As an officer with more than 20 years of sea service i count all these "mental" courses as some kind of hypocrisy coz we live in a world of commercial pressure with all these consequences arising thereafter.It does not mean that it was always so bad but money is the first issue there.I have said enough and i will not go in details because my opinion will change nothing .”

“The course is out dated. Many statistics from 2018 and references to technology that is no longer or at least now infrequently used on modern vessels. 2 stars because it was a very easy and streamlined process to buy, enroll and complete the course online.”

“Very expensive and quite repetitive. I’ve learned almost nothing new. At the beginning you just get showed Movie Trailers and not even all in English. The test are way to easy.”

For them, the age of the content is not a concern as long as the training effectively conveys its intended message. While incidents like the Herald of Free Enterprise and the Costa Concordia tragedy occurred some time ago, their causes and outcomes remain highly relevant from a learning perspective. Hello Ons, after a course is completed you cannot change your personal details anymore in case you made a spelling error. This is to avoid possible fraudulent action. “hi, the course was more then great, but I much struggle to find ,how to start de course, was not start button anywhere, I pres all options I found on display , I check on you tube , there was no such information, how to start the training, beside of this I entered on the platform and payd the course second part of the day , after I paid I could see my course and payment was available just for that day and, J panic when I see I couldn't start the course and my availability of the course it will expire end of the day , anyway all good in the end somehow I found a way to start , the ideea us : it was much easier if was a way to read how this platform works, if I can log off and when I can restart what I did and what about this expires dead line”

“The training is largely stigmatizing especially against people of African and Arab origin. A "pirate" always portrayed as "savage" black person and especially the photo of the "pirate" standing in front of a ship, of black skin and wearing a Kaffieh. The Kaffieh is the traditional Palestinian scarf and thus this image stigmatizes both blacks and Arabs (particularly Palestinians) as "savage" criminal pirates. STCW should be more considerate on what symbols and images to use in order not to stigmatize and criminalize those already constantly marginalized along racist lines.”

Thank you for your review. Although some material may give an impression to be 'outdated', the content is still very relevant for gaining knowledge regarding maritime disasters. For instance, the Costa Concordia disaster was used as a case study in the course you took. Although this event took place in 2012 it is still considered as a showcase for Crowd and Crisis Management training on board ships. Thank you for using STCW.online and safe sailing! “Some questions on the assessment are quite debatable and different answers could be considered correct. Some parts in the course are not clear why it in the course and the questions in the course are strange attention questions. Not worth the 80 odd dollars...”

“You need to change some of the questions as many are hugely misleading and trick questions - particuallry the ones where there are multiple answers. There is also questions that include content and require asnwers of how to deal with situations that you dont even cover or state e.g if someone can go and get there medicind in an emergency you dont cover that? you allow people to go get warmer clothes but not medicine? yet you also say in one of the videos that if soemoone isnt going towards the muster point that you guide them in the correct way, very confusing when you dont cover stuff in the training and then ask questions about them. also alot of the questions dont actually even make sense e.g soemthing about what shows an effective response to an emergency? just think its bad english, what does that even mean - it should be more like what would allow for an effective response in an emergency !”
