“Last spring, I booked what for me would have been a dream holiday to Egypt this past Easter break - to see the Pyramids, the Sphinx, Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel etc. I booked with a travel company called Intrepid Travel. Separately, I booked return flights on EgyptAir with a company called Travel Junction - I found them on SkyScanner. I was due to fly on 28th March 2026, but a week before my trip, Intrepid cancelled the tour package. They cited force majeure; the war in Iran led to them cancelling many of their trips to Egypt and other parts of the Middle East. I have been fully reimbursed for the tour package by Intrepid (who were brilliant) - but not by Egypt Air / Travel Junction for the flights.
Egypt Air said on their website: "tickets with travel dates up to 5 April 2026 may be refunded without cancellation fees." I have screenshot evidence for this. Which is just as well... this notice cannot be found on their site now! Travel Junction made sympathetic noises - but were not very helpful. They emailed me two weeks ago: "Upon reviewing your booking, we can see that the journey has been marked as no-show, and we were not notified in advance regarding any changes to your travel plans." This is not true as they themselves acknowledged that my travel plans changed when my tour package was cancelled in an email they sent me on the 18th March: "We understand your concerns regarding your booking and the cancellation of your tour package due to the current situation in the region."
BOTTOM LINE: I paid £504 for flights when my tour package was cancelled. The airline EXPLICITLY said that customers affected would be entitled to claim a refund - but Travel Junction, a company Skyscanner platform and enable, have just brushed me off.
I went to write a formal complaint to ABDA - but lamentably, Travel Junction are not affiliated to the Association of British Travel Agents. TripAdvisor contributors have fed back dozens of times about the poor service from Travel Junction: https://shorturl.at/56Pap.... the more fool I for not reading this thread before booking. I just thought if it was on SkyScanner, it must be legit - how hopelessly wrong I was.
LESSON: Avoid Skyscanner - go with Momondo or Kayak instead. DEFINITELY AVOID TRAVEL JUNCTION!!!!! And finally, don't be an idiot like me and pay with your debit card. Some life lessons can only be learnt the hard way. :-(”
“AVOID!!! Took payment for flights, then rang to say no seats available at that price, pay another £1200. To which I refused, they then advised me to email asking for payment cancellation. No one acknowledged that email, had to ring 2 days later to get confirmation of cancellation. Every kept telling me up to 48 hours. It’s been a week now and still no refund, despite the claim it’s been processed their end.
Had to ask my bank to get involved to help with my refund.
Don’t take payments if flights aren’t available?! Awful service.”
