Overall: We had a great time in the area. Aqua Paradise (water park) was fantastic, food great in the little town. it was cold and rainy most of the time. The castle was warm. The bathrooms and kitchen badly need attention. The wine and cheese gathering was great. we loved Mara and Marco who hosted the gathering. Enjoyed Most: The grounds. Enjoyed Least: it needs some tender loving care inside the apartment. Nearby Events or Locales: Aqua Paradise Park Tips or Restaurants: Marios was great food, La Lauras, Cappaccino at the gas stations are great and cheap. Directions: Never be without a gps! It was a life saver. Check In Out: Mara was great.

Overall: We enjoyed our stay overall. Enjoyed Most: The location was very convenient to the main areas in Rome and not too far from the Metro. The size of the bedrooms was very nice and the arrangement was comfortable. The couch was comfortable for sitting.Kitchen was workable and had enough pots and pans, dishes and cutlery. Enjoyed Least: I know that the mattresses in Italy are not like those in America, but the mattress was very hard and I had to use one of the comforters to pad it so I could sleep. The mattress on the sofa bed was very worn and there was no support, so my son kept falling through. He is tall, but not heavy. Fortunately, there was a roll-away bed and so he took the mattress off the bed and slept on the floor on the mattress. The chairs in the bedroom were also worn. Editor's Note: The sofa bed was replaced Dec 2011. Surrounding Area: Again, the location was convenient. The street was for the most part quiet. There was a grocery store about 1 block away and a cappuccino bar just around the corner. Tips or Restaurants: We had a very nice dinner at a restaurant called Abruze. It was just around the corner from the Church of St. Philip and St. James. It was about 4 blocks from the apartment.

Overall: It was good and the check-in process was great. Enjoyed Most: Location was good--not too far from the Vaporetto stop.WiFi worked great from the get-go; they provided the password and it worked immediately and was fast. Enjoyed Least: It was the rainy season and we did not have boots or umbrellas. The good news is that the bakery smells from across the street were wonderful. The bad news is that the noise in the street started around 4 AM. Surrounding Area: Out of the way for major tourist traffic, but quite close to St Marcos Square, etc. Close to the Arsenale and park area. Tips or Restaurants: If you see a restaurant you like and want to eat there for dinner, make a reservation as soon as you can. Directions: The key holder meets you at the Arsenale boat stop and accompanies you to the property. This is a good way to get acquainted with the area. Check In Out: We had an issue at check-out: It went just fine, but the key holder did not mention that the boat operators were going on strike (and we needed to get to the cruise ship terminal). It would have been nice to receive some recommendations on how to get around the problem. It was a BIG surprise when we got to the Vaporetto stop and nothing was there!

Overall: Very good experience. Neat property, and location. About a full hour drive from Florence as we arrived via high speed train to Florence. Enjoyed Most: Great views, and very private. Enjoyed Least: The only real problem was the weather, as it turned cold right before we got there, and it stayed that way for the 6 days we were there. Consequently we incurred some discomfort as they are not prepared to heat the house which is quite large. Two small portable heaters is all they had, which means that the entire house was pretty cold especially at night. We also used the fireplace, however there was no flue in the chimney so the house became very smoky. Surrounding Area: Just a great area. Heart of the Chianti region so the wine tasting is just excellent. Also the small towns in the area are just wonderful, particularly Castellina In Chianti, it is very pretty, great restaurants, and charm. Nearby Events or Locales: Castellina In Chianti is about 5 km from the house. Tips or Restaurants: The issue of heat needs to be addressed is you are staying in the late fall as we did. None of the items would be an issue in warmer weather. Directions: We did use GPS, and the directions provided were also good.

Overall: The Tuscany area is beautiful. We visited several areasat the direction of our driver and were not disappointed. Enjoyed Most: We were looking for a country experience and it certainlylived up to that. Enjoyed Least: The front bedroom is right next to the chiminey and wassmokey if there was a fire in the fireplace in the livingroom. The owners live right next door and sometimes itwas noisy at night. Owners had dogs that barked at night sometimes. Surrounding Area: The countryside is beautiful and we were able to walksome as the weather was great. Tips or Restaurants: Definitely will have to hire a driver or rent a car. We hireda driver which we think is the best way.

Overall: It was amazing! Enjoyed Most: The location of the property and the spectacular views! Enjoyed Least: No complaints at all! Surrounding Area: It is a fantastic place to visit with history and scenery everywhere. Nearby Events or Locales: Camucia was the closest small town, I believe. You could probably walk there but we took the bus or taxis to the train station. Tips or Restaurants: Be sure to bring a converter/adapter for the plugs. Other than that the villa is ready for your enjoyment. All of the restaurants we chose in Cortona were fantastic! Directions: We took a taxi from the Camucia train station so we didn't have to use the directions. Check In Out: Francesca was very helpful with our delay at check in and even arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the train at 10:30 p.m.

Overall: Overall, our stay was wonderful. The owners of the property were lovely people. We had our own little outside seating area which was nice after a day of outings. The kitchen was well-equipped with dishes, utensils, pots, and pans so it was great to shop locally and prepare our own dinners; there was also a BBQ that we used one evening. The wine was some of the best we tasted in Tuscany and having it so close in the 'wine room' was great. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest town was Staggia; we did not walk but it was within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: I found the evenings got quite chilly, so I would recommend a sweatshirt to put on in the mornings as the heat does not get turned on until November.Bring a blow dryer. Directions: The property was a little hard to find if you did not come in by the autostrada, so having a map or GPS is helpful.

Overall: Villa Galli is a fairly new and very beautiful villa. The view of the sea is absolutely breathtaking. Kitchen was very well appointed whereby we could get breakfast before we took off for the day. Beds were very comfortable and villa overall was very clean which I appreciated because I am a clean nut in general. Enjoyed Most: The view and the spaciousness made you feel at home and private from other people sharing villa. Closets and drawers were very ample and clean. It was very peaceful and private. Outdoor veranda is really beautiful, and good for early evening beautiful photos. I am a painter and probably will paint some of my shots. Enjoyed Least: The biggest drawback to this property are the 75 steep stairs in poor state of repair that we had to climb everyday. You have to be in fantastic shape to climb up and down everyday. We managed it fine but would have been easier to have less steep steps. We also had a lot of difficulty with flies. There are no screens anywhere. Even candles we purchased did not help. Water in showers would run hot or cold, very difficult to control. Surrounding Area: We loved the shops, restaurants and the beautiful people both Italian and others we met in Positano. Nearby Events or Locales: We were fortunate to get the best weather while there and enjoyed wonderful memorable trips to Sorrento, Capri, and Amalfi. An Amalfi coastal boat ride was just breathtaking as we went into caves and saw beautiful coral, etc. Tips or Restaurants: Absolutely, bring small flashlights to use on steps leading up to villa. We had a wonderful experience going to La Tagliata family restaurant. Not for the faint of heart as it is literally "on the moon" and is reached by shuttle supplied by the restaurant. All food is grown on premises and is definitely a "happening". Directions: We had a driver arranged by Rentvillas, and a porter to bring our bags up to villa. This was definitely a plus. Check In Out: A young lady, Filomina, was very competent and sweet and got us in and out with no problem.

Overall: Great! This is a gorgeous property on a magnificent estatewith manicured grounds, a beautiful vineyard, swimming pool, and an interesting history. It was what one dreams of when thinking of visiting Tuscany. Enjoyed Most: The beautiful setting, the privacy, the comfort and convenience of this tastefully restored farm house. The convenience to autostrada for touring the area. Enjoyed Least: The walls in the upstairs bedrooms were extremely thin. Every sound was heard in between both bedrooms. Surrounding Area: The visits to Pisa, Lucca, Florence, and Volterra were all reasonable distances and worth the mileage and time! Tips or Restaurants: We enjoyed breakfast and dinner in our lovely Tuscan home. Each day we ate our main meal at midday in a nice restaurantin the town we were visiting. We managed to get back to the house before it got dark and it was a total pleasure! Check In Out: Once we got into the property following some confusion with the directions, check in, stay, and check outwent very well.

Overall: The villa is absolutely beautiful. The layout is terrific for a group as there are large spaces where you can gather or have alone time. If you have an ideal vision of the Tuscan countryside, this would likely be it. The views are breathtaking. Enjoyed Most: The peace and quiet are fabulous. The space is terrific for a group with lots of room and a well-equipped kitchen. The outside spaces are equally beautiful and although it wasn't warm enough to swim, we did sit by the pool. Enjoyed Least: The villa is reached via a very steep gravel road so you just need to be aware. A car is an absolute necessity as nothing is in walking distance. Surrounding Area: This property is very well maintained. The grounds are lovely and the little towns around there are great. Nearby Events or Locales: There is a tiny store with the bare essentials within a 10 minute drive but the little town of Talla is the closest town (about a 15 minute drive from the house). Tips or Restaurants: I would suggest you do some grocery shopping at one of the larger stores on the way from Arezzo. The town of Talla has a wonderful restaurant, l'Orcello that we enjoyed so much we went back a second time. Arezzo is a great town with great train service. We took a day trip by train to Florence. Directions: We met the owners at an easy-to-find location and she took us to the house. It would be hard to find it the first time without help.

Overall: We absolutely loved it. Everything about our experience in this location was excellent. Enjoyed Most: The fact that we just went out our door and walked about 20 yards onto one of the main streets of San Gimignano. There were benches outside our window to the street and it was a real meeting place for the locals. My only regret was that we didn't understand Italian because it seemed that there were great conversations going on. Enjoyed Least: There was nothing we didn't like about this property. The kitchen area wasn't very big but we did not intend to cook meals there anyway. The coffee and pastry shops were literaly steps away from our door. Surrounding Area: We spent one whole day scouting out San Gimignano, drove to Pisa and spent a day there, drove to the Chianti region for a day and then also to Siena for a day. The scenery everywhere is really beautiful. Enjoyed everything about the area. Nearby Events or Locales: Poggibonsi is a 15-minute drive. Tips or Restaurants: I had taken a few things like sponges, baggies, and a sharp knife but honestly didn't need any of it. I guess if you were planning to cook these items might have come in handy but the restaurants were all so close, reasonably priced with excellent food. We didn't have a bad meal. Directions: We had a GPS and that was very helpful.

Overall: We had a very enjoyable stay here. The property was large and well appointed. It was centrally located for exploration of Normandy. The caretakers, Clairette and Jean Claude, were warm and very friendly. Enjoyed Most: We enjoyed the peaceful rural atmosphere, the spaciousness of the rooms and the grounds, and the ease in getting to a main road to go to specific destinations. Enjoyed Least: We had some confusion in the beginning about the kitchen situation as we had rented villas before and had done breakfasts and some dinners ourselves. The kitchen here is shared by the caretakers and they speak only French so it took us a couple of days to figure out what the situation was. Once we did, however we had them provide our breakfast and dinners and it was great, convenient, and very reasonably priced. Surrounding Area: This property is on or very close to the Cider Route so the surrounding area is just lovely. We visited Giverny on the way to the villa, explored the Cider Route, went to the Bayeux and the D Day beaches, to Caen, to Honfleur and to Mont St. Michel. Nearby Events or Locales: Pont L'Eveque is the nearest town. It isn't within walking distance but is less than 10 minutes by car and very charming. In the past we have been able walk to a village and have enjoyed that experience but this was great, too--can't get more convenient than just walking into the lovely dining room ! Tips or Restaurants: I would suggest planning to have Clairette prepare your breakfast and as many dinners as you can. There is nothing within walking distance (the one small restaurant nearby was closed when we were there) and she does a lovely job both with the meals and the decor. She is flexible with the breakfast so you don't have to plan a specific time, but if you need to be off early it is no problem for her to have things ready at an early hour! Directions: We used a GPS and found it without trouble, but the sign confused us a little because it looked like a hotel sign to us. Check In Out: People should be aware that the caretakers speak only French-- they are very welcoming but when you phone, if you don't speak French, communication will be challenging.

Overall: Very much enjoyed the facilities and location. Corte 1 boasted four large bedrooms for just two couples, but it felt luxurious to be able to take advantage of all the space--and we did. The central location made day trips to Florence, Lucca, Pisa, etc perfect. Enjoyed Most: Space, space, space! Enjoyed Least: I was going to say hard beds, but I think the kitchen could benefit from a real oven or convection microwave. We ate in most nights having ravaged local markets for some of the finest food stuffs we've ever experienced. It became a challenge to do it full justice in that kitchen, but we managed. Surrounding Area: Small quiet towns where you could truly get into the local culture. And everyone was so kind, in spite of our inability to speak Italian. Thankfully some knew enough English or French for us to do what we wanted. Nearby Events or Locales: Orentano. Yes--you could walk if you were dumb enough to want to challenge Italian drivers regarding who had the right of way. So we got in our car to make it a fair fight. Tips or Restaurants: This place had everything we needed, including a good two days of provisions. We brought some spice packs suited to our tastes which could have been purchased there but unless we wanted to carry back or leave behind would have been a waste. Directions: No GPS coordinates, which would have been very, very useful. The address could not be found on our GPS. Also their street sign, which is critical to finding the driveway, is hidden behind another sign.

Overall: Wonderful. We found the kitchen to be much better equipped than we'd anticipated; it actually has a stove and utensils, etc and I cooked for neighbours. It was lovely to stand by the villa gates in the evening with a glas of wine and enjoy the wonderful view overlooking Tuscany and the lake. Enjoyed Most: We liked the location inside the walls of Cortona and close proximity to local bus and train. Surrounding Area: The history, views, and friendliness of the majority of the locals. Nearby Events or Locales: Cortona is about two hundred metres away and has wonderful produce, restaurants, and coffee. Tips or Restaurants: Good walking shoes; be prepared to do a lot of walking up and down hills. Directions: We caught the local train from Rome, changed at Chiusi then disembarked at Camucia and caught the local bus from the station up to Cortona. The villa is a short walk (two hundred meters) from where the bus terminates and we phoned the owner, who knew we were coming and was very helpful.

Overall: Our overall experience was very good. It is a small space except for the lower bedroom which was quite large. But I'm sure by most standards it was quite roomy for a Paris apartment. The kitchen was of small/adequate size and appointment and everything was in good working order. The apartment is very attractively decorated with designer fabrics, etc. Enjoyed Most: The view of the Paris rooftops and the FULL ON Eiffel Tower was breathtaking and not to be believed. The Sacre Coeur, Louvre, and Invalide were also visible. The furnished roof deck was a huge bonus as we had very warm weather for October. Enjoyed Least: Everyone comments on the small spiral staircase and there is a reason. It is tortuously narrow and twisty. It requires two hands and two feet to be firmly in place for each step. I'm not sure what an option would be given the small space, so you just learn to be very careful and live with it. Surrounding Area: It is a lovely Parisian street of mostly art galleries and lively bistros. Within a few blocks, however, you have the Metro, St. Germain Blvd, and shops. Within two blocks there is great specialty food shopping in one direction and the Seine and Quai in the other. A great location overall. Tips or Restaurants: Bring your own music source, IPod, for example. They do have a CD player and you can plug into their speakers. We loved a little bistro with a zinc bar named Allard which was a short walking distance. The Buci is always great to sit outside, your fresh seafood for cooking, and watch the scene go by. Directions: It was a pretty straight forward street address. Check In Out: Antoine was our key holder person and he was on time and very polite and helpful. However, the management office had over-scheduled him and he did not have enough time to make explanations we could have used, as there was another family waiting outside for him at another street address. He was stressed at not being able to fulfill obligations as he would have liked.

Overall: We had a very relaxing time at Piccola Torre 5 and particularly liked our private terrace overlooking the vineyards and pool. Enjoyed Most: The apartment was very comfortable and there was nothing we needed. Our living room opened on to a private balcony and we used this area whenever we were home. We loved it and it was private. Enjoyed Least: The double bed was very short. Our feet stuck out the end and the shower was very compact. Surrounding Area: I loved the little village of Panzano and we often stopped for a glass of wine in the square in the late afternoon. The local supermarket had everything we needed and they were very friendly. Nearby Events or Locales: It was quite a long walk to Panzano and mostly up hill. OK if you were very fit, but we chose to drive. Tips or Restaurants: Greve is another local town, however when we were there all the restaurants were closed so we didn't get to sample the restaurants. We did eat at a restaurant in Panzano on our first night.

Overall: The villa was very nice. Spacious and well appointed. The setting was beautiful. The villa itself was very close to a road that took some getting used to. Enjoyed Most: Location was ideal for day trips. Pool was great for the kids. Enjoyed Least: The landlady seemed to be very sensitive to our comings and goings. We had a noise complaint from her at 9:50 one night when we were playing a game of Crazy Eights with our sons age 6 and 8. Surrounding Area: Convenience to cities and towns. Tips or Restaurants: I would suggest that families with young children give this place a miss. For couples it would be a great place to stay. Just make sure not to upset the landlady.

Overall: More than we hoped for!! It sleeps 6 but we were just 2 so we felt like we were in a castle up on a mountain. Enjoyed Most: All the surroundings, the views, the pool, The outdoor wood burning stove plus a wood burning pizza oven! Enjoyed Least: That I didn't bring 4 other people to enjoy it. Surrounding Area: All the small towns in the area were like time traveling back hundreds of years ago, but with modern conveniences. No matter which way you went it was an adventure with breathtaking views. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest Town was Santa Lucia. You could walk it but the car on the winding mountain roads is the way to go. Tips or Restaurants: Every restautant is a good one as far as we found but we only went for lunches during our daytrips. Mostly we cooked out doors on an open fire. This is what I love to do. Directions: I had a GPS and was able to get to Santa Lucia where I met the Keyholder. Check In Out: Anna, Pepe, and Davide made it an easy check in and check out process.
