Had a lovely 2 day stay at Waveney River Centre in the yurts. The good: yurts come well equipped with a bed (bring your own bedding), a sofa bed (that converts to 2 singles), 2 bedside tables, 2 lamps, a small chest of drawers, coatrack, small bin, a radiator, and a lovely log fire. The yurt itself is also insulated, and between this, the fire, and the radiator, there’s no worry at all about being too cold inside. There’s also a picnic table and bench on the decking outside. Some fabulous views of the river, also a swimming pool (we didn’t use it so can’t comment on it), and kayaks/canoes for rent at very reasonable prices. Another bonus is that the Waveney Inn will deliver hot restaurant food directly to your yurt for no extra cost! The bad: when we arrived the double bed was broken - when my partner knelt on the bed to put the sheet on, the bed collapsed beneath him. The team was fantastic though, offering to either swap the bed or let us swap yurts (we opted for just a bed swap), which they then did within 10 minutes. The only other real downside is that because the walls of the yurts aren’t secured to the floor, we did have an issue with lots of spiders getting in to seek warmth and shelter from the rain, and some of them were quite large. This isn’t unexpected with the camping experience of course, but it’s something to bear in mind if you’re an arachnophobe. The gap between the bottom of the walls and the floor also meant that a strong breeze may bother anyone sleeping on the bottom of the convertible sofa bed (as the mattress is basically on the floor). We were a family group who collectively stayed in 5 of the 7 yurts, and one issue that only affected one yurt was leaking from the heavy rain, which started as a small leak but grew to be a bit more of a substantial issue as it was directly above the sofa bed. But again, the team was fantastic, offering to let them move to another yurt or one of the wooden escape pods. Overall the experience was a pleasant one, would definitely consider coming again and maybe staying in one of the (hopefully spider-free!) lodges.

We had a really lovely break of 4 nights camping. This was our second visit to Waveney River Centre. The weather was awful and whilst that dampened our spirits we managed to have a really lovely time. One thing I would raise is that whilst the Toilet block is very functional it could do with a bit of a clean and tidy up in terms of some limescale, mould issues round the shower. We enjoyed having the restaurant on site to go for a drink in the evening when it was raining. They need to implement a drinks men, as they do not have one and that made ordering drinks more difficult. Overall we enjoyed ourselves.

We have stayed here a couple of times before and had no complaints, but felt the lodges could have been a bit cleaner and service at the Wavney Inn was slow although the food was good. This time we stayed in Fairview Lodge and really enjoyed or stay! The lodge was very clean and comfortable. A small prob with the hotub cover in strong wind was very quickly resolved by the maintenance team. The site was busy but quite of an evening. We took advantage of the food delivery service from the Wavney Inn, a Wavney burger with chips arrived at the lodge within 20mins and was delicious! We also had breakfast before we left and again good service and nice brekky. The staff are very pleasant and polite and seemed genuinely pleased to see us. We have already booked our next stay.

Fantastic, well maintained beautiful site, staff really friendly and helpful. Pitches are generous in size and have lovely views. Peaceful and quiet. Whether we take our camper or stay in one of the lodges, we always have a special time at Waveney.

My wife and I stayed in Waterside Lodge for the weekend. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. The Lodge was exceptionally clean and beautifully located with fantastic views of the river and open countryside. We enjoyed using the hot tub and our welcome pack was a lovely touch. It was a shame we couldn't check in until 5pm, as I felt this meant our trip was made much shorter, especially as we had to leave as early as 9am on the Monday morning. For the amount you pay for these lodges I think this is a bit cheeky. I appreciate the fact these times have currently been changed due to the "deep clean covid regulations", but it still seems a bit excessive. We didn't eat in the Restaurant, but did order a takeaway, which was very handy. The food was OK but not great. As we drove past the other lodges, we noticed that a lot of them could do with a bit of a paint as they were looking a bit tired. Overall, we did have a lovely stay and would recommend the Waterside Lodge to anyone wanting a laid back, relaxing break........a lot of the other lodges didn't seem to have the same level of privacy......so we were very lucky to have chosen the right one!

Stayed at Hotel in Chart Room Friday 21st - Monday 24th May. Room lovely, large king size bed , great shower and tea/coffee making facilities. Restaurant served lovely full English breakfast every morning of our stay (choice of breakfast), which is included if booked direct. Evening meals were very good too, fairly reasonably priced, drinks reasonable too. Hired a boat for two days and had a great time. The staff (everywhere on site) are so friendly and helpful. Couldn't fault any member of staff. The only fault I found was the view from our hotel window. Although it did have a view of marina it also had a view of some refuse bins and odd bits and pieces that were left in that corner of the complex. It wouldn't take too much effort to put that right and please don't be put off by booking the lovely Chart room.

A lovely clean and quiet campsite set in stunning grounds facing onto the Wavney River. Friendly helpful staff Clean big individual shower rooms. Lovely swimming pool. We hired a boat for the day which was interesting! Nice on site pub good food and service. The site shop was a little disappointing didnt have much stock of useful items. We camped as a group and had a lovely weekend away despite the not so good weather!

Very enjoyable few days celebrating the wife’s belated 60th. Lodges excellent, shame about the very bad weather. Due to COVID restricted facilities including segregated swimming and no changing rooms. Found it odd that the communal showers were open but not the pools! Staff all very helpful. It’s a good location if you want a quiet peaceful break.

Second visit to the WRC, and despite grotty weather we had a great time. Staff all very friendly. Facilities clean and warm, the individual loos and showers with underfloor heating are spot on. Hired a small boat for the day which was something nice and different to do. equally high standards with the boats. We will be returning.

Although the centre is quite a way off the beaten track it's very pretty and quiet for a relaxed break. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and the facilities are clean and well kept. Boat hire for the day is a little pricey but they are nice looking boats so maybe a shorter hire time option could be offered. There's a nice choice of reasonably priced food available in the Waveney Inn which is delicious. We would definitely consider a return visit.

Pleasant site if somewhat untidy. Hotel room good, cleanliness and staff helpfulness excellent. Bteakfast and evening meals fair. Lodges quite old altho understand new phase in planning. Feel travel to site in poor weather could be problematic due to narrow single track roads. A pleasant stay overall.

It was a great weekend away. The accommodation was brilliant and had everything we needed. We felt there could be a little more to do in the inn but appreciate it is during hard times at the moment.

I wouldn't consider this place as 5 star as advertised however the room we stayed in was spacious modern and had everything you would expect with a B and B booking. Covid prevention was taken seriously and well managed throughout the building including at The Waveney Inn where breakfast was provided. Staff were helpful and accommodating. Items missing from the room were toiletries I.e. Shower gel, shampoo etc. on asking it was advised these weren't included due to Covid? We stayed in the Aft Cabin, don't expect views of any kind. The grounds have a small area for Touring vehicles, campers and some glamping tents and lodges with an individual Spa just outside. Shower and rest room facilities for campers were individual rooms which were modern. The pool is a reasonable size though not big. There is a seperate building with verandas overlooking a mooring and the River Waveney which are self catering and offer nice views. If we booked again we would Choose a self catering option simply for the views. Breakfast options were adequate with a vegetarian full English choice alongside other options. We ate one meal at the Waveney Inn, the chicken pie with vegetables and mash was pretty ok, the vegetarian bean chilli with rice was average. We looked elsewhere to eatvour main meals and ate twice at the White Lion Wheatscre, food here was excellent and well presented with very good service. Day boat hire is expensive, we were quoted for the smallest boat 140.00 on the phone however when asking staff preparing a boat that the cost was 170.00. We chose not to hire a day boat but drive to Wrexham where we could pick up a 2hr boat tour at 28.00 for two people which included an interesting commentary with facilities on board for refreshments, snacks etc which were at an extra cost. We would recommend taking the small ferry crossing over to Walk on Carlton Marshes where there is good bird and wildlife to be seen. There is also a visitor centre part way along this route. The Terrace in front of the Waveney Inn is a lovely spot to take breakfast on a dry day as well as for a drink or a meal. This overlooks fields with the nearest having cows grazing. We would return if we wished to, either in the hotel or the self catering or perhaps the touring area if the weather were dry and somewhat warmer.
