells at night! and with few cars on the roads it made for excellent walking and in my case, running. The owners are delightful and have done a superb job of renovating the property. It is exceptionally well equipped and brilliantly designed with beautiful touches. The main building is equally well appointed suitable for 4 or 8 people and because of the thoughtful design each is secluded from the other. Enjoyed Least: The only thing I can come up with is that there was no place to hang our coats and walking boots downstairs, which in the summer is not going to be an issue! As it was the end of the summer, there were a few very dozy wasps around the grape vines on the back of the house which for those fearful of them might be an issue. Surrounding Area: It was absolute bliss to wander along the quiet country lanes around the property and running at sunrise was gorgeous - we live in Bahrain where it's nothing but sand so you can imagine how wonderful it was for us! There is an amazing monolithic underground church at Auberterre sure Dronne which is 9km away and walkable if you're feeling energetic. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest town is probably St Auyale about 4km away. It has everything, including a post office, but watch out for the opening hours! We usually went to the supermarket in whatever town we were in on the way home. Intermarche seems to be the main chain in the region and has everything you need. Plus there are a myriad of specialist shops in virtually every village you visit and a market some where on most days of the week particularly in the summer, so we were told. Tips or Restaurants: There's a lovely restaurant in Chalais in the old chateau. As we went off season many of the places recommended by the owners were shut but we did notice a place up the road in Les Essards which looked OK 4km up the road. Cooking at home was easy as the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. St Emilion and the surrounding area is glorious. And we'd recommend a trip to see the largest sand dunes in Europe on the coast west of Bordeaux at Arcachon. We had a lovely lunch in a place in the square at Auberterre. A trip to Bordeaux is worthwhile. We spent our first night there in a boutique hotel. The old town is lovely and there are lots of shopping options for those last minute gifts. Check In Out: We were a bit disappointed to have to pay 50 Euros for cleaning. We felt this could have been included in the rental fee. For those who think the 500 euro deposit is high, it is such a beautifully and luxuriously appointed place I now see why the deposit was such!”

“Enjoyed Most: The house was beautiful, and really well appointed. Gorgeous glasses, dishes, furnishings, etc. Enjoyed Least: Too far from the town to walk. The caretakers are also the owner/vintners, which wasn't an inconvenience, as they were never intrusive, but they are right there. Surrounding Area: Very central and scenic. Tips or Restaurants: Stay with what the owners recommend. They have done their homework and are very knowledgeable.”

“Overall: We had a great time! We rented several units in the castle and a nearby house to accommodate our family group of about 20. It was just perfect. It was exactly what we wanted and expected. Enjoyed Most: It was beautiful and perfect for our family gathering. Very good location. Enjoyed Least: For the older members of the family, the stairs were a litte difficult. Also, the walk into town was farther and steeper than was comfortable for the same age group.”

“Overall: We are home now and want to let you know that we had a very enjoyable stay at our rental. The house was very comfortable, the weather perfect, the pool GREAT, the countryside beautiful. Everyone had a great time.The dinner on the 7th went fine. We were all on the terrace overlooking the Luberon Mountains and it was a fabulous evening. Yousef, our chef, was great, and he hired a singer, photographer, and rented tables and set-ups for our group. It was a wonderful 25th Anniversary. Enjoyed Most: The pool and the countryside. Enjoyed Least: The only problem we had was almost complete lack of Internet service, and we had really counted on that. Long story, but we felt the problem could have been fixed if we had someone who could unlock the office door to restart the modem. Even when we finally did get the system restarted, it only worked for about a day and then went out again.”

“Overall: This property fulfilled all of our images of what a Tuscan vacation would be. The family was incredibly gracious, hospitable and helpful. It was a stunning experience. Having been built on Etruscan ruins and having a history that can be traced to ca. 1100 A.D., this property was the perfect place for us - a group of teachers - to be.The pictures on the web site do not come close to doing justice to the estate. Enjoyed Most: Spaciousness and grandeur of the estate, and the family that owned it. It was stunning. I was responsible for finding the villa where our group of 30 would be staying. When I was asked what was the best part of our 2 weeks in Tuscany, I replied that it was the awed and stunned reaction of my colleagues when they arrived at the end of the cedar-lined drive at the villa. I am very happy that I took my Travel Advisor's recommendation and chose this property. The villa and the 2 dinners that the owners arranged for us where nothing short of magical. Enjoyed Least: nothing Surrounding Area: There were no urban or suburban developments nearby. It was convenient to all the major Tuscan cities and hill towns. Nearby Events or Locales: Monteriggioni was within a 30-45 minute walk. This walled town was the spectacular view from almost any place on the estate. It was magical. Tips or Restaurants: Don't be hesitant ask the owners about suggestions for restaurants they never steered us wrong.”

“Overall: It's perfect for adults ... OK for children too. Enjoyed Most: It has magical views. It is right in the center of Liguria province, next to Portofino, and Cinque Terre. Enjoyed Least: The property sits atop of a steep hill. Although there is a private shuttle taking residents to the city, it is not flexible enough ... so we had to walk up the hill a few times. Surrounding Area: Liguria is Italy at its best ... nature, culture and history have come together to create an authentic Italian experience. Tips or Restaurants: Bring your own entertainment electronics and content.”

“Overall: We loved everything about it. It was the perfect place to spend Christmas with our family. It was very roomy, and the separate apartment in the basement was nice to have for our teenage kids to have a little space of their own. Enjoyed Most: The location was great with easy access to Florence as well as many other quaint towns. We also appreciated having a staff on hand to help us out. They were very accommodating and helpful. The villa stayed really cozy and warm even with snowy winter weather outside. Enjoyed Least: Not enough hot water. Surrounding Area: Many wonderful small towns are near by with an endless supply of great restaurants and shops. It was nice to be so close to Florence about a 20 min drive and yet still be out in the country. Nearby Events or Locales: Bargino, but it is very small. You could walk but it would be a hike back up- about 1 mile or so up a steep road. San Casciano was about 5 km and it is a good size town with grocery stores, restaurants etc. Tips or Restaurants: We had a wonderful meal at the Restaurant "La Delfina" in the small town of Artimino, about a 30 minute drive from the villa. The views from the restaurant are amazing. Directions: It was very easy to find even in the dark. It is right off the Superstrada which makes it very easy to get to. Check In Out: The staff was so helpful. They even did our laundry for us when the washing machine broke.”
