“Terrible car insurer, the company cancelled my policy without any notice not even a letter through the post which resulted in my car being taken by the police because I had no insurance! Yet swinton continued taking payments from my account.
I wouldn't insure anything with them again!”

“Having tried to make a claim on my home / building insurance, Swindon told me that my dangerous chimney was not covered by my policy to be removed. They were quite happy to take my money year after year, so I will be very keen to give them a miss when my renewel policy reminder comes this year!”

“Swindon said they had not received my proof of no claims bonus in the stated time but I had sent it. They cancelled my policy and penalised me £75 if I did not take out a second insurance with them. After much arguing I took out the second policy as I could not afford to lose £75. This policy was much more expensive than the original one as they do not to give cheaper insurance to people who had their policy cancelled although they were the ones who cancelled the policy (unfairly) that day. The people on the phone were arrogant, rude and totally uncaring. They did not listen to what I had to say. They were prepared to leave me with no insurance and also penalise me severely in the process. They also take out £2:10 out my account each month and I cannot establish what that is for. Needless to say I would NOT recommend Swinton insurance. I am still insured with them as I cannot afford to change to another company.”

“My experience making a claim with Swinton was appalling. Our three month old car was a 'write off ' in a no fault accident and was really undervalued. Swinton would not take on our complaint or consider improving the offer, even though we could prove our car was worth more. “I was involved in an accident on 9th December 2014 which i reported immediately,(as soon as the office was open).I gave details,then was put through to another department which turned out to be Quindell solicitors,who Swintons seem to be linked with in some way.They kept me on the phone for 24 minutes,(0800 numbers are not free on mobile networks),which the first of quite a few costly calls.All Quindell were interested in was a personal injury claim,which i didn't pursue.Wrong decision..After several weeks of non comunication,i called Swintons to enquire as to the progress of proceedings,only to find out that they had no idea what i was talking about..By some act of gross incompetence,the details of my accident had not been passed on to the relavent insurance company,who were blissfully unaware that the incident had even occurred..More expensive phone calls ensued,both to my insurance company and the third partys'...To date,the matter has still not arrived at a satisfactory conclusion,almost FIVE months after the incident occured.And i am out of pocket,with a damaged vehicle..Needless to say,i will not be using Swintons again,and i will be relaying my experience,through the medium of social media ,to warn the general insurance buying public of the potential folly of doing so....I will also now begin following the insurance industrys' complaints procedure.”
