Overall: We had an amazing time. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Enjoyed Most: The outdoor area and the peace and tranquility. Enjoyed Least: The distance from town - too far to walk back up hill. Surrounding Area: Plenty of visits to nearby towns by train and bus. Nearby Events or Locales: Montecatini Terme. Yes, you could walk if you were fit - it is about three kilometres to town. Too uphill to walk back for us, though. Tips or Restaurants: The restaurant through the rear gate was outstanding! Check In Out: No all went very smoothly. Stefano was terrific.

Overall: We had a wonderful time in Santorini and at the Villa Giada. The villa is very nice and it was very comfortable. Interesting concept--two cave houses. Santorini white wines are incredible!!! Enjoyed Most: The privacy, the views, the location, the size, and having four bathrooms for the four of us. The chef we hired for two nights to prepare dinners for us at the villa. Enjoyed Least: The fact that we were told on arrival that we could not put toilet tissue in the toilets. Had we been told about this prior to booking, we might not have booked this villa, especially at the price. Editor's Note: Septic and sewage treatment systems are antiquated throughout the Greek islands and pipes are clog-prone and narrow. As a result, it is common practice to dispose of toilet paper in the provided receptacle. Surrounding Area: Our location in relation to Imervogili and Thera. The several restaurants within walking distance the shops. The views of the general area were fantastic. We rented a car for the week and used it daily to explore the island and have lunch at the many great restaurants around the island. Nearby Events or Locales: Imervogili. The villa was on a cliff in the town. Thera was also within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Rent a car and pick any restaurant, especially one with seafood fresh daily. Do wine tastings at several wineries. The sunsets are amazing. Directions: Rent a car thru the onsite property manager and they will pick you up at the airport and take you back. They have an arrangement with a car rental agency that is literally two minutes from the house. We parked our car at the car rental agency when not using it. Check In Out: The process was fine. No problems.

Overall: It was a wonderful villa set in the middle of the vineyard with olive trees surrounding the pool. The wine produced on the estate was also very good and you could purchase it from the stocked cabinet. Enjoyed Most: The setting. We would sit out on the deck and just absorb the overall beauty. It was very peaceful at night and there was not a sound until day break when the rooster would welcome the new day. Surrounding Area: The villa has a great location. One of the small, nearby towns is Greve in Chianti and others were only 15 minutes away by car. Then, within an hour, we visited the towns of Siena, San Gimignano, and Florence. Two hours away is the city of Bologna which is worth the trip! Nearby Events or Locales: Leonardo, the caretaker of the villa, made reservations for us our first night when we arrived in a general store. We were seated down in the the basement and we weren't quite sure what to expect but the local meal they prepared was great! Tips or Restaurants: GPS, GPS, GPS. Directions: Thank God we had the GPS. We had to enter the property's coordinates to find it and the turn is a sharp one off the road, but its worth the trip! Check In Out: That was fine; we left a day early and Leonardo was very accommodating.

Overall: The villa was everything we could have hoped - there was plenty of room, it was amply appointed, and the views could not have been more spectacular. Enjoyed Most: Casa Marlia is located just far enough away from the larger cities of Tuscany to give you a real sense of being able to "get away from it all" - but close enough to access many of the big draws of the region. The best thing about Casa Marlia is the spectacular views - the beautiful grounds immediately surrounding the property, to the town of Lucca below, and the amazing Tuscan hillsides. Enjoyed Least: There was an odor in the kitchen area - strong enough to be noticeable but not strong enough to ruin the overall experience. Editor's Note: The housekeeper did an end-of-season check on the reported odor in the kitchen. No odor was detected, and no further mention of it was made by subsequent autumn visitors to the property. November, 2015. Surrounding Area: Casa Marlia is so accessible to so many things - the town of Lucca (which was truly amazing), Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terre, and all of Tuscany. Our best day was spent driving higher into the hills and seeing the tiny villages where everyday life happens - such an authentic taste of Tuscany! We literally bumped into a small vineyard, stopped and asked if we could look around. The owners very graciously asked us into their tasting room (completely without any reservation) and provided a taste of their wonderful wines. In their restaurant next door, there was a large group who was there for a cooking class. Next trip I will be signing up for that class! Nearby Events or Locales: Ciciana - if you are very brave you could walk here, but not advisable on the very small and winding roads. There was one trattoria there - which serves a mean Pizza Margherita! Tips or Restaurants: If it's possible in your timing or your budget, take advantage of having a chef come to the villa. I think this was the best evening we spent - and we learned so much. We'll be recreating our meal in a few weeks here at home. Lina and Giada were very knowledgeable, and so wonderful. The pictures of Lina and my husband dancing to the music of Andrea Bocelli bring back priceless memories. Directions: The written directions were pretty difficult to follow - some of the distances were off. We did use a GPS, but the coordinates we were given were not correct, either. In the end we found it and were happy to be there. Check In Out: Guido and Gabriella were both fantastic. Very knowledgeable the property and the area. They were prompt and courteous - very easy process.

Overall: Fantastic, right in the heart of the Amalfi Coast without being in the middle of the tourist crowded areas of Positano and Amalfi. Enjoyed Most: Each bedroom has a bathroom en-suite. Right across the road from the beach. Rooftop private terrace area. Parking a block away underground. At least 6 restaurants within a few blocks. Supermarket next door. Local bus transit in front of Villa. Local ferry a few block away. Didn't need our car. Enjoyed Least: Very small kitchen only suitable for preparing breakfast and lunch. Surrounding Area: Visited Amalfi and Positano by boat and bus. Toured the coast by boat. Nearby Events or Locales: Villa is in the heart of Maiori, a small town with the best beach on the Amalfi--everything is in walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: The Torre Normande Restaurant although very expensive is a must visit. All restaurants were very good. Directions: Used a GPS Check In Out: Very accommodating, very smooth.

Overall: This was the most stunning place we have ever stayed. The property was immaculate, the office staff were kind and professional - we are travelers and have stayed in many nice places around the world but this was definitely the best. Enjoyed Most: The views, the pool, the fully appointed kitchen and the privacy. Enjoyed Least: Water in the pool was a bit cool but we were still able to enjoy it. Surrounding Area: The stunning views! Nearby Events or Locales: Javea - not walkable--easy drive, though. Tips or Restaurants: There is a large supermarket after the Aldi, which is wonderful. Directions: We used GPS and followed directions to rental office. Check In Out: Everything was painless - couldn't be better!

Overall: We truly enjoyed our stay at Villa Flora! The owner was gracious and quickly fixed the few minor plumbing problems we noticed when we checked in. The view was fabulous, the outdoor area was splendid, and we enjoyed our ocean access too! All the rooms were comfortable and the décor was amazing! Enjoyed Most: I enjoyed the views, the gardens (lemons, limes, figs, table grapes), and the Mediterranean décor, tile floors, lots of shells in glass cases, and white and blue walls. The pool and the ocean access were wonderful too! Enjoyed Least: The neighbors were noisy on several nights, once until 11:20 PM. There's not much that can be done about that though. Surrounding Area: We enjoyed the neighborhood grocery store, the sea walk to several restaurants, and the proximity to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast! Nearby Events or Locales: Masse Lubrense is the nearest small town. We were able to walk to the harbor area of Masse Lubrense where there were several seaside restaurants. Tips or Restaurants: We had one meal catered by the cooks while we were staying at the Villa Flora. It was excellent, one of the best meals we had the whole 3 weeks we were in Italy!!! It was also an economical option, quite a bit less than we were spending at restaurants. I would recommend that future renters consider having these two ladies cook at least two or 3 meals. It's not every day you can eat in your swimsuit under a beautifully draped portico table with friends or family! The restaurant '... Michele' was also very good with great views of the marina and the ocean. Directions: The directions were good. I would add that the last turnoff is near a large pine tree - and that the road down to the villa is very narrow. Tell drivers to proceed with caution between the parked cars and the rock walls - and to keep a lookout for the convex mirrors which can warn you of oncoming traffic around the hairpin curves in the access road. We did have a GPS which was helpful. Check In Out: Check in and check out was very smooth.

Overall: We loved Villa Maggiore. The beautiful home was a perfect setting for a family and friends reunion. We spent most of our time sitting out on the back porch catching up and taking in the incredible view. It could not have been a better choice for all of us. Enjoyed Most: One of my favorite parts of the house was the incredible kitchen that was so well stocked. The house felt very spacious and bright with so many places to sit and take in the views. Enjoyed Least: Driving back and forth to town. Surrounding Area: I loved visiting the Borromean Islands, incredibly beautiful and magical. The area was very peaceful and it was easy to travel from town to town. We also went to visit Lake Orta for the day and visited Isola San Giulio. I traveled all over Italy after visiting this area and some of these islands were my best memories. Nearby Events or Locales: Meina was the closest town but the hill was very steep coming back up to the villa from town so it is walking distance but a strenuous one. We chose to drive most of the time. Tips or Restaurants: I loved the small grocery store in Meina. It had most of what we needed and a great selection of cheeses and meats. The bakery across from it was very yummy too. The kitchen was well equipped so it was a joy to cook there. Directions: We used our GPS quite a bit because the streets can be tricky there until you get used to lay of the land. Check In Out: The owners met us upon arrival and were so helpful in seeing that we got settled and introduced to the property. You could tell that they take much pride and care of their property and making sure that their visitors are satisfied. At check out the owner met us at the house to gather keys and collect cleaning fees for cleaning service. I ended up forgetting an item at the villa and the owners sent it to me at my next stop in Italy. We were so impressed with the care and quality of our stay and services.

Overall: The villa was both majestic and comfortable. Enjoyed Most: The villa was beautiful, with many spaces that allowed for conviviality and connection without feeling crowded or secluded. The pool was refreshing salt water and the grounds were well laid out. There is a large outdoor dining table with tent and netting. The view from the tower was quite special. Enjoyed Least: The internet took a few days to function. We found the tile floors in the pool house to be slippery. Surrounding Area: The lake is within walking distance, where there is a park and little beach. There was a Lido with outdoor auditorium and they had a concert one night. The town is not touristic. There's a good, local pizzeria, market, wine store and Moto Guzzi museum within walking distance. The train station is only 1.5 blocks away. Nearby Events or Locales: The Villa is located in Mandello del Lario. Tips or Restaurants: We ate at an excellent restaurant on the waterfront in Varenna, the cutest nearby town (20 min by car). httpwww.varenna.netITARistorante-LaVista.phpThen went for a walk along the gorgeous waterfront. Check In Out: The gracious owner had to come back several times to fix the Internet and the chef was given my number but not told the country code so could not call when he arrived an hour late (though still I highly recommend Diego, our chef booked through RentVillas - the food was delicious and prepared in advance so we could eat one time). Check-in involved sending my friends to call several phone numbers to track down someone to meet at a square in order to get the keys rather than just meeting at the villa. Check out was also a little confusing as I had to depart before the 10 AM check out time and had to leave it to my guests to coordinate payment for the extras.

Overall: We loved this house. We thought it was the best vacation home we had ever rented. It had plenty of both indoor and outdoor space, so we could spread out and relax. The kitchen was very well appointed and had everything we needed. There were many outdoor eating areas, and we enjoyed the variety. We felt secure being behind double gates and had completely private, too. We were there with our adult children, and it was nice having a private suite off the main house where we could enjoy some privacy. Enjoyed Most: The cabana area beside the pool. Enjoyed Least: The orientation of the house such that the outdoor areas are ablaze with sun in the afternoon. We only used these areas in the mornings and evenings because of this. Also, we found the beds a bit firm. Surrounding Area: Very good grocery store in Chateaurenard, with everything we needed. Also a nice bakery. Nearby Events or Locales: Chateaurenard--no, it is too far to walk. Tips or Restaurants: This house has everything you need, even pool towels. We didn't go to restaurants nearby; only when we were out on day trips. Directions: We got to the property by GPS, but we couldn't identify it as there were no numbers on the gate. Someone out on the street told us that was the place. Check In Out: Our voucher indicated that we should call Yvonne prior to arrival, but we couldn't get through to her. Not sure if our phones weren't working or if she didn't answer. Sylvie, the sister of the owner, happened to come by and let us in. Editor's Note: The property manager confirms that the information on the voucher is correct. Please call Yvonne at the number indicated prior to arrival. October, 2015.

Overall: The property exceeded my expectations, the house was loved! The sheets were beautiful, the plates and wine glass all lovely, making it even more of a pleasure to use. The owner left us a welcome basket, essentials for our first night - pasta, salt and pepper, garlic tomatoes and wine! Enjoyed Most: The location was perfect for our family gathering, everyone had beautiful rooms - the outdoor space and gardens were beautifully kept. The kitchen was great - we cooked most meals at night, sourcing fabulous ingredients from the nearby villages and towns. Surrounding Area: The village Annuniazata was just beautiful: 1 restaurant, a small shop for essentials, a lovely cul-de-sac were people gathered for sunset drinks taking in the magnificent view. Nearby Events or Locales: We were part of a village - easy! The next and bigger town was a 5 -10 minute drive Tips or Restaurants: I would always recommend a to hire a car. The beaches are to be explored and all a drive away. Directions: We had a GPS but it didn't recognize the name of the street given as the address. Luckily the village was small and it was easy to spot. Check In Out: Eva, our key holder was fabulous. Always available through our week if we had any questions or bookings to make.

Overall: Very positive! Lovely home, great weather, with a bit of air conditioning available if it got extra hot. Quiet and peaceful, with good basic swimming pool. All basic amenities within an easy walk. Lovely trails to hike/run nearby. Enjoyed Most: Location was a very good thing about the property. Enjoyed Least: A few very small things: door latches were "quaint" but rather noisy to operate, annoying when others are sleeping. Knives were a bit dull... Hedge near the pool was a bit too tall, putting too much of the pool in the shade. But you can tell this is very nit-picky stuff. Surrounding Area: Wilderness trails on foot. We walked to Gordes twice, ran to Langes, many other places. Drove to many (5? could have done 10?) lovely villages for markets or dinner. Nearby Events or Locales: We were basically right in Cabriere d'Avignon, a small town, 100 meters from groceries and butcher and baker. Lagnes was another walkable small town, but we only walked ran there for exercise, not for purchases. Tips or Restaurants: Lovely restaurant in Isle sur la Sorgue called Le Vivier ("the pool"). In an odd location from the entry, but right on the river water. We ate there twice. Directions: Finding the property is easy. Finding the owner's place (which is where we were told to go first) was slightly harder. Understanding the one way streets is a bit tricky the first day. Check In Out: M. Truc doesn't speak much (or any?) English (which was okay as we have enough French) but he is a delightful man, very helpful. All the villagers are pretty friendly. There is a parking area in the property, but it's gated and rather tight, even with a small car, and a nuisance to use on regular basis. More parking clarity would be useful.

Overall: It was a magical place, far better than we all expected. The property was beautifully appointed and met all of our needs and then some. The manager, the house cleaner and the local cooks who were obtained for us were all warm and friendly and very helpful. Enjoyed Most: The location was remote and private with excellent views. The villa was spacious for us and had a wonderful feeling about it. Everyone was very comfortable and happy in it. Surrounding Area: The charm of the area, the beauty of the nature. Nearby Events or Locales: Santa Maria Annunziata was the "town" but it really only consisted of a grocery store and a first class restaurant (which was great by us!) Massa Lubrense was the next town and it was a longer walk so we always drove to it. Tips or Restaurants: La Torre restaurant is basically next door and it is an excellent one. We ate there several times. There were two good restaurants in the square of Massa Lubrense and several others we tried very nearby. Directions: The directions were great up until finding the villa itself. We were three separate cars arriving at different times and each of us circled around and around until we found it. One of us had GPS but still had trouble finding it. Of course, once we all found it, we never had trouble again!

Overall: Our overall experience was very positive. We had a great time whether we were relaxing by the villa or exploring a city or town on a day trip. The villa offers plenty of space for a group to relax and enjoy either quiet time, boisterous togetherness, or both! Enjoyed Most: The views, the sunsets, the quiet privacy, and the opportunity to live as an Italian for two weeks. Enjoyed Least: The WiFi was out the entire time we were there. Editor's Note: The WiFi was unavailable due to a storm; full service was restored the week following. The owner reimbursed 100 Euros for the inconvenience. Surrounding Area: The people, the history, the food, the wine, the scenery. Nearby Events or Locales: Rufina. It was not within walking distance at all. Tips or Restaurants: There is a bottega on Monte Giovi that is phenomenal for the food and the views. The road up, however, is very rough and rugged, but if you take it slowly, it is well worth the drive for the experience! Many of the things that others suggested bringing were provided (toilet paper, dish soap, etc.). I might suggest beach towels unless you want to pay 7 Euros per towel. Towels are not included. Directions: We did use a GPS but only for help getting out of Florence from the airport since there was a lot of traffic. Check In Out: Sonia at reception is awesome! She is very pleasant and eager to help. We read that the deposit had to be in cash but they took a credit card for our deposit.

Overall: Overall, we enjoyed staying at Guelfo. Enjoyed Most: It is in a great location. We LOVED eating at the little restaurant right across the street called Francesco Vini. There was plenty of room in the master bedroom and we were able to keep it nice and cool. Enjoyed Least: The summer heat in Florence was at an all-time high, so we found it difficult to adequately cool down the apartment. The washer/dryer in the property was very difficult to figure out how to operate. The English instructions were quite inadequate. Also, we really needed a fan for each bedroom upstairs (only one fan was provided). The guests that did not have a fan were quite uncomfortable at night. There are nice big windows in the living room, but unfortunately, there really is only a view down to the street below. Surrounding Area: We most enjoyed the restaurant across the street called Francesco Vini. Had dinner there numerous times. The property is in easy walking distance to many places in central Florence. Tips or Restaurants: As I said before, be sure to try the restaurant across the street called Francesco Vini. They provide bath towels, but no wash cloths, so bring them if you want. We had to buy extra toilet paper. Directions: Take a taxi...don't even try to find the place on your own!!! Check In Out: Check in/Check out was very simple. The owner was so nice and accommodating for our early check in.

Overall: We had a fantastic time at Villa Ponte. It was everything we hoped it would be. So picturesque, great accommodations, gracious host, food was amazing, what more could we ask for? Enjoyed Most: Gianluca was a fantastic host. There when you needed him and invisible when you didn't. Enjoyed Least: A little hard to find but not much to pick on. Surrounding Area: We loved taking small day trips to the neighboring towns of Pienza, Cortona and Montepulciano to name a few. Nearby Events or Locales: Betolle. No it was a short 5 min drive away. Tips or Restaurants: Bring your bathing suits. We found one neat restaurant in Betolle called Walter's. Directions: Use the GPS coordinates to find it. Gianluca actually met us and helped us drive to the property. Check In Out: Very easy and well understood.

Overall: Best vacation I ever had. Enjoyed Most: Everything. See above. Particularly the outdoor eating terrace for meals--beautiful sunsets, too, from there. Also you can walk down a hill to swim - bit of a hike back up but it's good exercise. Also could walk to a nearby marina to rent boats. Surrounding Area: The sea. Easy to go out on a boat. Also easy access to Pompeii, which is a must-see. Nearby Events or Locales: Massa Lubrense. Yes, it's within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: In summer only need shorts and bathing suits. As for restaurants, get advice from Carmine, the property manager. He's AMAZING and knows everything. Also a great chef and will prepare meals at the villa. Directions: VERY difficult to find this villa alone the first time. Don't try. Let Carmine show the way. Check In Out: Easy and comfortable.

Overall: This trip was wonderful. The villa was really spacious, we were eight adults. Located just a few miles outside of town, it was really easy to get anywhere we wanted to go. The town of Xabia was beautiful and of course the Mediterranean was perfect. This property fit our needs perfectly. Enjoyed Most: We spent most of our time at the villa on the veranda. We started everyday out there for breakfast and ended our evenings with a glass of wine, with just the pool lights on. Very relaxing. Enjoyed Least: The pool was out of commission for most of our week. We missed spending time in the water. There was no guest book on site. We have always found that helpful in getting to know the quirks of the individual villa, re how to turn the gas on, etc. Surrounding Area: The scenery was beautiful. There were beautiful beaches, both sandy and rocky. People were very friendly and helpful, even though our Spanish was somewhat limited. Nearby Events or Locales: We were just a few miles outside the town of Xabia (Javea). The villa was located on a steep hill, not really an area for walking. Tips or Restaurants: We didn't realize you could rent fans from the local villa rental agency. We bought fans and left them there. They may still be there. They probably also offer umbrellas for by the pool, which gets a lot of sun. We ate out every night and the food was always wonderful. Our favorite restaurants were closer to the marina. It was a more relaxed atmosphere than the main strip, L'Arendel. There was a great marketplace in the old town every Thursday. The nearby town of Altea is definitely worth a trip. More beautiful views and delicious food. Directions: The directions to get to the villa were very easy to follow. We did use GPS to get around town and to return to the villa at night. Highly recommend this. At night it's easy to miss the turn into the neighborhood. Check In Out: Everyone we worked with was wonderful. I do wish we'd been told at check-in that renting fans and umbrellas was possible. They assumed we knew. It's possible this is common practice here, but we didn't know this.
