My sister recommended World of Books, I'm glad she did! It's excellent, recycling, less land fill, environmentally friendly. The condition of the book is displayed and brief description of story line. Super fast delivery. Well done!

Hello, Thanks for your review!

The book i ordered on WOB was not the book i was delivered. When i contacted customer services i was told they cannot process a replacement as the transaction was done through a 3rd party seller. This shows a gross lack of respect for the customer. I should not be expected to spend my own time returning an incorrect item due to the sellers incompetence, refund or not. One customer down, i hope the £12 was worth it WOB team.

Initially had one good sell with my books. Second time was a totally different experience. Stating books and dvds where not acceptable[damaged] yet I watched them all before sending and all played perfectly well. The books were mouldy or water damaged, again checked and no issue before sending. requested the items back as proof of the issues they've said! If the item wasn't bought by them, surely it remains my property. If this is happening multiple times to different people, and as others have pointed out. They are acceptable and they are selling them.

Stolen Property Trade # 10050041 My daughter send you books, which you are now refusing to pay for, or return to her. You are effectively claiming ownership for gods that do not belong to you. I am writing to formally raise a complaint on behalf of my daughter, [Your Daughter’s Full Name], in relation to books she sent to World of Books under an agreed sale arrangement. A price was agreed in advance, and the books were sent to you in good faith. However, your company is now refusing to pay for some of the books while also refusing to return the unpaid items. This is both unreasonable and, in my view, unlawful. Nature of the Complaint Books were sent following an offer and acceptance of sale. Your company has unilaterally refused to pay for certain books. You are now withholding these items and claiming ownership, despite no payment having been made. This amounts to an unfair commercial practice and may be in breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Legal Position Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a contract formed between a business and a consumer must be fair and transparent. Retaining property that has not been paid for and refusing to return it is likely to be deemed an unfair term or practice. Furthermore, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, your company is obligated to clearly set out terms of cancellation and return. Even if you claim certain items are “not accepted,” you are not entitled to keep them without compensation or consent. The refusal to return unpaid goods that were sent in good faith under a mutual agreement could also be considered conversion (unlawful interference with someone else’s property) under civil law, and may constitute theft under the Theft Act 1968, as you are knowingly depriving the rightful owner of their property. Requested Resolution Immediate payment for the agreed value of all books accepted. Immediate return of all books for which you are refusing payment. A written explanation and apology for the mishandling of this matter. If this matter is not resolved within 14 days, we reserve the right to escalate the complaint to the relevant regulatory bodies, such as Trading Standards, and may seek legal redress in the Small Claims Court for the value of the missing books and associated costs. I look forward to your prompt response.

I received what I thought was my chosen book today to find it was a tatty copy of something else entirely. I will not use this company again. I have emailed customer service asking for the book I have paid for….

Very unhappy and disappointed. Sent good quality used books, was told that what I sent was unacceptable so they kept the books, paid me pennies on the dollar and stated they would properly dispose of the books they kept. My suspicion is that they are going to sell the “unacceptable condition “ books rather than dispose of them and no one will be the wiser. Essentially they stole the books in my opinion.

A company who have no idea of customer service. After waiting for five days, the book I ordered hadn't even been processed ready for despatch. This is a company with no phone number or email address to contact, just some stupid AI bot. The company absolutely didn't care one iota about a dissatisfied customer. Do yourselves a favour - stick to Amazon for buying books, that's what I'll be doing from now on.

I ordered a book to read for a new job. The book arrived 2 days later in good condition. The price of this book was really good as well. Cannot fault such service.

Used Wob many times and generally good service. This time however the wrong book was sent. That's where it all goes horribly wrong. Customer service, which is actually an automated response bot said a replacement was sent. Never arrived. Back to bot who said out of stock, choose another. This too has allegedly been sent but I'm not holding my breath.

I ordered a hardback book and was sent a paperback. When I complained I was told this was OK as they reserved the right to substitute different editions to the ordered one.

I ordered various Arthur Ransome books with their traditional dust sheet covers as shown on their website. What I actually received were these books printed by other publishers also shown on their website which I certainly wouldn’t have ordered. When I complained, I was told that that the ISBN number conformed to my request. I will definitely not use this website again.

You can easily be scammed on this site. I ordered what appeared to be a set of 4 books and was only sent 1. Their response was ‘pictures are for illustrative purposes only’- so basically they can just send what they like. AVOID.

World of Books - "Buy cheap second-hand books online". Their own words. Bought a book - used not new. Cost £10.74. (Plus £3.90 delivery). The used book came with a Cancer Research UK shop sticker showing £1.95. (They didn't even bother to take it off) The book cover price printed on it £4.95. Draw your own conclusions.

packaging, front was damaged on arrival. Had to return it - sent it back Dec 18th, they received it Dec 20th. Realised in Jan that they'd not bothered to send my refund. Had to get in touch with them to do so - 3 times I asked for a refund, 3 times they assured me they'd sent it, and 3 times my refund never appeared. Had to ask eBay to step in & sort it out. I don't like being lied to - will never order from them again.

Be careful of this bunch. They will give you a refund, but it will not be the full price! Luckily, I caught it by reviewing my credit-card statement.

Yvonne from Customer Services has sorted things out for me, so I will see how the box I sent on Monday fares. Mistakes can be made so much happier that they have credited me and seen my point of view. Thank you.

Not first time I have sent a sealed box of books, only to be told that most had not arrived. They were all in the same box. So, only paid for 4 books, instead of 14. Had trouble before and swore I wouldn’t deal with them again. Then changed from Ziffit to World of Books so thought I would try them again. Even gave their details to a friend. Now embarrassed and very angry as had difficulty in releasing some of the books as I cherished them so much. You have to achieve a certain weight or value for free collection, so how could I have sent only 4 books out of 14. Ridiculous.

I ordered 5 books, paid £132, received no books, no refund, it's been almost 2 months, sent probably 30-40 emails, it's going on in circles, automated, polite responses, but never addressing the issue. Always asking for more info..... I'm reading the reviews here and every single one except one or two is NEGATIVE! How can this fake business acquired by Livingbridge for profit e-commerce company, hide behind the past, honest world of bookstore? Obviously this is a theft on a grand scale, they had revenue of over £100 million? By scamming people? Something must be done!

Bought four books which were stated to be in 'very good condition'. Was disappointed when they arrived as they felt grubby, some with bent pages and one was actually a library book. Would not buy from them again.

Take note of all the recent bad reviews and go elsewhere. I ordered a book stated to be in ‘very good’ condition, but on arrival (2 weeks for delivery in the uk!) it was, if I’m being kind, ‘readable’ stains on pages, broken spine etc. Intended as a gift so not suitable. Bought the book from Waterstones as birthday imminent. Requested refund. And am on a carousel which clearly is intended to make you give up. I’ve contacted my bank now and requested chargeback as the goods were faulty. Avoid.
