Hello Sara, I can completely understand how frustrating it can be when you get a product and it does not look like how you expected. Unfortunately, all computers are different and have differing brightness levels. Additionally, everyone's home has different levels of lighting which also affects the appearance of the shade. However, we do offer free fabric samples if you send us an email to hi@pooky.com with the shade you are looking to buy and the address you would like it delivered to and we will get the sample sent out to you immediately along with a tracking number so you are able to see when it will be arriving to you. “I absolutely love the look of my cordless lamp & the price makes sense once you feel how great it feels in person. I will say, I wish the genesis bulb was brighter. I have smaller lamps that are brighter than this one, even when it's fully charged and at the highest brightness setting on the remote.”
