“There are mixed reviews about this company, and I wouldn't have ordered if I'd read them first. I received an email confirming my order (over Ā£70) and saying I would receive another when the wool was dispatched. My account showed the debit the following day. After a week I sent a polite email, saying that I understood that the pandemic might well be causing problems but asking for an update. Three phone-calls went unanswered. A week later, I managed to speak to Claire, who immediately said the wool was out of stock in the colours I'd ordered, and offered to refund my payment. The two stars is just to reflect the fact that the refund appeared in my account the following day, but the lack of communication, a website incapable of indicating 'out of stock' and the willingness to immediately accept payment even though the lack of stock must surely have been known is very poor business practice.”
“I will never purchase from this company again. Ordered 10 x 50gm balls of Sirdar Snuggly 3ply to crochet a baby shawl, pattern states 9 x 50gm balls. I have made this shawl 3 times previously and 9 balls have always been sufficient. Not so on this occasion, I was approaching the end of the 9th ball with still lots to do so I weighed the 10th unused ball. 45 gms. I checked the item I was making in pink, with a previous one in white, no difference in size so my tension was fine. I found some of the white left over and compared it with the pink, complete difference in quality, the pink being coarser. I complained and Shirley Wools very rudely stated that I should apologise to them, which of course I haven't done.”

“Very poor service - after contacting Claire Mills I was accused of lying about the non-delivery of my package. Without any notification I also discovered on my credit card that I had been credited for something that was not communicated to me - ie. not given an option to cancel my order if the omitted item may affect my project? After a second email of complaint to Claire I was merely sent a Royal Mail notification of the non-delivery without even as much as an apology. What disgraceful behaviour! If the omitted item affects my project I would be expected to return the goods at my further expense and inconvenience - this again is disgraceful business attitude. Never will be returning to doing business with this online retailer again.”
