Overall: We had a wonderful time at the Casa Fascinante. We were four couples and there was plenty of room for all of us. The owners were gracious and hospitable. Maria went out of her way to make my birthday dinner memorable, even whipping up a chocolate cake on very short notice. Federica spoke English and was always helpful. Enjoyed Most: The garden and pool area were beautiful and well-maintained. The views were gorgeous, and even though the house was surrounded by other houses, the landscaping provided privacy. Enjoyed Least: The property is advertised as having bug screens, however only half of the windows had them. The front door was also very hard to open with the key provided. Overall we thought these were minor problems. Surrounding Area: The villa was well situated for day trips. We were situated between Pisa, Florence and Siena and could reach them easily. We also took the train from Castelfiorentino into Florence several times. Nearby Events or Locales: Castelfiorentino was about 3 km. away. The train station is next to the tourist information office and you can buy tickets for the train there if they are open. Otherwise the Bar across the street sells them and there are automated ticket machines on the platforms also. There is a parking lot by the train station where we would leave our car for day trips. Tips or Restaurants: The CoOP was a supermarket chain that was in almost every town. It was handy for stocking up on toilet paper, etc. In general the kitchen was well stocked with cutting boards and even some spices. We were able to prepare meals easily. The bathroom towels were new and were very thin probably for fast drying in the high humidity. Some persons might prefer to bring their own towel, as the bathroom towels were the thickness of kitchen dish towels.

Overall: We had a great time and would highly recommend it to others. Enjoyed Most: Location, the view and the terrace. Enjoyed Least: Minor irritants were the smell from the sewer vent and the sound of the building generator. Surrounding Area: Being slightly off the beaten tourist path but still close to everything. Tips or Restaurants: The kitchen was better stocked than we expected. We made frequent trips to the Magi grocer nearby.

Overall: Wonderful!!!!! The manager gave us so much personal attention that it was better than having a concierge. The villa was awesome. and we really enjoyed being off the beaten path. Enjoyed Most: We enjoyed being in a secluded area. The courtyard was beautiful. and we felt that we were living like locals. Enjoyed Least: Nothing Surrounding Area: Quiet Nearby Events or Locales: Meglachori Tips or Restaurants: You do not need to bring anything extra - there were hairdryers, soap, shampoo, iron, toilet paper. Check In Out: The manager picked us up with a rental car and brought us back to the airport at 5am.

Overall: We had a lot of rain and cool weather. The owner was very helpful. Enjoyed Most: Historical and roomy. Enjoyed Least: No parking as a result of the renovation of the Piazza. Surrounding Area: Close to the Piazza and town. Directions: Be sure to call the owner 30 minutes before arrival.

Overall: We had a wonderful time, and the owner and staff of the villa were very helpful and attentive. They made us feel at home and welcome. Enjoyed Most: The high-level of interior design. This was by far the most "expensive looking" rental we have ever stayed in, and we constantly felt like we were in a 5-star resort. The daily maid service was much welcomed, and we were very thankful that a car rental was taken care of prior to our arrival and waiting for us. Enjoyed Least: We couldn't figure out if you could plug the drain in the bathroom in the upstairs unit. Surrounding Area: The village we stayed in was absolutely beautiful. The owners of the villa also own a restaurant at the end of the road, and we were often down there eating and visiting with the other employees. Because they all worked together, if something was wrong with the house, we could just tell anybody down there and they were always eager and willing to help. Nearby Events or Locales: We stayed in a small town, Megalochori. Picture perfect! Tips or Restaurants: This villa came fully stocked, so in the end we didn't need to bring the majority of the kitchen supplies that Rentvillas.com recommended in their orientation packet. Directions: The owner arranged for pick-up to and from the port, so they took all the worry out of arrival.

Overall: Overall, we loved living in this area of Rome. Enjoyed Most: The location on this pedestrian street was terrific. We could walk out the door and find everything we needed within 5 minutes. Enjoyed Least: The noise at night particularly on the weekend was loud. Earplugs helped somewhat, but be prepared. This apartment faces the street and is on the second floor. The dryer took forever and air drying is best. Tips or Restaurants: Trastevere area has many trattorias and many are reasonably priced even with the Euro sticker shock.

Overall: The villa is lovely and Carmelo is a gracious host. His grounds are beautiful and the pool is very nice. The location is good--not far from Taormina or the highway. Enjoyed Most: The grounds were meticulously cared for by the gardener and the owner. It was also next door to one of the better, lesser known, restaurants in that area. The villa is well maintained and has all the amenitites. Enjoyed Least: There is a blind curve in front of the villa leading to the intersection and many of the cars honked so that others would know they were coming. Editor's Note: See note above. Surrounding Area: The villa is in a quiet area near Graniti. Across the road is a sheep farm and the mountain views were lovely. It was away from the tourist areas but close enough to get there in 15-20 minutes. Nearby Events or Locales: Gaggi is the nearest small town. It is probably about 2-3 km--walkable but a dangerous road to walk on. We needed a car for Sicily to get to the store and local restaurants as well as other places in Sicily. Tips or Restaurants: I don't remember the name of the restaurant next door but it is a very short walk and the food was very good. Usually, we were by ourselves and the owner was an enjoyable fellow. No menus but great food. La Zagara in Gaggi was also pretty good and reasonable.

Overall: The apartment was great. It was bigger than a hotel room and having the kitchen let us cut some of our food expenses by eating in after shopping at the nearby grocery. Even though our flight was 5 hours late, our greeter was cheerful and helpful. This is our second Rentvillas.com experience and I would definitely choose them over other rental groups because I trust them. Enjoyed Most: It was a great location and having an apartment made us much more comfortable than having a hotel. We cut costs by eating meals "at home" and it really felt like home. Enjoyed Least: There was a slight smell, so we had to open the window when we arrived. Small things were lacking - no clock no alarm, no soap dish in shower, no bottle opener. I would recommend owners move into their apartments for a couple days to test what the experience would be like and fill in what is missing. Surrounding Area: The location was great, filled with bars, cafe, shopping, and centrally located to the Louvre, Tuileries, etc. Tips or Restaurants: Climbing the stairs will allow you to eat another croissant!

Overall: We arrived by train and walked through the main piazza, rumbling our bags along behind us. We were very impressed with the property and its location in relation to the train station and the Cinque Terre, our main reason for choosing this location. Enjoyed Most: It was well appointed, with plenty of plates, glasses and cutlery, nice accommodation, with 3 bathrooms and living areas separate from the bedrooms, and lots of terraces to see the view. All of the bedrooms had views, and you could hear the waves lying in bed at night. Enjoyed Least: The heating was on some automatic system. We had a short blackout one day which interfered with the system, and we could not figure out how to get it back on properly. I spent a couple of nights being uncomfortably cold, although the rest of my family didn't feel it as I did. Surrounding Area: The town itself was pretty, and there were quite a few places to explore. In warmer weather, we would have made more use of the beach. We predominantly chose the place for its close access to the Cinque Terre, which we really loved. Nearby Events or Locales: The towns are coastal and separated by steep hills. I believe there are walks, but we didn't attempt them. There are regular trains connecting all the towns, and winding roads. The closest Cinque Terre town was 2 stops and about 10 minutes on the train. Tips or Restaurants: The Casa was well appointed and there are 2 markets in Bonassola where you can get almost anything you need. There are also several Foccacieras, handy for satisfying lunches, and bread to go with dinner. We ate twice at the restaurant at the northern end of the piazza next to the church. It was good, local food, and the chef-owner spent time with us trying to explain the dishes on the menu. Check In Out: A wonderful housekeeper met us, showed us around, and returned later that night to cook a fantastic enormous meal. She had a little English, and we managed to communicate. Our children really liked her, too.

Overall: We had a great time! Enjoyed Most: The villa was beautiful and was equipped with everything we needed. Enjoyed Least: We were asked to pay for wood after we were originally told we could use it and they would bring more, although in the end, we were not required to pay. Surrounding Area: The restaurant that was located within 50M of the villa was fantastic meal, although it was a little more expensive than we were use too. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town of Montespertoli is 6 km away; therefore anyone renting the villa will need a vehicle. Tips or Restaurants: You definitely need to have a car at this property. Check In Out: The owners were very accommodating as we checked in on Sunday.

Overall: The property was just as expected - a wonderful, authentically Tuscan, peaceful retreat with a fantastic location. Enjoyed Most: The location in the hills of Tuscany, and close to many of the nicest parts - villages of the Sienese Crete area. Enjoyed Least: The 2 bedrooms have a very thin wall between them - so there is not much privacy at all. Surrounding Area: Very peaceful, rural, unspoilt and not too touristed. Nearby Events or Locales: Castelmuzio was not a very viable walk - we had planned to walk there each day, but involved a lot of uphill walking with not too much good scenery to compensate. Tips or Restaurants: It is ideal for a family with 2 children - but I wouldn't go as 2 couples, as we did. There is a good restaurant right near the turnoff to the villa off the main road leading through Castelmuzio. Directions: A signposted name at the villa would be helpful, since we only knew we had arrived by recognising it from photos on your website.

Overall: We had a very good time in this property. Enjoyed Most: The location was outstanding as all the major sites were within easy, short walking distance. Enjoyed Least: The lofts took a little getting used to. Surrounding Area: The property is behind the Savoy and Piazza de Republica so it was easy to find and centrally located. Nearby Events or Locales: The property is in the heart of Florence. Tips or Restaurants: If you have small children the lofts could be dangerous.

Overall: The person who met us was wonderful, and her boyfriend carried our big bag up the stairs. Enjoyed Most: The view from the terrace. Enjoyed Least: 104 Steps. Surrounding Area: Sorrento was awesome Tips or Restaurants: Bring CDs, cards, or board games. The TV is in Italian

Overall: We would recommend it to anyone. It is a beautiful place. Very comfortable. Away from the tourist trap of Fira, but close enough to be able to drive most places within a few minutes. Enjoyed Most: It was very private, clean and spacious. Enjoyed Least: Not within walking distance to the beach. Surrounding Area: It was quaint and charming. We were surrounded by the authentic Greek culture. It wasn't commercial. Lots of nice places to eat within walking distance. Nearby Events or Locales: Most places required driving to, although you could walk. We walked to Fira one day and it took us about 45 minutes. During the busy summer months it would probably be too hot to walk. There was enough accessible in the town where we stayed, so we were content. Tips or Restaurants: Renters have an option to request an automatic car if they are not comfortable driving manual. We didn't know that and we would have chosen automatic if we had known. I would say not to over-pack. It becomes a burden.Metaxumus is a local restaurant only known to the local people. It is a gem. All of the restaurants in Megalochori village were great. Directions: We were taken to the property by a representative of the property, so we had no problems. In fact, he was so nice - he even gave my husband a crash-course in driving a manual car. Check In Out: Our key-holder, Ester, was kind and sweet. She made us feel very comfortable and welcome.

Overall: The owners-hosts were wonderful and VERY helpful with everything!!!!!! Enjoyed Most: I think my favorite part of our villa was our beautiful veranda where the view and the setting were so relaxing. Enjoyed Least: If I had to say something, it would be the size of the kitchen, only because we enjoy doing our own cooking. Surrounding Area: San Gimignano was beautiful and Siena and Florence were just a short drive away. Nearby Events or Locales: San Gimignano was the closest town and you could definitely walk it with comfortable shoes. Tips or Restaurants: Remember to do your grocery shopping before you check in on Saturday as Pam does close at 8:00pm and is also closed Sunday. I had compiled a list of ingredients from other comments on your website which made it nice and simple so we could enjoy our first meal in Tuscany. Check In Out: The owners-hosts couldn't have been more welcoming.

Overall: San Barberino is a great place to base Tuscany trips from and the villa is a comfortable, convenient home to come back to at the end of the day. We were so busy during the days that we didn't really have time to use the pool but I managed to squeeze in a quick dip one night after everyone else was in bed. It's down the hill from the house but the path and pool were well lighted. The air was cool so I didn't linger. On a sunny August day, I can imagine that was the place to be after a day of sightseeing. Enjoyed Most: Location, location, location. With a car we were less than half an hour from Volterra, San Gimignano, Colle di Val d'Elsa, Siena, and Florence (actually 40 minutes). Greve and all the "in Chianti" towns were a leisurely hour drive over the mountain. And the manager was wonderful, helping us arrange reservations to dinner and museums, giving us a copy of the bus schedule to Florence - very convenient - and telling us about the Internet access in the town library. Enjoyed Least: The back of the house, with 2 bedrooms and the kitchen, is right on the main road through town, so road noise was occasionally noticed, though usually not a problem. Waking up to the sound of people driving to work is not an unpleasant way to begin the day if you're on vacation yourself. At night, I was too tired from the day's travels to notice any road noise. The master bedroom - the one with the views off to the Tuscan sunset - had no problems with the road noise. Surrounding Area: Do take the manager up on the wine tasting offer. The owners of the villa also have a large vineyard and winery about 2 km outside San Barberino and they enjoy showing off the results of their life's labors. The day we went was also the first day of the harvest with the full moon the night before! and we passed the stems and skins of the first crush as we entered. They'd prepared a wonderful plate of cinghiale salumi, assorted peccorino cheeses, and Tuscan breads to accompany the first-rate wines that they served. The wines included a 2004 Chianti Classico and a 100 Sangiovese Super Tuscan - both wonderful wines. Nearby Events or Locales: You are in San Barberino and can walk up the hill to the small grocery store in 2 minutes, the wonderful Campenillino restaurant in 3 minutes, and the Bar on the other side of the hill in just 5 minutes. Because San Barberino is perched atop a ridge, you have wonderful glimpses of the the surrounding Tuscan landscapes as you walk through the old town. Tavarnelle is a short 2 km drive if you need the greater selection of the COOP grocery or want to try out another local restaurant Tips or Restaurants: The library is just up the hill from the villa, a 2 minute walk, and that's where you can get on the internet. Unfortunately, it's only open 4 hours each day since the librarian spends the other 4 hours at the library in Tavarnelle. The hours alternate from morning to afternoon. The kitchen is pretty well equipped - about the only thing we needed to bring was a cutting board.

Overall: Overall, a beautiful place. Enjoyed Most: The home is beautiful, spacious and well cared for and maintained. The patio and garden are wonderful. Enjoyed Least: Barking dogs. Surrounding Area: Montalcino is a beautiful mountain-top city and the environs are beautiful. We were there during the harvest and did a lot of wine tasting. Siena is nearby. Tips or Restaurants: Many great restaurants with lots of opportunities for wine tasting. Bring ear plugs. Check In Out: The woman who checked us in didn't know a word of english, so it was sign language all the way.

Overall: Located in the pre-medieval part of Cortona. Beautifully restored. Enjoyed Most: The owner was most helpful, and his mother provided a wonderful meal for us upon our arrival. Ivan also brought us fresh vegetables from his farm, and his mother gave is a delicious Tiramisu dessert. Enjoyed Least: My wife and I are 83, and the walk down to the shops and back is on a 45 degree angle cobblestone street. That is tough, especially coming back up. So any future renters should be in tip-top shape. Tips or Restaurants: We drove to Assisi, took the ferry to Isola Maggiore on Lago Trasimeno, drove to Siena and Montepulciano, to taste the Vino Nobile - excellent! We definitely should have had a cell phone! As far as restaurants are concerned, we recommend the "Osteria Del Teatro."

Overall: We had a superb week with everyone mixing marvellously. Enjoyed Most: The situation is magnificent. The opportunity to either do things cycling, tennis, table tennis, swim or just relax. Enjoyed Least: The cook top was difficult. We ate in most of the time and did overcome it but the gas part of it is difficult. Also, it is sad that the 3 upper bedrooms have a shower room between 3 bedrooms. You need to watch the plumbing as taps can come off in your hand. Surrounding Area: The 2 rivers, the Loire and the Vienne are really nice. The towns of Chinon and Saumur are also lovely to walk around. Nearby Events or Locales: There is Beamont but it is not really a town. The nearest town is Chinon which is 10 minutes by car. Tips or Restaurants: There are many restaurants and French food is justifiably regarded as the best. The supermarkets are well stocked and cover most things you need.

Overall: This is an excellent rental property with a great staff and a most convenient location for most places in Northern Tuscany including Siena and Florence. Enjoyed Most: Spectacular view, convenient location, fairly easy to get to, staff was excellent, dinner on the property was excellent, also. Enjoyed Least: Stairs were a chore after a while, lighting was poor, tiny tiny shower, lack of towels was a problem. Surrounding Area: Loved San Gimignano being five minutes away. Loved the Pam Market. Also, it's Tuscany and it's beautiful and very easy to enjoy. Tips or Restaurants: Bring coffee if you are Americano, pool towels, book light if you like to read at night. We found the bug spray unnecessary. You should try two restaurants in San Gimignano, Il Pino and Il Castello, don't eat in Poggibonsi. We had the worst pizza in our lives there. How sad is that? Directions: Just follow the signs. Check In Out: They would not allow you to carry your bags - Thank God - and I could not tip them for it; they flat out refused to accept a tip.
