I found Volumio easy to install and run on Raspberry Pi4 with a JustBoom Digi Hat and Pi Zero with Pimoroni DAC hat. User interface is clear and intuitive, access via app or browser works flawlessly. Playback from FLAC files on a NAS is pretty much perfect, radio stations great, Spotify is OK (seemed to be more consistent on Volumio V2).

I liked the fact that you can install it on a USB drive (that's exactly what I did). Tested in the free version playing DSD format. I set the volume in the Volumio program interface to 30%, on the amplifier the volume control was turned off for about 11 hours. Launched the DSD file. Volumio reproduced a sound similar to "white noise" at maximum volume. After that, on my acoustics, the high-frequency speakers + high-frequency filter capacitors + tubes in the preamplifier failed. I'm not sure about the lamps, maybe it's a coincidence. This happened when playing the DSD format in the free version, the volume control in the Volumio interface does not work and the DSD format is played at 100% volume, only instead of the music itself, a sound similar to "white noise" is played, but if you raise the volume to 100%, then already music is playing. This is, in part, my fault, because before that I used Foobar and there is the same problem. Then I signed up a Volumio test Premium account and everything is in order there, the sound is regulated. It took about 1 month to restore my audio path. It's a shame, but I didn't manage to listen to Volumio normally. It would probably not be bad to make a warning in the interface of the free Volumio before playing the DSD format.

Using free version for Spotify. Not 100% bug free track selection not always as accurate as it should be. Contemplating trying tidal ,not sure I'd be willing to upgrade volumio .

I'm a hobbyst and I use the free version of Volumio. Tried it several times in Raspberry PI during the years. It's a nice interface. I understand the intention of the latest versions to introduce a paid tier, but it's a cost I cannot afford (specially if it's ongoing). So I've stuck to the older versions, but they don't seem to work well with Spotify. So for now I've decided to stick to piCorePlayer and LMS as server (I've got a Squeezebox too). But for anyone ready to pay the price the new Volumio is a very good option.

so far it fits my needs. I've transferred all my cd's to digital and have them running from a usb drive via Volumio on a Pi Zero. Plus I have tons of web radio stations, a bunch of BBC, Classic old time radio shows, all in one tiny unit. It sounds wonderful through a mismatched component system from parts I acquired over the years.

I'm using Volumio in a Raspberry Pi 4 with a Hifiberry Dac. Excellent combination! Most of my music is in DSF format.

Volumio works well for what it does, but I do not support the subscription model for paid features. I only want Tidal connect however am not willing to pay monthly for its convenience. Desperately need a one time purchase option for the “advanced plugin”.

The value is just not there. All I want is Tidal connect. I'm not going to pay for premium just to get access to that one feature.

Volumio is interesting and nice for nerds/geeks but it has unfortunately many bugs or situations where it does not work as expected. E.g.: Even I installed the touchscreen plugin, it does not appear. It just shows the normal "browser"- view. Playing songs from Spotify often just lags/hangs up. The documentation is often from version 2, although version 3 is live since years.

Played the first time with a RasberryPi and it worked perfectly also in combination with the HiFiBerry`s DAC2Pro. Well documented installation and setup procedure. Thumps up for the free version.

I'm a total luddite, but last year I heard good things about Volumio from an acquaintance. My daughter helped me put the free version of Volumio on a Raspberry Pi 4, which is connected to a 3 year old Schiit Modi dac going in to my stereo. Was blissfully streaming local radio stations and Pandora until I recently upgraded to Version 3, which broke the Pandora plugin. Taking away one star for that. Hopefully that plugin will be fixed soon so I can get back to my Pandora stations.

Volumio simply does what it is made for. Streaming!! Moreover it is even for me, I‘m not a digital native, easy to install and use. Just perfect!

Using the free version on raspberry pi 4 and is all sounding fine. Hate the fact I can’t sort tracks by number without adding them to a playlist and the GUI in the app is nothing short of terrible. Don’t know if any of this is better with the paid version, but, as I don’t use streaming services, I can’t see anything in terms of additional features that would make me want to upgrade. Thinking of switching back to Audirvana, if only for the correct track order, which would be a shame, as I wanted to love Volumio!

I am happy about my nanosound one with dvd plugin using volumino 2.x. Purchasing a lifitime license is ok for me. Monthly or yearly subscibtion is not my way to support you.

El programa es excelente. Solo que me gustaría que utilice una nube como Google drive o alguna para tener la música actualizada. Desde otro red

Volumio has suited our company well, setup was easy enough. Streams are sometimes inconsistent and need to be restarted but I imagine that's due to the provider and not the system. The autostart plugin was a nice touch in v1 & v2 but now that it's locked behind a paid wall it creates more administration work for us.
