“DO NOT BUY! First of all the buzz is too loud to use in an acoustic or mic'd setting, it'll definitely end up on the track unless you actively work to hide it, paying $100 for a metronome that you have to hide in a real world situation is asinine. Perhaps the reason I'm writing this review is the poor experience I've had in dealing with Soundbrenner, Mere days after receiving the product it stopped buzzing, which is literally the feature of this metronome. A few days after contacting customer service it randomly started working again. A month or so later the Pulse stops working, apparently it was an issue with a faulty charger. After sending a video to prove it wasn't working they send out a new charger. A month or two after that it stops working again, this time the buzzing isn't working...again. Customer support asked me to send in yet another video to prove it doesn't work; this is now the third time in less than 6 months I've contacted customer service about this defective metronome. At this point I've reached out to customer service several times asking for a refund and they've ignored all my messages. Aside from the item being a largely unnecessary novelty product simply trying to reinvent the wheel (and failing) there's the abysmal customer service that lead me to unequivocally and in no uncertain terms strongly encourage anyone considering this or any of Soundbrenner's products to NOT buy and look elsewhere.”
“I bought the Core Steel and it's been very useful for my practice. I used to hate rhythm practice, but with the Core Steel, rhythm practice became fun.
I highly recommend this product to all musicians. The design is cool so I wear them every day.”
“I like how comfortable it is, the battery is very long lasting, it’s easy to access the metronome or the dB meter or the tuning feature. Sometimes I wish the watch face had more colors and design but for the most part it’s a perfect gift for any musician to receive”
“I love the soundbrenner core and it immensely helps with my learning, but I'm disappointed that the part of the Body strap rig that holds the core, broke after just a few usages, I'd expect a bit more durability for this price.”
“I bought the Soundbrenner Core Steel and it's a great addition to my music practice. I can't see myself using it in a live setting, but as a rhythm practice tool, it's superb. Also, kudos to the customer service team, I had a slight issue pairing the device with my phone and they helped me solve it super fast. Cheers Soundbrenner”
“I love my Core! Really comfortable to wear as an everyday watch and is a good reminder to practice with a metronome whenever I come to my instrument (I play piano). No excuses! Takes a bit of time to get used to the "silent beat" but it works!”
“This is a great alternative to traditional metronomes. I could never stand using a standard metronome. For me it was like torture to have to listen to the sound it makes. I'm a classical/jazz guitar player so I don't need to have a loud sound to be able to keep correct time. I understand that most of the critical reviews are from drummers. Their arms are in constant motion and the loudness level of their instrument could drown out the effect. In my case, I even find it a bit too intense at even the lowest level, I also think that feeling it works better than hearing it. There's definitely a physical aspect. What also impressed me is the fact that the price was at the exchange rate with the US price. Being from Canada we often have to pay a premium on top of the US-Canada exchange rate. Often the price difference is never adjusted when the Canadian dollar surges upward in relation to the US dollar, like presently. Thank you Soundbrenner for a very convenient technological product for musicians.”
“I've found it really helpful for my practices these days. It's helped me focus on getting my beat more accurate. And the fact that I wear it as a watch gives me a daily reminder to practice more often!”
“Excellent watch, quality of watch is second to none. Easy to use, looks really cool and so so so useful. As a professional musician this watch makes my job much easier. Also as it’s a smart watch notifications are really helpful too.highly recommended. Yes the price is high but you get so much for your money. I would say worth every Penny. You won’t be disappointed.”
“i love the product completely
customer service is amazing
price is hmmm... kinda okay tbh
delivery takes time but its worth it
returns and refunds awesome”
“The Soundbrenner Pulse has really changed my practice! I don’t like playing to a metronome so I used to play to drum tracks but this could sometimes be intrusive... the Pulse changed that completely!”
“This gadget is great. Im a drummer and a guitarist, and have a home studio, so its great for keeping tempos and tuning with acuracy. The haptics on the device are a brilliant way of getting the timing info without even thinking of it. Perfect and reliable!”
“Device is well made, but pulse remains too weak for use in a live setting.
Also, metronome BPM display is too small. This should be ten times as large as it is the only function most users need, in my view. Every string player has a $10 tuner clipped to their headstock (plus one in their pedalboard), so tuning function is completely superfluous, as is DB meter and watch, etc. Eliminate these functions and the included accessories (earplugs, extra watchband, etc.) to reduce costs.
Good for practice, though. They finally got rid of the need for a separate device to activate the haptic metronome. Nothing more annoying than an electronic device that requires another electronic device to work…”
“The Core is well made, but it's primary function as a metronome is lacking for drummers. It's very easy to lose the little buzzes, even on the highest setting, when doing fills and playing aggressively.
What's worse, I returned it to Sounbrenner and they STILL havent reimbursed me after a month!
Soundbrenner screwed up the shipping to me in the very beginning. I had to let Soundbrenner know the Core was stuck at an UPS drop-off location because Soundbrenner neglected something.
Soundbrenner doesn't seem to be very organized or customer-centric.”
