“Had new prescription lenses installed in my Maui Jim frame.
Prescription was cut very well but they're not Maui Jim quality.
Hard to describe but, they're not Maui's. Colors don't "pop".
I chose the "digital thinning" option, for a wraparound frame.Bad choice.
Next time I'll pay for original Maui Jim.”
Thanks for the review Kevin. First of all, you would not be able to get your prescription lenses made by Maui Jim in those wrapped frames as your prescription is beyond their range that they will do. The only way for you to get your prescription in those wrapped sunglasses is to use our digital edge thinning technology. Secondly, scientifically speaking through third party optical lab testing, our lenses actually feature significantly higher optical clarity and more color boost and contrast than the Maui Jim prescription lenses. Please do what is best for you going forward, and we'll be here if you want any lenses in your strong prescription in wrapped frames going forward (that MJ will not do for you).
“Like the lenses they are a little thicker and heavier than the Maui jim lenses. But nice and comfortable.. the carrying case which is also used for cleaning the lenses is sub par doesn’t do a good job cleaning the lenses”

A bit odd that you're saying they are thicker and heavier than your original Maui Jim lenses since our lens technology is the lightest weight polarized lens that exists on the market today. As for the cleaning pouch, that premium microfiber material is the best thing to clean your new lenses with. “Lense match exactly with a high quality glass lens. The process was easy, although I didn't get the prelables box I thought I ordered. also when you get your lenses back they won't have the logo on them; but I was good with that fact. I just printed out the lable, boxed the glasses and received them back broughtly and I think they might have even adjusted them for me a little.”

As for the box, you selected to have us email you a shipping label to use with your own box on your order so that is what we did. We would have shipped you the box if you reached out asking or had selected it on your order. And finally, as for the logo, we have discontinued the logo so none of our lenses now come with the Tajima logo.

“The replacement didn’t match my lens. They offered 2 other options, a gold/ brown, and a rose color. I asked if they could be mirrored & they could. The gold/brown might have been better. I chose the rose because I thought the gold/brown looked dark. I have grown fond of the rose.

“Clarity and vision correction every bit as good as Maui Jim and his thieving friends. The brown tint is too yellow for me but what can I do about that?”
“Great lenses. As in they perform every bit as well as, or better than the original Costa lenses. I fished on the North Platte River while using these in my Costa frames. I was pleased with them. Fitment is a bit of an issue. My Tajima lenses are installed easily but are just a touch loose wherein if I clean them without that in mind, they will pop out easily. I may use a touch of glue to take care of that problem”

“I have received my Tajima lenses, and they were very easy to install and fit my frames very well. I use these for fishing so I can not yet say how good they are on the water yet but I will test them out in the next couple of weeks. I can compare these to other brands and let everyone know.”

Ken, glad to hear everything was great on the lenses and you have absolutely no complaints. As for the durability and scratch resistance, they will be equivalent scratch resistance to glass and 5x more scratch resistant than polycarbonate and nylon (plastic), but the will not shatter or crack like glass will as they meet all ANSI standards for impact resistance and shatterproof.

“fast shipping and top-shelf customer service. Installation was a bit harder than the website described. You feel like your about to break the frames before they pop-in place. Keep in mind they wont break and use the force necessary to pop out the old and pop in the new. Follow the directions exactly as they suggest on positioning and it is possible to install them yourself.”
