I am new to Volumio with the purchase of Rivo. I am still learning my way around but have experienced a few glitches. One is likely with my televisions hdmi settings I’m still trying to sort out. Like I said, I’m still learning. Scrolling through my playlist seems to only be accomplished by swiping up or down, I would have expected a slider/buttons on the margin to slide up or down. When you swipe a “button” appears on the right side but I have yet to figure out any way but to swipe, which with a large playlist takes some effort. I’ve had a few glitches, the remote on my iPad seems slow to respond, once the player would not respond so I attempted to restart Volumio and after I had closed it a random track started playing I could only stop by shutting down iPad. User error, very possible but worth mentioning the few glitches in an expensive highly touted player. Aside from that sound quality is very good and the unit itself is very attractive. Still learning my way around.

I am using Volumio since the end of 2020. It improved a lot! It is truly "plug and play" and this is important for somebody who is not good with computer set-up!

Volumio 3 really reached a new level of dependability and audio quality, along with thoughtful design in the user interface. The experience of using it day by day can still be a little rough around the edges in some small ways (why does my Qobuz account just disappear from my sources list sometimes?), but for me that is more than compensated for by the technical excellence of the core software, by the strong sense of commitment and involvement you get from the development team, and especially by the commitment to FOSS, which gives me the ability to go in and poke around and even hack a little when I have to or feel like it.

Great help with updating the system software on my Primo

I am using the software on a Raspberry Pi with an external DAC and I'm loving it. It's a great way to play music from my local storage as well as Spotify, Qobuz and web radio.

I have been using volumio for some time now, and I still think it is great. It allows me to enjoy my entire cd collection (2000+), on several places in my house. It runs on a simple thin client connected to an amplifier, (a HP 620 works fine), using a wifi tablet as a control plane. Easy to setup, and easy to control. Just download the apropriate image, flash it to a usb-stick, and you are good to go. All you need to do is create a central storage location for your music and point Volumio to it. As simple as that!

Updating to the newest software did not work automatically. But with some help of Davide everything works really nice now. New features like casting to a Sonos device works great and "play here" is also really nice. Thanks for your help. I Definitely will consider to buy a primo 2.

At first, impossible to follow the Quick Guide instructions. Seems wrong or outdated. Nothing appears to connect, just hearing a few clicks from the box. Tried using iPhone, PC to no avail. How could I get this to work with my PC? There are no specific instructions about what to do with the download? What is the use of that thing in the Free mode? Disappointing for the non-geek.

Purchased a refurbished Volumio Primo in Jul 22. Initially worked fine - saw my DAC, read my music etc. Moved the unit to a new location, new DAC and Music source. No output. Doesn’t see the USB drive, doesn’t see the DAC and when I shift to RCA and streaming it doesn’t output. Did a factory reset and updated the software - to no avail. Frustrated.

In April this year I tried to contact "Volumio" with regard to their erratic commercial processes and the low performance quality of Volumio 3. I finally received a response on 4 July. My response sent 30 September is below: Monica Many thanks for your delayed response. I must admit that I rarely find organisations as unresponsive as those of Volumio, its partners and owners. I did not receive any response whatsoever. I eventually renewed my subscription for another year at the lowest price I could find on the web, emails etc. At that time, I could not find a suitable alternative. Today I am using Volumio to stream Spotify and every playlist jumps from track to track for at lease half a dozen times before playing a track...... Here it goes again........ I have no problems streaming directly from Spotify. The loading of Qobuz seems to be a random process, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I see you are launching a new product which has at its heart Volumio 3, are you sure it is ready? I will definitely look very, very hard to find an alternative when I am asked next year, by the most unfriendly organisation in the world, to renew my subscription. If you are considering Volumio I suggest, like me, you try to find an alternative. Oops, my tracks are jumping again,,,,,,,

Volumio is great. It's easy to install and use on any device (though it's made to work on small fanless pc's like Intel Nuc or Raspberry Pi). It allowes to manage all your music library flawlessly. The playback quality is better than with Windows. I think it lacks two perks. The first one is real-time kernel. Everybody who compiled debian with it, tells that it's essential for playback quality. The second is using Volumio device as a USB flash drive. I want to connect it to my PC as a smartphone and drag&drop my CD rips inside.

I have a custom made dac, controlled by RPI. The RPI's software had crashed. Initially I installed Volumio 3. With this the dac did play again, only at a pitch of about an octave lower. With headphones in the RPI, the good sound was reproduced. Tried to solve that together with Davide from Volumio. Davide told me that Volumio 3 is based on a different operating system than previous versions. I have a latest version of Volumio 2 installed. This solves the problem.
