I came to Volumio (on RPi) from the worlds of Plex and OSMC, two similar and perhaps competing software products. I like Volumio a lot, for several reasons: (1) It brings together many of the streams I use under a single, uniform interface; (2) It is designed to run headless; (3) The app UI is simple, direct, and clear; (4) As of the current version, it is largely debugged and stable; (5) It supports most (all?) of the common I2S audio boards for the Pi. Some areas of improvement are: (1) Plug-in for LiveXLive; (2) When playing songs from DLNA, UI displays "file.mp3" even though title information is known; (3) Songs from web radio are not included in "Last 100" though title information is known; (4) Update procedure is unclear (though we are warned against using apt like a simple Linux box); (5) Equalizer plugins are not stable and have caused me to factory reset every time I try them; (6) Paid plans are too costly.

Just unstable, and Spotify connect constantly falling. Older versions were better.

Awesome sound, awesome tech support (if needed), awesome team. I own a Bang&Olufsen system and I had never heard the music with such quality. On a RaspebrryPi, my God.

I am still getting used to it. My experience so far with auto-upgrade or auto updates have not gone very well for me. What used to work in my initial version 2 was lost after the upgrade / update. For now, I am sticking with Version 2. My Ver 2 configuration is working for me. I've made multiple copies of this SD card in case one of mine gets corrupted. I have made on a separate SD card, a version 3, but do not find a Pandora add in and I don't know how to do that via a manual configuration. Later I do plan on setting up a Linux Media NAS to load all my music collection and stream it to my Allo DigiOne media player. For now, I am happy to have something that works after spending a ton on this RPi 4 Allo DigiOne player. If I find something else that works more easily out of the box, I'll switch in a new york minute, but, for now I am struggling with Volumio, but content with version 2. The more experience I get maybe I will intrinsically enjoy it more. I cannot recommend this to my friends because they'd all pester me for tech support that I don't have a command knowledge of to run Volumio.... I wished I could have offered a better review. But truthfully, I am struggling with Volumio. Especially after hocking over $460 for this Allo DigiOne that I WANT to work better for me. Thank you for allowing me to be truthful with you. Have been using Volumio for 2 years (at least) now on a rpi3 + DigiOne into a DAC and my amp. The software gets regular updates which makes it more and more user friendly and stable. Great work from the Volumio team. The integration of Spotify is also excellent. Many thanks !

Streaming and digital in general is new to me. Vinyl was my first choice for too many years. Choosing an rpi4 through i2s to a dac and using volumio, opened up new horizons in music listening. Tidal connect remains in Volumio 3 sometimes a bit problematic but quite better than volumio 2. CD quality and DSD is really good through Volumio but I cannot say the same about hi resolution and MQA ( a bit weird sounding exaggerating high frequencies? I don't know) . In any case controlling your music from your smartphone is a luxury that I can't live without it anymore. I am sure that the Volumio team will continue the good job and the reasonable pricing policy. The support is great and setting the rpi is really easy.

5 Star product on the free version with Raspberry Pi and Audioquest Dragonfly Cobalt. I use Tidal and I can stream using Roon and Audirvana, Full MQA with those 2 and Volumio. I am trying now the Volumio with the Manifest user interface, which is beautiful and adds value. This paid version enables Tidal Connect, but Volumio does not perform the 1st unfold and Audioquest is just renderer (2nd unfold), so no Full MQA (4 Stars product finally). With the latest update of Volumio (3.198) Audirvana does not see Volumio (please work it out!). Thanks Volumio

I've been using Volumio 3 years and I like it. System is quite stable and useful. I don't use pay plan because it's exactly not cheap but free version is good enough. Only once I've reinstalled system it took 20 minutes my time) not big deal. The newest version 3.0 still have same users problems such us fail display Cyrillic file's names and not working plugins from 2.0 gen. Hope it will be solve in few weeks. The greatest thanks for your job Volumio team!!!

Version 3 works similar to version 2 except UPNP doesn't work. Worked fine in version 2 but somehow they mucked it up.

My system consist of a Orchard DAC with a raspberry Pi 4 computer. In addition, I have a raspberry Pi 4 running a touchscreen to control streaming hi-res Tidal music to the DAC. Volumio is the glue that makes the magic happen. It is a great control system that makes finding and playing your favorite tracks easy. Highly recommended!
