Enjoyed Most: The large garden and pool and the large dining room. Great for 5 couples on both accounts. Enjoyed Least: The property needs to be signed better. Even though the directions to the villa are good, the house has a very little sign which we passed by three times before calling the house and getting a person to stand outside the house on our arrival. Surrounding Area: Local Restaurants and Lucca. Nearby Events or Locales: Its was Vorno, and it was within walking distance, but not really much there. The location lends itself more to visiting the coastal sites, then Florence or Siena. The distance from the villa to Siena is a little to far. If they want to spend time visiting the coast and Lucca, it is ideal. A good find is to visit Cinque Terre. This should be highlighted.< Tips or Restaurants: The day manager knew all the good restaurants, so just telling her what you are looking for is good enough.

Overall: The property more than met our expectations, and is very well managed. . Many thanks. We will certainly use your services again in the future when we go to Italy. Enjoyed Least: Our only complaint is that the bed was uncomfortable, and we put the mattress on the floor. I spoke with the property manager about that. Otherwise it was a perfect place to stay.

Enjoyed Most: The view and size of the property. Enjoyed Least: Parking was a small problem since the lot is short about two parking spots when full and is unlit at night. There were also thin walls in the master bedroom, at times we could hear noises from next door. Surrounding Area: The quiet, scenic vistas were tremendous. The roads were easily marked and the nearby towns were great. Nearby Events or Locales: San Gimignano was only a few kilometers away. It was within walking distance and took about forty minutes to get there. We never did the walk, but drove the car to the entrance gate and parked for a couple of Euros. Tips or Restaurants: This place has everything including a washer, dryer and iron. The kitchen is fully equipped. There was service for six, a coffee maker, and a dishwasher.

Overall: I would definitely rent this particular property. It was well appointed, well located, and the views were awesome. Aside from the noise and the mosquites, a phenomenal apartment and a phenomenal Italy experience! Enjoyed Most: The spacious floor plan, roof top terrace and location with in the city of Florence Enjoyed Least: Santa Croce becomes "Party Central" starting at about 1:00pm and continues until sun up. Bongo drums, soccer games, partying and screaming. We couldn't figure out how to turn on the AC until the last 3 days. Once we did that, the problem was solved. Also, lots of mosquites. Again, closing the windows and turning on the AC solved the problem. Be sure to ask how to operate the AC and where the units are located. Surrounding Area: The walking distance to everything! Tips or Restaurants: Definitely the need to bring mosquito repellent and ear plugs if you don't want to use the AC. The Standa market, which is just 3 blocks away, was a great supermarket and 2 restaurants that we liked a lot were the Open Bar restaurant south of the Arno, close to the Ponte Vecchio, and also Santa Croce Pizzeria across the square was fantastic.

Enjoyed Most: The view, castle, and the peace and quiet. Enjoyed Least: Not being able to dry clothes and having no heat to take the dampness out of the apartment. Surrounding Area: The lovely view and the surrounding hill towns. Nearby Events or Locales: Montagnana is within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Bring warm clothes for the month of May. There are wonderful restaurant in Montagnana.

Overall: We all loved it. Enjoyed Most: It is stunningly beautiful and very spacious. We had eight in our party and didn't even use the upstairs at all. The location is very quiet except for birdsong and the grounds are lovely. It is close to trains, sightseeing and shopping. Enjoyed Least: The pillows and the lack of soap! Surrounding Area: There is so much to enjoy. We recommend Carpineto, a winery, only 1.8 km down the road for tastings, and to some of the closer towns Greve, Panzano, San Gimignano, Cortona, Florence. It is in the middle of Chianti country so the countryside is rolling and covered with vineyards. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town is Lucolena, definitely within walking distance, only about 1.5 km away. You can see it from the villa. Tips or Restaurants: The best restaurant is Locanda Borgo Antico, just past Lucolena. The food is fantastic and the prices unbelievable. Dinner for eight with wine was only 200 Euros. Shop in Figline at the Co-op, there are good prices and excellent selection. Keep in mind that you should wear the plastic gloves provided when choosing fruits and veggies, and remember to weigh them and get a price sticker before getting into the check-out line. The machine is easy to follow as it has pictures of the produce if you don't know the Italian names. In Greve there is an excellent wine tasting place where you can taste over 100 wines and olive oils. There is also an excellent butcher in Greve. Check In Out: Christina and Leonardo are wonderful and their English impressive.

Enjoyed Most: We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and found a welcome basket with fruit, cookies, cereal, and bread, and eggs, cheese, and milk in the refrigerator. This was a very thoughtful gesture that we greatly appreciated. We enjoyed coming home to our cottage after a day of sightseeing and being able to cook dinner and watch a movie, read a book, or play a game together. The cottage had a wonderful selection of entertainment! The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped. Enjoyed Least: We didn't realize that the "bathroom" did not have a stand up shower - just a bathtub with a handheld shower. Also, the telephone was coin-operated and only worked for calls within England; no international calls. Surrounding Area: We absolutely loved driving to our property and seeing the fields of yellow flowers and the adorable sheep and baby lambs grazing in the green grass. The area was very peaceful and quiet and we enjoyed waking up to the sounds of birds singing. Our favorite nearby town was Bourton-on-the-Water, absolutely delightful! Nearby Events or Locales: The cottage is located in the town of Windrush, which consists of only a church and houses. Burford was the nearest larger town with shops, but it was not within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: A mobile phone would be helpful. Directions: We did not have any trouble finding the property. Check In Out: We were supposed to call our keyholder prior to our arrival but we did not have a mobile phone. However the next door neighbor was home and generously called the keyholder when we arrived. She told us where to find the key and everything was fine. The keyholder did not meet us at the time of check-out either, so we left the key where we found it. Everything was fine though.

Enjoyed Most: The views were amazing - exactly how we had imagined. Enjoyed Least: It was really cold at night and there was no heating allowed at the time we were there. Bed was also very hard and uncomfortable and the blankets kept slipping off. Surrounding Area: So close to everything. Loved exploring the towns and cities of Tuscany. Nearby Events or Locales: Baccaiano. Fairly easy to walk there but to get back is uphill all the way and would be pretty exhausting. Tips or Restaurants: The restaurant in the castle is excellent and very convenient! Bring warm pyjamas and bring a radio if you can't handle the peace and quiet!! We weren't aware that there is a bus from Florence that goes right past the castle until we got there. Trying to navigate our way out of Florence in our rental car was a nightmare!!! The car definitely came in handy to explore the rest of Tuscany, but wasn't necessary like we were lead to believe. You could have gotten around by getting a bus into Florence and then a train out to other towns.

Overall: Staff were very nice and it is a beautiful location. Enjoyed Most: Very beautiful and special countryside. Provided a unique Italian experience. Enjoyed Least: Their wine was expensive at 34 Euros, compared to Tuscany wine sold in town for approximately 7 Euros. Because of cost we never tried it. I would suggest they have a reduced cost for the guests. Surrounding Area: Beautiful countryside. It is like a giant postcard. People of the area were very nice to us. Nearby Events or Locales: Montopoli, easy car drive away.

Enjoyed Most: Being on a working farm with wine and olive oil - and the history of the place. Very nice owners. Enjoyed Least: Stairs, we had one old person that had trouble with the steps. Surrounding Area: Everything. Nearby Events or Locales: Monteriggioni, yes we walked there once. Tips or Restaurants: All of the food in Monteriggioni was good, and not too expensive.

Overall: Very convenient and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in town. Enjoyed Most: Very good location. Can walk to Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio in 10 minutes. The veranda and high ceilings gave this apartment a very roomy feeling. Enjoyed Least: The second bedroom was more of an office/TV room with a bed. Surrounding Area: Close proximity to places to eat and things to see. Check In Out: The owner was very pleasant and helpful

Overall: This is a very enjoyable apartment - very comfortable. Enjoyed Most: The palazzo in which the apartment is located is a lovely building. The apartment itself is spacious and well appointed. It also has good storage space and is well organized for everyday living. Surrounding Area: The apartment is in an ideal location in Florence. It is closely located to all major sites and yet is on a very quiet, peaceful street. There are wonderful small shops nearby for groceries, etc. There is also a good gym within a few blocks. Tips or Restaurants: Santo Bevitore on via Santo Spirito; I 13 Gobbi on via Porcellana

Overall: We loved everything about it. It was the perfect place to spend Christmas with our family. It was very roomy, and the separate apartment in the basement was nice to have for our teenage kids to have a little space of their own. Enjoyed Most: The location was great with easy access to Florence as well as many other quaint towns. We also appreciated having a staff on hand to help us out. They were very accommodating and helpful. The villa stayed really cozy and warm even with snowy winter weather outside. Enjoyed Least: Not enough hot water. Surrounding Area: Many wonderful small towns are near by with an endless supply of great restaurants and shops. It was nice to be so close to Florence about a 20 min drive and yet still be out in the country. Nearby Events or Locales: Bargino, but it is very small. You could walk but it would be a hike back up- about 1 mile or so up a steep road. San Casciano was about 5 km and it is a good size town with grocery stores, restaurants etc. Tips or Restaurants: We had a wonderful meal at the Restaurant "La Delfina" in the small town of Artimino, about a 30 minute drive from the villa. The views from the restaurant are amazing. Directions: It was very easy to find even in the dark. It is right off the Superstrada which makes it very easy to get to. Check In Out: The staff was so helpful. They even did our laundry for us when the washing machine broke.

Enjoyed Most: This home was absolutely gorgeous. We loved everything about it. Our group of 6 fit perfectly in the villa. We had plenty of room for privacy and still felt the coziness of traveling together. The attention to detail in the restoration was uncanny. The woodwork, tile, cleanliness and overall appearance made us feel like we were "true Italians." The explanations given about the home were right on. Enjoyed Least: We loved everything!!! The only thing that the owners could do is to give better instructions on how to use the washer-dryer. The machines had Dutch writing on them and it took us several guesses to operate. The dryers were especially tricky. Not a huge deal. We ended up using the clothes line! Surrounding Area: The home sits on its own secluded acreage. The views were breathtaking. Very private, but Proceno is a couple of minutes away. Landscaping around the house was beautiful. Herb garden for your taking. Property was well maintained. Nearby Events or Locales: Proceno. Would have been a good 30 minute walk. We loved the village. Everyone there knew us when we left. Wonderful market - "Roberto's". Many quaint streets to stroll down. There is even a castle and 7 churches. Tips or Restaurants: We ended up falling in love with one of the restaurants in town. Not only the restaurant but the family who owns it as well. They own the ice cream shop downstairs - where you can get cafes and croissants in the morning. Il Giardinetto is only 8 months old. Very chic in decorations. Food was CHEAP and delicious. We almost felt guilty when the bill would come. Cinzia, the manager, was fantastic. She spoke English and helped us with many of our day trips and directions. Check In Out: Caretaker spoke no English.

Overall: It was more beautiful than I expected and our group was most comfortable with the living arrangements on two levels. We ate as a group in the dining room and outside in the patio. I loved the swimming pool. It was cool, clean and brand new.Roberta, our contact person at the main house, was very helpful and lovely to do business with. Enjoyed Most: The house, the grounds, and the location. Enjoyed Least: We had some trouble learning how to get an outside line from the telephone but resolved the issue with several attempts. Surrounding Area: The villa's location off the superstrada made it very well situated for day trips to Florence and Pisa. Shopping was also nearby. The train station was also nearby for when we wanted to leave the cars at home. Nearby Events or Locales: Montepoli was the nearest town but we needed a car to get there. Capanne was also nearby, but again, a car was a must to get there. All in all, a car was a necessity. We had two for our group of six. Tips or Restaurants: The washer and dryer take at least an hour to complete a cycle so don't expect to do your wash, dry it, and run. We used the washer and put the clothing out on a line to dry. Locals seem to do this too. We shopped at the town supermarkets, both of which were well stocked with food and wine. We also saved by cooking at the villa. Tried to grill on some charcoal chips on the outside grill, but did not get a good enough fire going to actually grill. Seems there are no briquetts for grilling. Directions: The main gate is a very quick right turn off the roundabout and one could miss it by going too fast.

Enjoyed Most: We loved everything about it, the architecture is wonderful, the grounds are like heaven. I would like to think the people-staff are the best, and we are going back next year or sooner. Thank you so very much - I told all my friends about you and they are sure to contact you. Thank you so much we had the best vacation we ever had. Surrounding Area: Everything. Tips or Restaurants: This is the place to stay, if you are looking for the real thing.

Overall: If you like lavender you will love the property as the driveway, walkways and pool area are surrounded by lavender. The scenic property is surrounded by the vineyard and olive orchard which made for some beautiful early morning pictures with the sun shining on the dew-covered grapes. Enjoyed Most: There was nothing about the property not to love. Enjoyed Least: Nothing Surrounding Area: The beautiful countryside, scenery and friendly people. Nearby Events or Locales: Costafabbri was about a kilometer and a half away. It was an excellent exercising walk. Tips or Restaurants: We found most everything we required was supplied. Groceries could be bought in the little store in Costafabbri or there were a couple of larger supermarkets a couple of kilometers away. Check In Out: Luisa and Umberto were very hospitable and offered us wine, juice or water to quench our thirst when we arrived. Everything was simple and efficient.

Overall: We can't recommend this property enough! Enjoyed Most: The small town of Barbarino Val D'Elsa is perfection! The location is ideal for easy access to Florence and Siena by bus and Chianti hill towns by car. The property was secure, clean and very well appointed. The property manager was delightful and kind. We loved the situation of Unit 5 in the heart of town and enjoyed going to the pool area after a day of sightseeing. We felt very much at home. Enjoyed Least: The kitchen was too small for us. The kitchen only allowed for one person at a time to get coffee or a snack. This was inconvenient, but we took turns. Surrounding Area: Ideal in every possible way! The views from Barbarino were some of the most picturesque. The village had everything we needed, two small markets, bank, and cafe for a morning snack and where bus tickets could be purchased. The Campaniello restautant was our favorite place to eat of all the places we tried in both Northern and Southern Italy. Cesare, the owner, was very gracious and Salvatore, our regular waiter, was one of the family and they treated our son, age 6, like their own. Visits to San Gimignano, Volterra and Montefioralle were quite simple from this locale. Greve was a bit more of a challange. Tips or Restaurants: Eat at Campaniello as much as possible! The markets have the best fresh bread, baked right in town and theChianti Classico from Castellina was the best we tried. The pizza place in Barbarino had good food, but poor service. Check In Out: Our gas usage was so small that the manager waived the cost entirely. Very kind.
