As usual, a well organised cruise full of exciting places to visit, brilliant guides, delightful staff, excellent food and drink and a perfectly run 'hotel on the river'. Viking manage also to effect good value for the cost of the cruise - there is nothing to complain about! We have completed two river cruises, have another one booked for next year and there are still some left to enjoy.

We liked the comfort, the food, the service. We disliked being on a boat with 90% of the customers coming from the USA. We think your recommended gratuities are a complete nonsense. Don't your cruise directors get a salary? We are unlikely to make any further bookings with Viking.

Professional, personal service all the way. Every detail was thought off leaving us to enjoy the experience.

Our Douro (Portugal) cruise was excellent in every respect and one of our best holidays ever. Every day was different, with possibly the day excursion to Salamanca being the highlight. The Viking Torgil is a relatively small ship (104 passengers?), and were were very fortunate that we got on with so many of our fellow travellers. Coincidentally, at least six of us were Welsh speakers and at least a further five were Welsh, which added to our enjoyment - having a conversation in Welsh in the middle of wild Portugal was quite something! The food was good and the crew also was good, with an honourable mention to the pianist (name forgotten, sorry!). We have already booked our next cruise - "Portraits of Southern France" for April, 2016.

The staff and cruise director were very good, but the quality and amount of the food was, in my opinion, not good. Breakfasts were OK, there's not a lot to go wrong with the breakfast buffet but we felt that the lunches and evening dinners were very short in quantity. Because of the above, we will not be going on a Viking river cruise again. The first one down the Danube was excellent but we feel that Viking are making cut-backs but still charging the same amount.

My wife and I have cruised the Rhine with Viking in 2014 and Rhone/ Saone this year. We have booked to cruise the Elbe next year. Whereas we enjoy the entire experience, we regard the vessel itself as the highlight. We have found no fault with either vessel.

Our last cruise was The Douro in Portugal. Everything about it was of a very high standard. Already looking forward to The Elbe in August !

The Douro is a lovely river and was made all the more lovely by the lovely Viking people. Lots of Port and lots of lovely food and trips.

My mother and I enjoyed our Danube River Cruise very much. Everything went like clockwork, the food was excellent, staff wonderful, especially Vlad our cruise director who was interesting and very humourous! The audio tours were good especially for my mother who has poor hearing. We enjoyed dining with different people each mealtime from USA and Canada mainly. We were glad we upgraded to the balcony room as we would not have had a view otherwise.

Our recent Rhine cruise was not as good as last years Douro cruise. We travelled on Viking Sun where we felt attention in the restaurant was rather hit and miss; coffee at breakfast was often difficult to obtain, and as a white wine drinker I seemed to be overlooked for a refill while the majority who drank red got a plentiful supply. Once I could get hold of a waiter I was attended to. If I remember beer correctly least year there was a Sommelier in the dining room, and it was not left to the waiters. The Maitre Di occasionally walked around but did not seem proactive. Despite these grumbles we enjoyed the cruise and will probably return to Viking.

River Elbe cruise on "Clara Schumann" - wonderful staff, excellent food, really interesting itinerary. Older ship so staterooms not as large as newer ships.

A very good holiday. Got the impression that, compared to the Russian and Danube cruises which we have also taken with Viking, this Duoro cruise struggled a little to find really interesting places to take us off the ship. Best were Salamanca and Lamego, but Favaios and Castelo Rodrigo were hardly riveting. Also too much concentration on visits to (usually port) wineries where nothing was happening and therefore little to see. Vessel excellent, with first class accommodation and food, as usual. High marks also for the staff, escorts etc. A suggestion - what about organising holidays with 4 days on the ship (ie travelling either up or down stream), You could start in Madrid (2-3 nights), then visit Salamanca (1 night) en route for the ship at Barca D'Alva then sail to Porto (4 nights on board) with visits to eg Lamego, Mateus, etc and Porto, and then Coimbra (1 night) and Lisbon (3 nights) (or in opposite direction). That would make an excellent 11-12 night holiday, and extensions could be offered as now at either end.

Have just returned from Imperial Jewels of China. Excellent holiday, well organised, excellent ship and hotels. Yangtze river did not quite come up to expectations although the three gorges and goddess stream were well worth the visit and the lock system was an interesting experience. Disappointed that we were unable to go inside the dam to see how things operated and that you no longer have the optional excursion to the Summer Palace, this might be preferential to the Peking Opera. Facilities on the ship were excellent as were the Officers and staff. Our one criticism was the lack of seating on the sun deck, there is plenty of room for more chairs and or beds. We wrote on the cruise itself that we had booked as a large party (10) . We are friends who do not meet very often but appreciate our time together especially over a meal. Although we agree with you r open seating plan in general we think that in a few instances like a group booking this could be relaxed. We had in addition one member who is a coeliac and the staff were excellent but it helps them if the person is seated in the same area for each meal

Could not fault anything except sampan boat ride up the three gorges, audio system poor and views were restricted because of boat lay out, but we still enjoyed it and boat staff were very friendly and informative.

The tour was excellent [China]. The quality of the hotels was high and the cruise part was very good. The whole experience could not have been better, and was in line with other viking cruises we have been on. The tour escort was extremely good and the local guides gave good service.
