“Enjoyed Most: This home was absolutely gorgeous. We loved everything about it. Our group of 6 fit perfectly in the villa. We had plenty of room for privacy and still felt the coziness of traveling together. The attention to detail in the restoration was uncanny. The woodwork, tile, cleanliness and overall appearance made us feel like we were "true Italians." The explanations given about the home were right on. Enjoyed Least: We loved everything!!! The only thing that the owners could do is to give better instructions on how to use the washer-dryer. The machines had Dutch writing on them and it took us several guesses to operate. The dryers were especially tricky. Not a huge deal. We ended up using the clothes line! Surrounding Area: The home sits on its own secluded acreage. The views were breathtaking. Very private, but Proceno is a couple of minutes away. Landscaping around the house was beautiful. Herb garden for your taking. Property was well maintained. Nearby Events or Locales: Proceno. Would have been a good 30 minute walk. We loved the village. Everyone there knew us when we left. Wonderful market - "Roberto's". Many quaint streets to stroll down. There is even a castle and 7 churches. Tips or Restaurants: We ended up falling in love with one of the restaurants in town. Not only the restaurant but the family who owns it as well. They own the ice cream shop downstairs - where you can get cafes and croissants in the morning. Il Giardinetto is only 8 months old. Very chic in decorations. Food was CHEAP and delicious. We almost felt guilty when the bill would come. Cinzia, the manager, was fantastic. She spoke English and helped us with many of our day trips and directions. Check In Out: Caretaker spoke no English.”

“Overall: It was more beautiful than I expected and our group was most comfortable with the living arrangements on two levels. We ate as a group in the dining room and outside in the patio. I loved the swimming pool. It was cool, clean and brand new.Roberta, our contact person at the main house, was very helpful and lovely to do business with. Enjoyed Most: The house, the grounds, and the location. Enjoyed Least: We had some trouble learning how to get an outside line from the telephone but resolved the issue with several attempts. Surrounding Area: The villa's location off the superstrada made it very well situated for day trips to Florence and Pisa. Shopping was also nearby. The train station was also nearby for when we wanted to leave the cars at home. Nearby Events or Locales: Montepoli was the nearest town but we needed a car to get there. Capanne was also nearby, but again, a car was a must to get there. All in all, a car was a necessity. We had two for our group of six. Tips or Restaurants: The washer and dryer take at least an hour to complete a cycle so don't expect to do your wash, dry it, and run. We used the washer and put the clothing out on a line to dry. Locals seem to do this too. We shopped at the town supermarkets, both of which were well stocked with food and wine. We also saved by cooking at the villa. Tried to grill on some charcoal chips on the outside grill, but did not get a good enough fire going to actually grill. Seems there are no briquetts for grilling. Directions: The main gate is a very quick right turn off the roundabout and one could miss it by going too fast.”

“Enjoyed Most: We loved everything about it, the architecture is wonderful, the grounds are like heaven. I would like to think the people-staff are the best, and we are going back next year or sooner. Thank you so very much - I told all my friends about you and they are sure to contact you. “Overall: A great place to stay with a family. Our daughter made lots of friends around the pool. Enjoyed Most: It was a beautiful castle. The rooms were of magnificent proportions and were beautifully decorated with frescos and appropriate furniture. It far exceeded our expectations. Enjoyed Least: The shower in the bathroom was a little small. Surrounding Area: The surrounding countryside was beautiful and could be seen through the windows of the room. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest town is Montagnana which is within walking distance but not with a pram. There's a good pizza place there called Cafe Negro - much better value than the dinners at the castle.”

“Overall: We really had a great time and a great stay and no complaints whatsoever. I would happily stay there again, especially since it took me almost a week to find my way around Florence's maze of streets. Loved the city, the food, everything! Enjoyed Most: The kitchen was very well equipped; the apartment was in excellent condition and extremely clean; the bed was very comfortable; and the location couldn't have been better, central yet quiet -just what was needed for a great sleep after a long day of walking and museums and shopping. Enjoyed Least: The mosquitoes that seemed to show up in the evening. Surrounding Area: Everything! 5 minutes to the Duomo, 10 minutes to the Ponte Vecchio, 15 minutes to the Palazzo Pitti. And the designer clothing stores were great for window shopping. We had the best of locations. Tips or Restaurants: The staff were very helpful as was the small bundle of tourist info in the apartment. Cannot recommend the Prada outlet tour enough!. A salad spinner and larger cutting board would have been nice, but aside from that the kitchen was well equipped. We rented a car for a day to see Greve and San Gimignano, and we can't suggest strongly enough the benefits of renting from the Airport! The highway is right there and for the 30 Euros it cost us to get back and forth it was well worth the aggravation saved from trying to navigate the streets in Florence. Restaurants- Omero, Del Fagioli, and Trattoria Mario were all standouts. Directions: Really all you need in Florence is the address and a taxi, especially when it is your first time.”

“Overall: We just loved it! Enjoyed Most: It was just like being in a little bit of heaven, our own castle! The views from the property were wonderful! Enjoyed Least: The restaurant. Although, the special Tuscan dinner was great. Surrounding Area: We loved the countryside and winding roads. Nearby Events or Locales: Montagna, and yes it was within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Really stress the late check-in, especially for those like us who take the red eye flights. The castle staff was kind enough to do our room early as we were falling on our faces! Also suggest people bring things like salt and pepper, packets of sugar, and as we did some coffee to get started with.”

“Overall: Highly recommended. We had an amazing time. Enjoyed Most: Great location central in Tuscany. The owners were extremely helpful, nice and made great recommendations for day trips. Surrounding Area: Beautiful Tuscan hillside and centrally located. Only 10-minute drive to Siena. Nearby Events or Locales: Monte D'Arbia was within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Rent a car if you want to explore Tuscany.”

“Overall: This is a wonderful property with a wonderful owner and excellent staff. It is an ideal place from which to explore Tuscany. It is easy access to A11 and Florence as well as to the beach. Lucca is a great, great town and you could spend days wandering and shopping and listening to the summer concert series there. It would be hard to imagine a nicer villa - but n.b. that this is an elegant property with antiques and formal spaces, it is not a cozy farmhouse, but a serious villa. Nevertheless our young children of 8 and 6 loved it there. Enjoyed Most: Everything. Enjoyed Least: It would be helpful for the property to have a clothes dryer. Surrounding Area: Lucca is one of our favorite towns, now. The walk through the back gate into Vorno is charming and a wonderful way to walk to and from dinner at Il Bimbetto in Vorno. Nearby Events or Locales: Vorno. Yes - down a fragrant path next to a vineyard and olive orchard. Vorno has one establishment that serves as bar, restaurant and corner store and a church. Tips or Restaurants: Il Bimbetto is wonderful in Vorno - you could eat there many nights as much for the food as the walk to and from - the owner is Italian-born but raised in Ohio - many Americans seem to eat here regularly. Lucca has a number of nice restaurants that are very convenient to the villa - the best being Buca di S. Antonio. La Mescita in Pisa is a great restaurant but no English is spoken and it is hard to find. Gelateria Venezia is the best gelato in Lucca. Remember to pack toiletries and call in advance to have the refrigerator stocked and wine purchased.”

“Overall: I would and already have recommended the villa to anyone. My experience with your firm was excellent. When I return to Tuscany I intend to stay at the same location. Enjoyed Most: The ambiance, the history, and the location. Enjoyed Least: Swimming pool was not very convenient or useful. Surrounding Area: The view, convenience for grocery shopping, and convenience to the areas we were interested in touring. Nearby Events or Locales: Monteriggioni, yes Tips or Restaurants: Future guests should be aware of the presence of the large dogs, not an issue for us, but I would be surprised if it is not for some people. The restaurant at Monteriggioni was one of our best meals in Tuscany. The cooking class at the villa was a very good time for everyone.”

“Overall: We would recommend this place to anyone! Enjoyed Most: Location!.... and it lived up to it's description. It was elegant and well furnished. The itchen was adequately stocked with dishes and cooking items. (We had many meals in). We loved looking out the windows at the Duomo. And being able to walk all over the area. Enjoyed Least: The street noise. We did learn to shut windows at certain times. Surrounding Area: Being able to walk to stores, markets and places to eat. It was a very safe part of town. Nearby Events or Locales: Central Market, walking across the bridges, walking to museums and churches we wanted to see. We were close to the bus station and made several day trips on buses....very convenient and easy. Tips or Restaurants: Trattoria Belle Dona, La Spada's roast chicken and potaoes. Good food at most places.”

“Overall: Spacious, lovely, gracious. And of course, the view is fantastic! Enjoyed Most: The location. Secondarily, I liked the huge living room. Enjoyed Least: The clunky, noisy fan in the bathroom off the master bedroom. Surrounding Area: Where to begin? Stepping out into beauty every time the huge automatic front door opened. Nearby Events or Locales: Again, this little part of the world is so well known, everything I could say is in guide books. Tips or Restaurants: The Antinori Wine Bar three doors down.”

“Overall: We had a wonderful family reunion at this villa. It was perfect for us. The Villa was beautiful and easily accommodated 16 of us. It is furnished in antiques with many frescos and original oil paintings. The villa was both beautifully restored and maintained in excellent condition. The tennis court and swimming pool are in excellent condition. There is even an internet connection. The bedrooms are all a very good size, as are the baths. The food and service were excellent. Lucca is only a few minutes away and is a wonderful town with nice shops and restaurants. The Villa is also close to the autostrada which makes it easy to go to other places in the region. There are many day trips that can be made from the Villa. Enjoyed Most: Overall appearance and comfort of the Villa; the food; and the service. Enjoyed Least: Nothing. Surrounding Area: Beautiful area. Lucca is a charming town with a number of nice stores and restaurants. Nearby Events or Locales: There are a number of day trips from the Villa: hill towns, Pisa, Cinque Terra, Florence, Vinci, beach and Carrera mable fields. Tips or Restaurants: Take advantage of Guiseppi's (manager's) knowledge of Italian wine and olive oil.”

“Overall: The Cottage was a unique combination of old world charm with modern conveniences. The village of Melmerby is quiet, well located for day trips with an outstanding pub and bakery. Enjoyed Most: It was comfortable, and well located. Enjoyed Least: No complaints. Surrounding Area: The townspeople that we met at the local pub were friendly and very helpful. The food at the pub and bakery was delicious and reasonably priced. Nearby Events or Locales: Lake District, Scotland, Penrith for groceries. Tips or Restaurants: The Shepherd's Inn! Village Bakery.”
