Overall: This was a beautiful property and location. It was amazing and an experience to be remembered forever. Enjoyed Most: The view and the rustic atmosphere were superb, and the wine-tasting/castle tour was wonderful. The caretakers and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Additionally, the location was perfect for all of our day trips. We were able to see San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra, Greve, Radda and Florence with no more than an hour's drive (at the most). Enjoyed Least: There were some annoying bugs...but this is hard to avoid in a rustic dwelling. Surrounding Area: I don't know where to start. San Casciano was an inviting and charming nearby town. We loved the restaurant Cantinetta della'Nonna that was there. But the property is not far from any of the wonderful Tuscan towns. Nearby Events or Locales: San Casciano was the town that we were familiar with. It's about 5 minutes away driving, not walkable. Tips or Restaurants: The caretakers of the estate provide an excellent booklet of information that includes recommendations for restaurants.

Overall: We had a very pleasant stay. The property is lovely, and the owners, Claudia and Rudy, are wonderful people who made us feel very welcome. The estate is charming and very peaceful. It is also a working farm. Guests are made to feel very much at home and needs are attended to immediately, but you are not pampered. Instead, you are left to wander the beautiful fields of grapes and olives, relax by the pool, or nap in the shade of a tree. Advice is readily available on everything from restaurants to grocery stores, and from doctors to pharmacies. Enjoyed Most: Beautiful and well-maintained without being fussy. Gorgeous view, a working Tuscan farm. Enjoyed Least: We had no issues with the property. Surrounding Area: Access to various Tuscan attractions, from a charming, relaxing rural home base. Nearby Events or Locales: Staggia was within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: If you enjoy exceptional cuisine, Arnolfo's in the historic village of Colle Val d'Elsa is only 10 minutes by car. Well worth it! Directions: We did not use GPS, and had no problem finding the property.

Overall: Good location. It's close to the metro and Colliseum, as well as nearby dining and shops. Enjoyed Most: Spacious; there are two bathrooms. Enjoyed Least: No internet. Editor's Note: The WiFi connection has been changed and a new modem has been installed. Feb 2013. Surrounding Area: Safe and centrally located. Check In Out: The check in went smoothly. The property manager was there within minutes of our arrival and spoke very good English.

Overall: We had a great time. The view was great! Reception was wonderful and extremely helpful, alway a smile. Service was quick and efficient. We found the villa to be a good size and to suit the needs of four people quite well. We were cool one rainy day and reception was quick to get us set up with a beautiful fire in the upstairs fireplace. Enjoyed Most: The view! The grounds, the ancient fortress and the privacy it provided. Enjoyed Least: Beds were a little hard and uncomfortable. Kitchen counter really needed to be either replaced or totally refurbished. Washing machine did not work particularly well. The area rugs were quite dusty and we had to roll them up and store them away because of allergies. Mosquitoes were bad as the grass outside was left pretty long throughout our stay so we couldn't sit out as much as we wanted. Surrounding Area: The history, beauty, and culture that is Tuscany. The food, the wine, the art and architecture, museums, restaurants. Nearby Events or Locales: San Casciano was 6 km away and had a great grocery store. Tips or Restaurants: Bring bug spray. Directions: Used a GPS

Overall: We enjoyed the property, which we shared with another couple. The set-up of the bedrooms and baths was excellent for privacy. Enjoyed Most: The outdoor deck with pool looking out over the valley was lovely. The evening sunsets and moonrise were spectacular. Enjoyed Least: The walk into town is a rather strenuous trek up and down the slope. The narrow road leading into the property requires a confident and competent driver. Fortunately, my partner and I have driven extensively in Italy and other countries. The kitchen is extremely well equipped but the knives would not cut soft butter! Surrounding Area: We used La Tempesta as a base to explore the Veneto and Dolomites. We enjoyed being able to visit many lovely towns and indulge my special passion--villas designed by Palladio.Follow the Prosecco Road and, if you are daring, drive the hairpin road through the Dolomites. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest town was Asolo. It was not really within walking distance, as I described above. There is limited parking in the village and we would have preferred to be able to walk from La Tempesta. We learned to stop at any market we found open as we traveled. There is a small green grocer and a deli that are very good in the village but with limited items and hours. Tips or Restaurants: Make sure you bring any personal needs. Toilet tissue is not supplied. We often had a nice lunch in towns we were visiting and then planned on making a light supper at the villa. Bistrot in Asolo was a good find.Renters should know ahead of time that the village is closed to traffic on Sundays as are the food stores so if you arrive, as we did, late afternoon on Saturday do not plan on getting supplies until Monday. There was a meal prepared for us for Saturday night which was very welcome. Directions: A GPS is absolutely necessary in this area.

Overall: We enjoyed the fact that we were so close to the historic center of the city. We were able to walk to almost everything we wanted to visit and when we did not walk the subway, taxi stand and bus stop were all nearby. Enjoyed Most: The location. Enjoyed Least: It was not air conditioned so the windows had to be left open allowing in insects and noise from the street. Surrounding Area: Within a block of the apartment there was a grocery store and a number of decent restaurants. It was a little noisy since we had to leave windows open all night. Nearby Events or Locales: Rome is not a small town. Directions: We were met at the airport by a car and driver and I would recommend this highly. Once at the apartment a vehicle is not only unnecessary, but a problem.

Overall: Spacious apartment, clean and appropriately furnished. The bedroom is very good and comfortable, as is the bathroom. Enjoyed Most: Peaceful, enjoyable and great advice from the personnel (directions, things to see). Easy parking. Enjoyed Least: Absence of a view (the windows are positioned high) and erratic WiFi service. We would have liked to have had an elevator or assistace with luggage. Surrounding Area: Easy acces to Firenze by bus, easy travel by car to other points of interest, such as Lucca. Nearby Events or Locales: Montagnana is 1 km away, so walking distance is OK, though I preferred taking the car to go do the shopping for the meals. Tips or Restaurants: It is a great place overall, clean, spacious and well-situated. Directions: No GPS needed, directions supplied were OK and we had a proper map.

Overall: Very positive. Enjoyed Most: All amenities, furniture and equipment are of top quality and very recent. Enjoyed Least: The house is showing some weather related deterioration. Surrounding Area: It is close to everything. Nearby Events or Locales: You can't walk to any town, because you are on top of a mountan! Tips or Restaurants: Ask the owner to have an additional set of keys, (there was only one set for 8 people... At the outset the restaurants in the old part of Cannes in le Suquet are all very good. Directions: GPS is highly needed since street names are not always clearly present.

Overall: Beautiful villa, however on a very busy street. Enjoyed Most: Location to restaurants and shopping. Enjoyed Least: Buses, cars and scooters. If you are looking for a quiet villa this is not for you. Tips or Restaurants: Moonlight Restaurant very good, also El Calpano close by.

Overall: Beautiful villa, but somewhat remote. Stairs everywhere--the pool is on the 4th level. The village of Furore is an uphill 1.5 km walk. Enjoyed Most: View and inside villa were amazing. Enjoyed Least: Stairs, and walk to bus stop and market. We had a difficult time finding the villa. Surrounding Area: Path of the Gods (Bomerano to Positano) is a beautiful hike. Nearby Events or Locales: Praiano--we were told we could not walk there but others said there was a trail. Furore is a small village, 1.5 km uphill, with a pizzeria, market, pharmacy, and bus stop. Sita bus schedule is hard to follow. We discovered a tourist bus that came 3-4x day for 2 Euros that went to Amalfi. Tips or Restaurants: A cell phone is a must. The property has no phone and there is no phone in Furore. Driving is challenging due to curvy roads. Directions: We did not have car. Our driver was hired by RentVillas.

Overall: It was just so quiet and serene--just like something out of an Italian storybook. The location is beautiful, quiet, and all by itself on a hilltop overlooking olive trees and vineyards. Just made you want to stop and take it all in and we did. Sat by the pool with wine we bought at a local vineyard, bought some cheese and crackers, and gazed at our surroundings. Highly recommend! Enjoyed Most: The location, quietness, and the wonderful service we received from Patricia, the estate manager. She was just wonderful. So friiendly to us. We were late getting there and could not find the place (we were right down the road) and she sent someone out to find us and bring us to the villa. The next morning she showed up with coffee, cream, and fresh made croissants as we did not have time to make it to the market before we got there. Certainly made our day! Enjoyed Least: Only thing was the screens would not close all the way down. Surrounding Area: The beauty of the hills and all the towns we visited. Easy driving. We were there for a week and went to Florence, Greve, stopped in Panzano for a wine tasting in the center of town. Bought a glass and tasted about 25 different wines. Next went to Castallina in Chiant and then San Donato for a incredible dinner. Went to Siena and just hung out at our villa in the yard or down by the pool. Very relaxing! Nearby Events or Locales: Romita and Tavernelle. We went several times and had dinner at local cafes and trattorias. People were so friendly and gave us great info on where to go around the area. Tips or Restaurants: The restaurant at the bottom of the hill for sure--superb! La Fattoria. Went twice. There is a Coop market in Tavarnelle where you can get everything you need. Directions: We did have a GPS--which was excellent.

Overall: We both enjoyed our stay and had a really nice time. Enjoyed Most: The view, the pool, the backyard area for relaxing. Having two bathrooms was a definite bonus even for just two people. Very close to restaurant. Enjoyed Least: The furnishings in the lounge area need refurbishing. It was not a comfortable spot for sitting. No TV. Kitchen is small. No kitchen tongs. Surrounding Area: Village atmosphere delightful. The little cats roaming around. Very friendly. Nearby Events or Locales: Piano Coreglia. Not really. Tips or Restaurants: DVD's. A good book. Kitchen tongs. Directions: Used GPS, but arriving was somewhat. Had to call the owner for final directions. Check In Out: No problem at all. Met Annmarie on arrival--she is just lovely.

Overall: Overall very good. Everything as described. Enjoyed Most: The view and the very nice furnishings. Enjoyed Least: Air conditioning did not reach master bedroom so we had to sleep in the second bedroom which had twin beds. The A/C did reach this bedroom so we were able to sleep comfortably. It was extremely hot during our stay so this was understandable. Editor's Note: There is one AC unit that is usually sufficient to cook the whole apartment. Surrounding Area: Beautiful local people. Relatively inexpensive compared to the rest of Italy. Wonderful swimming in the beautiful sea every day. Directions: The taxi was expensive. Editor's Note: The taxi from La Spezia train station is about 30 Euros.

Overall: The property was better than we expected - larger, more room and wonderfully private. Enjoyed Most: The outdoor space - eating "al fresco" every day - enjoying the fresh figs from the beautiful and grand fig tree in the middle of the backyard. Enjoyed Least: August is hot and the rooms were very hot throughout the nights. The guests on the second floor found it almost unbearable. Surrounding Area: Although Agello is not a tourist town, the villa is well located to some of the most remarkable towns, cities, food and wine in Italy! Siena was an hour away. Orvieto 70 minutes. Gubbio 80 minutes. Nearby Events or Locales: The villa is situated just outside of Agello which is an easy 10 minute walk to get cappuccino at the Circolo bar or groceries at the Alimentari Margherita. Tips or Restaurants: The kitchen was relatively well suited to cooking. We had a great experience getting our meal with the many Italians who vacation in the Lago Trasimeno area at the Hotel Faliero - Torta Al Testo, gnocchi, tagliatelle etc. Check In Out: The property manager Roberto, was wonderful. Although he spoke no English he was warm, accommodating and took very special care of us.

Overall: Quite enjoyable. Enjoyed Most: Location and very clean. Enjoyed Least: Bathroom. Would not recommend using the bath...shower was o.k. Surrounding Area: Location was ideal and the shops/atmosphere fantastic. Tips or Restaurants: Maybe extra pillows if you require more than one to sleep on. Excellent restaurants very close by.

Overall: We greatly enjoyed our stay at Villa Etrusca. A property to go back to! Enjoyed Most: A wonderful property: clean, compact, nicely decorated and wonderfully situated. The pictures are an understatement of the property's beautiful location. Tips or Restaurants: Many good restaurants within 15 minute drive. Supermarkets are more than 15 minutes away.

Overall: Overall this is a fabulous apartment, well-appointed and within walking distance to most major sites and the train station. Enjoyed Most: With its own terrace, the penthouse apartment was uniquely romantic. Enjoyed Least: It was a surprise to us that the Santa Croce Piazza (the entire piazza) was transformed into an outdoor concert venue for a 20 night stand of Italy's favorite actor, Roberto Benigni. His performance of Dante went on every night for our entire stay. This would have been nice to know. Surrounding Area: Easy access to everything we wanted to see, eat or buy.

Overall: We had a very pleasant week at villa Veronique. Enjoyed Most: Great location within a short driving distance to many local attractions. We only saw a tip of the iceberg. Villa is very private, nicely decorated in distinctive Provence style. Enjoyed Least: There was a wasp nest outside the garage. Nearby Events or Locales: The centre of the nearest small town is within 3-5 min drive. Tips or Restaurants: Many good restarunts in St. Remy, 10-15 min drive depending on the road you choose. Directions: Our GPS refused to cooperate, we called the owner and she graciously came to fetch us. We were 3 min away. With properly working GPS, finding the villa won't be problem.
