Hi I’m doing this on behalf of my elderly mum who is in Sydney.i live overseas. Her insurance company recently reviewed black mould that has sprouted on her ceilings to the front of her house. They determined water was getting in through the tile roof. They will repair the roof and also repaint the mouldy ceiling. What they have not done is carried out a proper mould inspection. I am learning that black mould is really dangerous and I don’t know what should be done in this situation. They did not inspect the roof space that has insulation. I’m assuming that is damp and mouldy. Can you please guide me with recommendations of what should be done in this situation before the ceiling is repainted? What is involved and the cost. I feel like the insurer is avoiding anything more than cleaning the ceiling mould (which perhaps the painter might just scrape away…I don’t know) in prep for new paint. Thank you.
